3 BEEF CATTLE LED STEERS CLOSING DATE OF ENTRIES FRIDAY 8 JUNE 2018 at 5.00 pm CST CLOSING DATE OF ENTRIES The following conditions will strictly apply: All entries, whether posted, lodged in person or completed online (if applicable) must be in the Society s possession at its Administration Office by 5.00 pm (CST) on Friday 8 June When sending entry ms fees by post, the onus is on the exhibitor to ensure adequate delivery time. Entry ms by facsimile or will not be accepted. A late entry option is available under the following conditions: o Late entries may only be submitted online will be accepted 7 days after the official closing date (by 5.00 pm CST) o An additional fee equivalent to three times the stard entry fee is paid. Absolutely no exception to the above conditions will be made to any exhibitor under any circumstance. ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF ENTRIES Entries submitted online will be acknowledged via . For postal entries, if you require mal acknowledgement that your entry has been received please include a stamped, selfaddressed envelope with your entry m. ENTRY FEES STUD CATTLE & LED STEERS Exhibitors will be required to book pay an exhibit space at the following rate: $80 per space (includes GST) STUD CATTLE ONLY The above rate covers class group entry fees bedding fee Stud Cattle. If entry numbers are excessive, only Feature Breed steers may accompany Stud Cattle. Entries in group classes must be made at time of entry. An exhibitor may, the cost of $80, book an extra space by 6 August 2018, provided the animal which fills that space is named on the original entry m. Make cheques payable to RA&HS send with completed entry ms. SUPPLEMENTARY ENTRIES Supplementary entries will be accepted (from current exhibitors only) on payment of a $240 (inc GST) fee per entry provided the entry is in the possession of the Society by 5.00pm on Friday 6 July Supplementary entries cannot be made online. PAYMENT OF FEES When paying fees by cheque or credit card, exhibitors must ensure that sufficient funds are available at the time of entry. Failure to do so may result in non-acceptance of entries. REFUNDS No refunds of entry fees will be made after the closing date of entries. MEMBERSHIP Exhibitors must be members of the Society. Your personal inmation will then only be used by the RA&HS to maintain contact with you allow us to manage your entries. The RA&HS reserves the right to inm prize sponsors of the details of recipients to enable distribution of their voucher/product prizes. Please note: by ticking the box to suppress your details, your name will appear in the Catalogue (if applicable) but your address will not. GENERAL REGULATIONS Exhibitors are reminded that the Society s General Regulations apply to all sections of the Show. A copy of the General Regulations can be obtained from the Society s website at or from the Society s Administration Office. Exhibitors should note that the General Regulations contain a number of provisions relevant to competitions this Schedule including but not limited to, offences, penalties, prohibited drugs. As those conditions apply in addition to the regulations contained within this schedule, Exhibitors should familiarise themselves with the General Regulations. SPECIAL REGULATIONS Exhibitors are reminded that the Special Regulations contained within this Schedule are merely supplementary to subject to the General Regulations. The members of the Society s Beef Cattle Committee shall have the authority to act on behalf of the Society to take any necessary action under these Special Regulations. ENTRY DETAILS The main emphasis of entries is the number of spaces required. Exhibitors are liable to a fine spaces booked but not occupied. It is theree suggested that more animals are entered than spaces booked to allow late injuries or sickness etc. Exhibitors may nominate entries a number of animals not exceeding 150% of the spaces booked. Details of all animals entered class numbers must be shown on the entry m. All entries are subject to approval by individual breed societies that all exhibit details are correct. Classes may be split or merged at the discretion of the Beef Cattle Committee TRANSFERS Please ensure exhibits are entered in the correct class at the time of entry. No exhibit will be transferred to another class after the closing date of entries. SUBMISSION OF ENTRIES The Society will accept only those entries which are registered at the time of entry which the following is detailed on the entry m: 1. CLASS NUMBER 2. NAME OF ANIMAL 3. HERD BOOK NUMBER 4. TATTOO NUMBER 5. DATE OF BIRTH 6. NAME OF SIRE AND DAM 7. NAME OF BREEDER 8. PROPERTY IDENTIFICATION CODE All exhibits will be catalogued in age order. Animals may not compete in more than one class other than group classes or those classes stating animals are to be drawn from general classes. Animals are ineligible to compete in any group class unless they are entered in the general classes. Only cattle which are entered as exhibits will be permitted to enter the Showground. COMPULSORY REGISTRATION OF STOCK Cattle entered competition (with the exception of led steers) must be registered in an appropriate Stud Book in accordance with the appropriate breed society regulations all exhibits must be pure bred. Pending Registrations will not be accepted. Exhibitors must make Registration Certificates available to Breed inspectors if requested. Please ensure all inmation on entry ms is correct at time of entry as transfers are not permitted after the closing date of entries. OWNERSHIP All exhibits must be the bona fide property of the exhibitor, or held by the exhibitor under a written recorded lease, at time of entry. ENTRY PASSES Exhibitors will receive one Show Pass per six spaces booked. Feature Breed exhibitors will receive two Show Passes per six spaces booked.

5 BEEF CATTLE 3 WITHDRAWALS All withdrawals must be clearly marked Withdrawal - Beef Cattle Section include exhibitor name, exhibit name, class number exhibit number (if known). Withdrawals can be sent via to entries@adelaideshowground.com.au or faxed to (08) Verbal withdrawals will not be accepted. PRIZES Prizes in each class (unless otherwise specified) will be: First, $30 ribbon; second, $15 ribbon; third, ribbon In addition, prize ribbons will be awarded in accordance with the following table: 7 to 10 exhibits - 4th ribbon 11 to 15 exhibits - 5th ribbon 16 to 20 exhibits - 6th ribbon RA&HS SASHES Will be awarded to all Champions Reserve Champions Sires Progeny Breeders Group Winners Most Successful Exhibitors Champions will be selected from first prize winners Reserve Champions from remaining first prize winners from the second prize winner in the class that supplied the Champion. Junior Champions will be selected from the under 20 months classes Senior Champions from the 20 months over classes. PAYMENT OF PRIZE MONEY All prize money won during the Royal Adelaide Show will be paid by Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) only. PRIZE MONEY WILL BE PAID AT THE END OF OCTOBER. Any trophy, prize or prize money not claimed by 11 December of the current year. shall be deemed feited by the exhibitor the RA&HS shall no longer be liable to pay or provide the prize. PRIZE MONEY AND GST Prize money as stated in the Prize Schedule does not include GST. The prize money which we pay to successful exhibitors depends on inmation provided to us. If you confirm that you are GST registered provide your Australian Business Number (ABN), we will pay the appropriate prize money plus 10% GST. We will provide you with a Recipient Created Tax Invoice which you will need to submit to the Australian Taxation Office. In entering the competition, you acknowledge your agreement to the following: You will not issue a tax invoice to the RA&HS in respect to prize money received; You will notify the RA&HS if you cease to be registered GST. If you provide your Australian Business Number but are not registered GST, we will pay the prize money as detailed in the Prize Schedule without reference to the GST. If you confirm you are entering as part of a private recreational pursuit or hobby, we will pay the prize money as detailed in the Prize Schedule without reference to GST. IMPORTANT It is important that you either: Confirm you are entering as part of a private recreational pursuit or hobby, or Confirm you are entering as a GST registered business supply your ABN Failure to do either of the above will cause the RA&HS to withhold 48.5% of your prize money in accordance with Australian tax legislation. The RA&HS is not a tax consultant theree assumes no liability actions taken as a result of these guidelines. In any instances where an entrant or sponsor is uncertain of the tax implications of their involvement, they should consult their own accountant or tax advisor.

6 4 BEEF CATTLE The Society makes every endeavour to ensure all prizes listed are accurate at the time of printing. Should a prize (cash, voucher, product, trophy) be withdrawn by a sponsor subsequent to printing, the Society will pay prize money as stated above. It is the responsibility of the prize winner to follow-up with the Society any sponsored prize (cash, voucher, product, trophy) they believe they are entitled to prior to 11 December in the year of the prize being awarded. The Society will not follow-up prize sponsors after this date or review any prizes that may have been incorrectly awarded. JOHNES DISEASE The minimum status requirement entry is Johne s Beef Assurance Score ( J-BAS) of 6. Exhibitors must complete Question 6 on the National Cattle Health Declaration stating their score return with entry m/s. This m may be obtained at au/toolkit/declarations--statements. Questions about eligibility or obtaining ms may be directed to PIRSA Murray Bridge Office on PESTIVIRUS All cattle will be required to be tested Pestivirus certified as non-pi (persistently infected). Exhibitors must complete question 3b on the National cattle Health Declaration stating this testing complete. Copies of test results must be submitted with show entry ms. EMAI laboratories provide PI-test using hair samples, visit about-us/services/laboratory-services/veterinary/ pestivirus-infection-cattle sample kits, pricing, turnaround times & veterinary specimen advice ms. Swans Veterinary Services provide PItest using ear notch testing, visit swansvet.com kits, pricing, turnaround times ms. INTERSTATE STOCK CLEARANCES Interstate exhibitors need to complete a National Cattle Health Statement or A Cattle & Buffalo Alternative Movement Waybill that travels with the cattle must be presented when the cattle are unloaded. The Waybill can be obtained on the internet at ALL EXHIBITORS All cattle must be NLIS compliant. This means all animals must be tagged with an approved NLIS eartag (including calves at foot). The Society will notify the NLIS database of all movements onto the Showground on behalf of exhibitors. All Exhibitors must carry a National Cattle Health Statement with the stock as a movement document proof of health status must present it to the Beef Office on day of unloading a PIRSA inspector to collect. Failure to do this may result in a penalty (Livestock Act 2007) A copy of the Cattle Health Statement can be downloaded from com.au/toolkit/declarations--statements/ RINGWORM 1. Any animal found infected with ringworm prior to the Royal Show can still be brought to the Showground provided that a veterinary certificate is produced on arrival stating that the veterinarian has seen the animal treated /or washed in the last 4 days with an appropriate fungicide. 2. That further washings take place not more than 4 days apart while on the Showground in the presence of the duty veterinarian. 3. Cattle found infected the first time while on the Showground - invoke Rule That Breed Societies inspectors reserve the right to ban any animals from the judging ring if an attack is so bad that, in their opinion, the showing of that animal is likely to detract from the spectacle of the Show ring. Animals must not have been exposed to any communicable/notifiable disease/s within 14 days prior to the show. HORMONE GROWTH PROMOTANT The use of hormone growth promotants in Beef Cattle classes is prohibited. PENALTY FOR NON EXHIBITION OF ANIMALS Exhibitors shall not bring onto the Royal Adelaide Showground, any more animals than spaces booked. The Committee reserves the right to impose a fine of $80 per space not occupied by an exhibit.

7 BEEF CATTLE 5 IDENTIFICATION OF EXHIBITS When parading bee the Judge, all animals, whether in single, group, or pair classes, shall carry a numbered neck card corresponding with the number allotted in the catalogue. In addition, the lead animal in the group pair shall carry a numbered neck card corresponding with the number allotted the group or pair in the catalogue. STOCK TRUCK PARKING An area is available at the Morphettville Racecourse the parking of stock trucks during the Royal Adelaide Show. For further inmation, please contact Administration on (08) or entries@adelaideshowground.com.au FIRE PRECAUTIONS Precautions will be taken to guard against fire, to protect the property at the Show, but exhibits will not be insured at the cost of the Society. Smoking is strictly prohibited in all livestock pavilions lockers. No exhibitor or other person shall remove, or displace, or interfere in any way with, or use any purpose other than the prevention of fire, any article or appliance provided use in the case of an outbreak of fire upon the Showground, nor shall any exhibitor or other person remove or alter, or add to, or interfere in any way with any fixture, fitting, article, appliance or thing owned by the Society, or used in such fixture, fitting, article, appliance or thing any purpose other than which it is intended by the Society to be used. The consumption of intoxicating liquor in all pavilions, halls attendants lockers is bidden. GRAND PARADES All exhibitors must parade 50% of their team, to a maximum of three animals per exhibitor. HANDLERS To avoid serious injury, exhibits in the judging ring /or participating in a parade must be hled /or controlled by a competent hler of at least 8 years of age. EXHIBITS Cattle shall not be rugged during the time the Show is open to the public. Cattle which are not thoroughly tractable will not be permitted to remain on the Showground. Only animals entered competition may be brought onto the Showground. Should there be any reason to suspect that any exhibit is either diseased or dangerous, or not of acceptable Show stard, the Society reserves the right of refusing its admittance to or removing the same from the Showground at the exhibitor s expense. All bulls must be nose rung. All female exhibits must be paraded with nose clips. All exhibits must be secured with both neck rope halter. TINTING AND/OR COLOURING OF COAT If in the opinion of the committee the coat of any exhibit has been tinted /or coloured by the use of stains /or adhesives, such exhibit shall be deemed to be ineligible exhibition at the Show. CALVES AT FOOT No cow expected to calve or with a calf born within two weeks prior to the first day of the Show will be permitted to be shown. Any cows calving on the Showground will be required to be removed from the Showground ineligible to compete. It is the responsibility of the exhibitor to adhere to Australian Welfare Stards Guidelines in regard to safe transport of livestock. All cows 30 months over must either have a calf at foot or the exhibitor must produce a Veterinary Certificate stating that the cow is in calf. This certificate must be produced to the breed inspectors at inspection time. Exhibitors with a cow which has a calf at foot must give the date of birth of the calf on the entry m. Maximum age of calves to be eight months old as at 1 September of the current year (ie) born on or after 1 January of the current year. Calves must be tattooed be the progeny of the cow entered competition. Calves must be able to be registered with the relevant breed society/association. Calves must be tethered at all times.

8 6 BEEF CATTLE INSPECTION OF CATTLE An inspection will be made of cattle identification tattoo /or NLIS tag no., breed type, conmation. An animal entered in any class an age of under 18 months shall be ineligible competition in any such class if at the time of inspection of exhibits it has or shows evidence of having had a permanent tooth. A tooth which has erupted from the gum in whole or part shall be deemed to be a permanent tooth. Animals in classes under 24 months must not show more than four permanent teeth. Animals in all classes under 24 months will be mouthed. An attendant must be present to supply any inmation required by the inspectors. Any exhibit not complying with the above regulations may need to be removed from the Showground within 12 hours of notification being given to the exhibitor. SCANNOGRAMMING OF BULLS All bulls will be scanned muscle fat weighed at the 2018 Royal Adelaide Show. This inmation will be displayed on the exhibit s neck card. STALL CLEANING Exhibitors will, to the satisfaction of the Society: 1. Keep the area allotted to them their animals in a clean proper condition throughout the Show. 2. Clean their area regularly. Refuse must be deposited in the manure bins provided. 3. Manure must not be deposited in the alleyways or general purpose rubbish bins. 4. General purpose rubbish must not be deposited in manure bins. 5. To assist in the transfer of manure to the bins provided, please bring own wheelbarrow or bucket. FEED LOFT ACCESS Access to the feed lofts the storage of feed gear will be by ladders. Exhibitors are not ermitted to walk on lofts. These guidelines will be strictly enced. EXHIBITORS PLEASE NOTE The preparation of food /or hot beverages is strictly prohibited in the Cattle Pavilions. Please use the kitchen facilities supplied (RA&HS Work Health & Safety Committee) BEDDING 1. A 90% sawdust/10% s mixture will be the only bedding Beef Cattle on the Showground. 2. Each exhibitor (including Led Steer exhibitors) will be allocated two bags per three spaces booked. Feature Breed exhibitors will be allocated one bag per one spaced booked. Additional sawdust can be purchased from the fodder store. 3. Exhibitors are advised that, if rubber matting is required, the House of Lindner (08) Paramount Browns (08) are the suppliers. 4. If bedding boards are required, exhibitors are to supply their own. SAWDUST OR SHAVINGS BEDDING FOR CATTLE PRINCIPLES FOR GOOD MANAGEMENT To achieve the best results from bedding cattle on sawdust or shavings, the following system of management is recommended: Pick up manure at every opportunity. Place hay in feeders avoid feeding excessive amounts. Avoid water spillage in stalls. Regularly smooth out the bed with the aim of assisting drying. Consider using rubber matting front half of bed. Do not dig out the wet patches. Do not disturb the bedding base. Keep the top of the bed loose. 100 mm borders are an advantage in managing the bed. Experience has shown that a properly managed bed will last a full Show with little need top up bedding, particularly with some classes of livestock. Note: Use of bedding straw is not permitted in any cattle pavilions. EXERCISE AREA Exhibitors must exercise their exhibits in the area which has been allotted this purpose. Exercising of animals in other areas will be prohibited. DOGS NOT ALLOWED Dogs will not be permitted in the Beef Cattle area.

9 BEEF CATTLE 7 FODDER Exhibitors must arrange their own fodder requirements. The sale of all fodder is in the hs of the fodder merchant, whose store is on the Showground. All sales will be by selected credit card or cash only. Any exhibitor who, in the opinion of the Committee, has more fodder than is considered necessary, will be required to remove the excess from the Showground. Exhibitors must not solicit orders fodder on the Showground. WASHING OF STOCK Exhibitors are requested to supply their own length of hose with stard diameter thread size fittings. Washing of stock is permitted in designated area/s only. The use of power equipment is banned in the washbay area. The use of power pressure washers is also banned. Please find below suggestions to assist with water conservation: All water hoses to have on/off taps. Where possible, it is preferable that cattle are groomed rather than washed. Feed cattle appropriately prior to transport (ie) cease giving water at least 12 hours prior to transport feed on dry feed only. CATTLE PRODDERS Cattle prodders will not be permitted at the Royal Adelaide Show. SICK OR DISEASED ANIMALS If, in the opinion of a qualified veterinary surgeon appointed by the Society, an animal on the Showground shall be so injured or be so affected by sickness, disease or other ailment as to warrant its destruction or its removal from the Showground as the case may be the Society shall be entitled to have the animal destroyed /or require the animal to be thwith removed from the Showground the exhibitor, upon receipt of such notice, shall thwith remove such animal failing such removal by them within the time prescribed by the Society, by written notice to the exhibitor or his representative on the Showground, the Society may remove the animal or cause the animal to be removed all costs expenses of removal shall be borne by the exhibitor, shall be refunded to the Society. Each such animal shall at all times be the sole risk responsibility of the exhibitor the person or persons removing the animal shall at all times be deemed to be the agents of the exhibitor all acts omissions on the part of such person or persons shall be deemed to be the acts omissions of the exhibitor who shall indemnify hold indemnified the Society, its servants agents from all claims whatsoever in respect of the animal whether by reason of any loss or injury to or caused by the animal or because of transportation, feeding or housing or otherwise howsoever. The pavilion supervisor must be advised immediately of any sick or diseased animals attended to by any Veterinary Surgeon. All veterinary expenses incurred during the Royal Adelaide Show are the sole responsibility of the exhibitor. TREATMENT REPORT FORMS Treatment Report Forms (available from the Beef Cattle Supervisor s Office) must be completed any animals which are attended to /or receive treatment from a Veterinary Surgeon. Once completed by the attending Veterinary Surgeon, the Treatment Report Form must be lodged with the Beef Cattle Supervisor immediately. PARADE UNIFORM Exhibitors /or attendants shall wear an approved Breed Unim (provided that the Breed Society has sanctioned the unim, permission has been granted by the Society all leaders wear the same unim). Alternatively, white dust coats must be worn. USE OF ELECTRICAL APPLIANCES The use of electrical appliances other than hairdryers clippers is strictly prohibited. PRE SHOW SET UP Exhibitors are welcome to set up leave gear at the Showground from Saturday 25 August. However, you do so on the proviso that on some occasions, there will be last minute shed plan changes on these occasions, your gear may need to be removed/ moved. This will only be done with the authority of RA&HS staff. Any gear, equipment, feed etc left on the Showground is at your own risk.

10 8 BEEF CATTLE LOCKERS Persons under the age of 16 years of age are NOT permitted to stay overnight on the Showground, unless accompanied by an adult. Lockers are not exclusive will be shared with another exhibitor unless the exhibitor has booked 5 or more spaces Due to the limited number of lockers available exhibitors onsite, we urge our exhibitors to consider their accommodation requirements 2018 plan accordingly The Society cannot guarantee all locker requests will be met. Exhibitors are advised that no more than two (2) people can fit in a locker. The Society will, subject to availability, allocate lockers to exhibitors. Applications lockers must be made out not later than 8 June Locker fee $80 (includes GST) per locker whether shared or not. Lockers will be allotted on the following basis: Exhibitors with one to five spaces will be allotted a share locker. Exhibitors with less than ten spaces can apply one locker only. The use of cooking or heating apparatus in lockers is strictly prohibited. The consumption of intoxicating liquor in lockers is bidden. Unauthorised person/s found occupying lockers will be fined $80 in addition lose their locker privileges the following Royal Adelaide Show By order of the committee. Stud breeders (other than Feature Breed exhibitors) requiring a locker the Led Steer competition (ie from Tuesday 6 September) must advise the Beef Cattle Supervisor on arrival. Exhibitors are not permitted to change or move lockers unless consent is granted by the RA&HS of SA Inc. BREED SIGNS Breed Societies will be permitted to display breed signs provided that the measurements do not exceed 2000 mm x 1500 mm. EXHIBIT CARDS No exhibitor shall display any prize card, exhibit card, or ribbon on their animal or pen other than those issued or approved of by the Society the current Show. The exhibit cards may show the name of the breeder the exhibitor. The registered stud name address may also be shown. Exhibitors may also use breed society/association cards provided they do not exceed a width of 500 mm a depth of 250 mm. STUD IDENTIFICATION Each exhibitor is permitted to display one sign 1200 mm long x 600 mm deep in size provided that such sign carries only the Stud name, address contact details. CATTLE FEEDERS Beef Cattle Exhibitors are requested to supply their own cattle feeders at the 2015 Royal Adelaide Show. CLIPPING CHUTES Clipping chutes will be permitted (in a designated area) on the Showground during the Royal Adelaide Show provided an application approval a $250 fee per chute accompanies entries. EXHIBITORS PLEASE NOTE Feeding of animals will not be permitted outside the Cattle Pavilions at any time. Animals must not be tethered in unauthorised areas. SHED/BREED CAPTAINS Shed/breed captains are responsible notifying the Beef Cattle Supervisor if safety barriers are required during judging: Closed Judging signs are needed to ensure a good representation of the breed participates in Gr Parades. The storage of equipment, feed etc between the Heifer Expo the Royal Adelaide Show is not permitted.

SUBMISSION OF ENTRIES Exhibitors may make three entries in Class 401, Purebred Steer regardless of Breed. Led Steer entries must be made on a separate entry m from Stud entries. Exhibitors may exhibit five entries in Class 501, Schools class providing each animal is a different breed. Exhibitors need not be members of the Royal Agricultural Horticultural Society of SA Inc to enter in Led Steer classes. Please state breed on the entry m. NLIS TAG No RESTRICTION ON ENTRIES The Society reserves the right to restrict the number of entries in Led Steer Classes. EXHIBITS All steers must be from LPA Accredited Herds. Steers must show milk teeth only. No restriction on feeding. Steers must not exhibit horn growth of more than 4 cm from the base of the horn. Steers must be polled or dehorned must be quiet tractable trained to tie up lead. The Beef Cattle Committee strongly recommends that all Led Steers are nose rung. All Led Steer exhibitors will have an area allocated to house their entries. This has been done to alleviate congestion /or confusion upon arrival. A floor plan will be on display on the Beef Cattle Supervisors window. Schools entering in class 501 must provide the full name of the sire on their Led Steer entry m. If the inmation is not supplied at the time of entry, the exhibit will not be accepted. JOHNE S DISEASE Steers are not required to come from J-BAS 6 or better herds but if the herd status Johne s Disease is infected or suspect, entries will not be accepted. PESTIVIRUS All led steers must be tested Pestivirus certified as non-pi (persistently infected). Exhibitors must complete question 3a on the National cattle Health Declaration stating this testing complete. Copies of test results must be submitted with show entry ms. EMAI laboratories provide PI-test using hair samples, visit about-us/services/laboratory-services/veterinary/ pestivirus-infection-cattle sample kits, pricing, turnaround times & veterinary specimen advice ms. Swans Veterinary Services provide PItest using ear notch testing, visit swansvet.com kits, pricing, turnaround times ms. HORMONE GROWTH PROMOTANT The use of hormone growth promotants in Led Steer classes is prohibited. BREEDING All steers to be the progeny of a registered purebred male from a dam of at least 7/8ths of pure breeding of the same breed. The Committee reserves the right to disqualify any exhibits who do not meet the respective breed society regulation LPA ACCREDITATION All steers must originate from an LPA accredited herd be accompanied by an NVD m. Completed NVD ms must be hed to the Beef Cattle Supervisor by 8.30 am on Wednesday prior to weighing scanning. Steers not meeting this criteria will not be eligible competition. MSA REGISTRATION Please remember to be MSA Eligible, ALL exhibitors must be MSA registered exhibitors must supply the Society with an MSA Vendor Declaration all animals. MSA is a valuable asset to the Australian beef industry, providing opportunities to differentiate product in the market. Unlike existing industry description systems, MSA accurately predicts eating quality individual beef muscles. For consumers, the Meat Stards Australia (MSA) graded logo is a trusted symbol of quality. This means that steers can be processed packed as MSA by Teys Australia providing they are from registered producers consigned cattle have been at the property the 30 days prior to dispatch to the show. In addition the

37 LED STEERS hour rule from arrival at the Showground to slaughter is no longer necessary. If you are not already registered MSA it is quick, easy free. Follow the below steps. 1. The following requirements also apply: Cattle must not have been mixed within 30 days of transport to the competition Cattle must be on full feed water prior to dispatch from the Showground. Exhibitors must complete an MSA Vendor Declaration m to accompany the National Vendor Declaration (see above website to order these ms). WEIGHT RESTRICTIONS Any Steer weighing less than 390 kg live on the Society s scales will not be accepted competition. SCANNOGRAMMING OF LED STEERS All Led Steers will be scanned weighed at the 2018 Royal Adelaide Show at 8.30 am on Wednesday 5 September (Purebred Steers followed by School Steers). This Inmation will be displayed on the exhibit s neck card. PROPERTY IDENTIFICATION CODE Property identification code must be included on entry m. EXHIBITORS PLEASE NOTE ON HOOF JUDGING: There will be three weight classifications. The steers will be weighed the Beef Cattle Committee will make up classes as evenly as possible. ON HOOK JUDGING: Exhibits will be classed according to their carcase weight. JUDGING All steers will be judged on Thursday 6 September on the Beef Cattle Judging Lawn. GRAND PARADE For School Entries Only. All Schools are required to lead all their steers in the Gr Parade. Schools failing to parade all steers in their team may be disqualified from competition. A sash will be awarded to the School that is judged the best appearance parading. This sash will be presented immediately after the Gr Parade.

38 36 LED STEERS JUDGING OF BEEF CARCASES Carcasses will be judged within the general parameters of the Meat Stards Australia Competition Model, incorporating carcase attributes relevant to Market Specifications MSA developed eating quality stards. Total Eating Quality...45 points TOTAL SCORE POINTS To be eligible an award, carcases should meet the following MSA requirements: ph, less than 5.7; Meat Colour, minimum Ausmeat Chip 1B, maximum Ausmeat chip 3; Rib Fat Depth, miniumum 3mm; Ossification, maximum 300; Fat Distribution, even fat coverage over major primals good even coverage over entire carcase. Carcases will lose points uneven coverage excess waste. SLAUGHTER OF LED STEERS In an eft to reduce the number of dark cutters often caused by stress to animals the RA&HS Beef Cattle Committee will be loading steers Teys Australia in the early hours of Friday morning. This will allow steers to relax sleep following a full day of judging, parading, photos etc. All exhibitors will be required to feed water their animals after judging on the Thursday afternoon prior to packing up leaving.it is also recommended that a small amount of hay is left in front of each steer. Exhibitors will be required to tie their steers up with a halter supplied by the RA&HS by 6.00 pm. Carcase inmation figures will be presented at the Presentation of Awards at am on Sunday 9 September 2018 at the Adelaide Showground. All equipment gear must be removed by 6.00 pm on Thursday 6 September. ENTRY PASSES - SCHOOLS Schools entering in the Led Steer section will receive 6 one-day tickets per animal entered (to a maximum of 30 one-day tickets per school per day of exhibiting, i.e. Wednesday Thursday. The Society strongly recommends that a maximum of six students be involved in the preparation showing of Led Steers at the Royal Adelaide Show. USE OF LOFTS During the Led Steer Competition the use of lofts storage of feed equipment will be strictly bidden. The end of each bay will be allocated the storage of feed. The Society acknowledges sincerely thanks THOMAS FOODS INTERNATIONAL their continued support of the Royal Adelaide Show in 2018, despite the significant set-back being experienced by their business following January s fire. 39 LED STEERS 37 LED STEER CLASSES Class Purebred Steer Exhibits will be weighed classified into lightweight heavyweight classes. Each steer must be owned by the exhibitor. Steers must be purebred The sire of the steer must be purebred the dam known to be of at least 7/8 th purity. The Committee may require any steer its sire to be submitted DNA testing may test at rom any steers. Limit of three steers per exhibitor. All steers entered by schools in Classes must be led in the Gr Parade held on Wednesday 5 September. Class School Steer Open to all Tertiary bodies Secondary Schools. The breeding of steers must be in accordance with the requirements of the respective breed classes. Name of Breeder must be stated on the entry m. Steers entered in this class must be cared by members of the School at least three months prior to the Show. Five entries may be made by a School, however, only one entry of any particular breed is permitted. Steers entered in these classes are eligible Champion general awards. Exhibits will be weighed classified into lightweight heavyweight classes. Exhibits must be led by students. A maximum of two school students (including the hler) will be permitted in the shed during weighing scanning of steers. 53 COMPETITIVE EXHIBITOR ROYAL ADELAIDE SHOW Conditions of Entry a) loss, damage or injury to any person in connection with the Exhibit or the relevant Event; b) without limiting Regulation 2(a), loss, damage or injury to any other Exhibit or Exhibitor, his or her family, invitees, Agents, or to the property of the Society, or its members, or to the general public, caused or contributed to or by any act or omission of an Exhibit of the Exhibitor or by the Exhibitor, his or her family, invitees or Agents; c) without limiting Regulation 2(a), loss, damage or injury to the Exhibit, or the Exhibitor, his or her family, invitees, or Agents caused or contributed by an act or omission of an Exhibit of the Exhibitor or by the transportation, feeding or housing of an Exhibit of the Exhibitor. 3. Removal from Showground Without prejudice to any other provision in these Regulations, where the Society, its officers, employees, members or agents removes an Exhibit, or causes an Exhibit to be removed from the Showground, the Exhibit is removed or caused to be removed entirely at the risk of the Exhibitor. The person or persons removing the Exhibit will be deemed to be the agent of the Exhibitor, his or her acts omissions will be deemed to be the acts omissions of the Exhibitor. 4. Insurance The Society will arrange Animal Exhibitors Public Liability insurance cover all Exhibitors of Exhibits being animals. The Exhibitor is bound by the terms conditions of this insurance by Statutory Duties as defined under the Insurance Contracts Act (1984). Details of the Animal Exhibitors Public Liability insurance are set out in the Relevant Schedule. The Society does not insure first party loss, damage or injury to Exhibits, Exhibitors should consider purchasing insurance if required. 5. Personal effects The Society has no responsibility or liability any loss or damage caused to personal belongings, equipment or property which is brought onto the Showground by an Exhibitor, his or her family, invitees or Agents. EMERGENCY INFORMATION Emergency inmation Emergency Assembly Points the various animal pavilions stables will be included with Exhibitor Entry Detail Returns Notice to Exhibitor mail outs. Competitors should be familiar with these plans. FIRST AID During the Royal Adelaide Show, St John provides First Aid Services but it is suggested that competitors have a basic First Aid kit minor injuries. St John is not in attendance after public hours. For emergency contact details, check Notice Boards, theshow.com. au website or dial 000. RA&HS EMERGENCY FACILITIES Firefighting other emergency equipment must not be removed or used any other purpose. Missing or unserviceable equipment should be reported to the Venue Management Office immediately. SMOKING Smoking is only permitted in designated locations. The Royal Adelaide Show is a smoke free event. TRAFFIC CONTROL The RA&HS Traffic Control Policy imposes speed restrictions within the Showground. For the duration of the Royal Adelaide Show the speed limit is 10 kph on the grounds 8 kph inside buildings The use of vehicles inside the Showground is closely managed during the Royal Adelaide Show. Conditions of entry will be provided with the issue of Vehicle Entry Permits. ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT 1. All extension cords electrical appliances must be tested tagged in accordance with current legislation as per Australian Stards Power boards with overload protection can only be used at the discretion of the Venue Manager. 3. The use of double adaptors is strictly prohibited. 4. Appliances power cables must not be used or laid through any area that may become wet. 5. Power cables must not be laid across walkways, paths, roads or any area where damage could occur to the cable. 6. Bar (resistance) heaters are strictly prohibited. 7. Light sockets must not be used any other purpose 8. In external areas only extension leads that are Heavy Duty Rated must be used.

54 COMPETITIVE EXHIBITOR ROYAL ADELAIDE SHOW Conditions of Entry HAZARD REPORTING Competitors must notify the Area/Pavilion Supervisor or the Venue Management Office immediately of any hazards detected. Hazards are any situation which has the potential to cause: 1. Injury, illness or death to people or animals either immediately or in the future 2. Damage or destruction to property INCIDENT REPORTING Competitors must notify the Area/Pavilion Supervisor or the Venue Management Office immediately an incident occurs which has resulted in: 1. The injury, illness or death of any person or animal 2. The damage, destruction or loss of property 3. A near miss incident that could have resulted in the consequences listed in 1 2 WASTE DISPOSAL All waste including liquids must be disposed of responsibly placed in the appropriate bin or receptacle. Storm drains must not be used the disposal of any waste. HAZARD MINIMISATION All areas must be kept in a clean tidy order with clearly defined available access exit routes at all times. Build-up of combustible waste must be avoided. Care must be taken to minimise trip hazards obstacles that people may walk into. Avoid laying unprotected cables or pipes on or above paths, walkways or roads. HAZARDOUS MATERIALS The RA&HS are to be advised of all hazardous materials that are brought onto the Showground. Appropriate warning signs Safety Data Sheets (SDS) will need to be provided bee allowing these materials on site. SDS are to be available onsite provided immediately upon request by a RA&HS Representative. MEDIA COMMENTS Any public comment on emergencies, incidents or other venue matters should only come from the RA&HS. The key media spokesperson the RA&HS is the Marketing Manager. DUTY OF CARE It is important to ensure your own safety that of all other site personnel, visitors general public at the Adelaide Showground. All competitors have a Duty of Care to avoid exposing themselves or other people to situations which could lead to injury. This Duty of Care extends to the prevention of damage to property. LIABILITY AND INDEMNITY 1. Release Entry to remaining on the Showground is entirely at the risk of the Exhibitor to the maximum extent permitted by law, the Exhibitor releases the Society (which term includes in this clause the Society s officers, employees, members agents), from all claims dems of every kind resulting from any accident, damage or injury occurring at the Showground, without limitation, the Exhibitor acknowledges: a) the Society has no responsibility or liability any loss, damage or injury to or caused by any Exhibit; b) the Society has no responsibility or liability any loss, damage or injury to or caused by any Exhibitor, his or her family, invitees Agents; c) the Society has no responsibility or liability any loss, damage or injury to a Motor Vehicle or any of its contents whilst it is located on the Showground; d) without limiting Regulations 1 (a) 1 (b) above, the Society has no responsibility or liability any loss, damage or injury resulting from the sale, treatment, failure to treat, destruction, disposal or other dealing with any Exhibit, or loss, damage or injury to any personal belongings, equipment or property brought onto the Showground. 2. Indemnity To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Exhibitor must indemnify keep indemnified the Society its officers, employees, members agents from against all actions, claims, dems, losses, damages, costs, expenses liabilities including without limitation, consequential loss loss of profits which the Society is or may be or become liable in respect of or arising from:
