We are truly grateful for your interest in our programs and the opportunity to present to you an exciting set of SimAngus genetics. Second Welcome to the new era in the agriculture industry. The movement towards renewable fuels has created extreme volatility in the grain markets and increased input costs, not only for cattle producers, but all of agriculture. With this in mind, we need continued focus on costs and efficiencies. In the beef industry, the most important decision we can make to increase value and decrease cost of production is wise crossbreeding. The impact of heterosis on the calf crop and performance will almost always reduce the cost of production. Third Welcome to the new age of Simmental genetics. Along with an efficient cow herd, carcass traits and carcass premiums are in the forefront. The American Simmental association and JBS Swift Co have combined to offer a new grid system that rewards Choice, YG 2 carcasses. The new 70:70 grid has the opportunity to increase profits for all segments of the industry, because it rewards superior genetics that can be raised at less costs. For more than a decade the American Simmental Association has been testing sires for carcass traits; marbling, yield grade and tenderness. SimAngus genetics that have been processed through this program have posted data at or above the 70:70:0 vs. the recent NCBA Beef Quality audit which revealed national average is 57% Choice, 52% 1&2 and 22% discounted.
