2 Welcome from the Dakota Power Group Welcome from all of us in the Dakota Power group. We are truly grateful for your interest in our programs and the opportunity to present to you an exciting set of Simmental genetics if nothing else, was an interesting year. Record highs, to moderate prices which was said we would not see again for sometime. I won t repeat the numerous clichés made over the past year. But one thing is true, what goes up, will (or must) come down. As we look forward to 2009 and beyond, there is great opportunity in the cattle business. Yes opportunity for profit; beef cow numbers are down, pork and poultry production is down. With fewer cattle numbers and lower input costs, we are extremely optimistic of the opportunities presented in the cattle industry. Even though fuel, feed and fertilizer prices come down over the last several months, we should not take them for granted. We need continued focus on costs and efficiencies. In the beef industry, the most important decision we can make to increase value and decrease cost of production is wise crossbreeding. The impact of heterosis on the calf crop and performance will almost always reduce the cost of production. We are very excited about this 2009 offering. This set of bull, could be the best set to date. On February 16th, we will bring 3 sets of cattle together to offer you a selection of genetics. It s all here in one place, on one day.
