1 Dear orienteering friends! Welcome in the South Bohemia, a beautiful holiday region of the Czech Republic. We hope that you will enjoy the competition, but we also hope that you will use the opportunity to explore the beauties of the region around the area of the competition. The area in the south of the Czech Republic between the towns of Jindřichův Hradec, Dačice and Slavonice is called Czech Canada, due to its higher altitude and colder, yet healthy climate. The forested hills interspersed with meadows and pastures are typical for the landscape of Czech Canada, as well as many ponds and lakes. Czech Canada is one of the most attractive tourist areas in the Czech Republic not only due to its scenic landscape. The forests and meadows offer an almost unlimited network of marked and unmarked hiking and cycling routes and the ponds and lakes invite to bathing and water sports. If you like to pick blackberries or mushrooms, you have found the right place here! Due to its large forests characteristics with ponds, creeks, rocks and solitary stones, the area of Czech Canada offers the best possibilities for orienteering. You will surely enjoy the pond Zvůle near the competition centre, renowned for its picturesque setting in the middle of the forests and for its clean water. Czech Canada is also a region with rich history. You can choose between Jindřichův Hradec (20 km) the district capital founded in the 12th century with its beautiful historical centre, renaissance castle and many museums and restaurants, Dačice (20 km) a small town dating from the 12th century is renowned for its, baroque monastery and empire castle and a birthplace of the sugar cube, Slavonice (25 km) a small, yet one of the most valuable renaissance towns of the Czech Republic, Landštejn (12 km) remains of one of the most important border castles of the former Bohemian kingdom built in the 13th century; South Bohemian scenic railway a railroad connecting Jindřichův Hradec and Nová Bystřice was built in the end of the 19th century. It is famous for its steam locomotives. You can enjoy the beautiful trip through the forests of Czech Canada (station Kunžak 5 km), Telč (25 km) UNESCO cultural heritage site renaissance town and castle, Třebíč (35 km) UNESCO cultural heritage site medieval Jewish settlement and many other places of interest. Please try to minimize the number of cars (=maximize car occupancy). The best is to arrive by bicycle (the distance from camping Zvůle is 14 km through forest). STAGE 3, 4 Centre: meadows near village Stoječín, GPS N, E Parking: on the meadow next to the stage center. Parking fee 50 CZK / car / 2 days. Colours: stage 1 pink, stage 2 blue, stage 3 yellow, stage 4 white, stage 5 green. START BIBS / VOUCHERS Start bibs for stages 1-5 will be available at the registration. Without start bib you will not be allowed to start the race! Before stage 5 (chasing start) each competitor marks his/her starting time on the start bib (based on start list of stage 5, in the format of 123:45). This will help to smooth launch of chasing start. Thanks. Start bibs for first 5 competitors after 4 stages will be available in the start area of stage 5. This bib has to be placed on the chest along with the bib for stages 1-5. The only exception from the obligation to wear the start bib are the competitors from classes HDR, P, T1, T2 registered on site for only 1 stage. Instead of start bib they get VOUCHER which they show at start. Without VOUCHER they will not be allowed to start the race. Mixed forest, moderately hilly with many situation details (stone boulders, rocks, knolls). Good runnability. FORBIDDEN AREAS All forest areas around stage centres. During the competition, it is strictly prohibited to cross fences and logged areas with small trees. Entering will result in disqualification. START Stage 1 00 = Stage 2 00 = Stage 3 00 = Stage 4 00 = Stage 5 00 = 9.30 Stage 1-4 interval start, Stage 5 chasing start up to loss of 60 minutes from leading runner after 4 stages, then interval start.

4 Competitors of classes HDR, P, T1, T2 do not have any fixed start time. They can start anytime between start time 0 and 180 (or last starting time of other classes in the starting list of the relevant stage) by punching the start SI unit. These classes do not have chasing start in stage 5. Distances to start see table above. The way to the start will be marked by blue and white ribbons from the stage center. Toilets will be available near the start of stage 2 and 4. Do not pollute forest! The starting area is divided lengthwise into 3 corridors with the designation: 1) Classes H 2) Classes D 3) Free start time (classes HDR, P, T1, T2) and late starts For stage 5 (chasing start) the starting area will be divided into 5 longitudinal corridors labeled by corresponding classes. Length of starting corridor for stage 1-4: 3 minutes, stage 5: 10 minutes! Competitors are asked to arrive on time and wear the start bib. Without the start bib (or voucher for classes HDR,P,T1,T2 competiting only in one stage) you will not be allowed to start the race. Before stage 5 (chasing start) each competitor marks his/her starting time on the start bib (based on start list of stage 5, in the format of 123:45). This will help to smooth launch of chasing start. After starting every competitor takes his/her own map from the basket marked with his/her class. The way from start line to map start will be marked by red ribbons. Map start will be marked by control flag. Competitors with their own SI-cards should check the number in the start list. Competitors without own SI-cards will borrow one at the event office and give it back to the organizer after the last stage they are attending. Rental deposit 800 CZK. Clearing and check of SI-cards will be done in the start area. All competitors are responsible for SI-card initialization! The finish time will be recorded by punching at the finish line. The reading of SI will proceed near the registration. Please use mechanical punching if SPORTIdent fails! NOTE: In the stage 5, the finish SI unit is placed a few meters after the finish line. The finish order is determined at the finish line by finish referee. Punch the finish SI unit in the same order in which you crossed the finish line. TIME LIMIT S1 90 min, S2 150 min, S3 90 min, S4 150 min, S5 120 min TRAINING Training area is located about 1 km from the event centre (see map below). Training maps will be available for 5 CZK at the event office from Tuesday REFRESHMENTS Refreshment points for longer courses in the stages 2, 4 and 5. Marked in the map or in the control descriptions with a cup symbol. Bottled water will be served in the finish.

5 FIRST AID RESULTS In the finish area, hospitals in Jindřichův Hradec and Dačice. Everyone is responsible for his/her health insurance! Preliminary results will be displayed in stage centres. Final results will be placed in the event centre, in the stage centres and on the event website. Official results will be available on the event website. PRIZEGIVING CEREMONY After stage 5, first three runners in the overall results in all classes will be awarded. All participants of classes HDR, DH10L a DH10 receive a small reward. Time of prizegiving ceremony will be announced on site. KINDERGARTEN During each stage there will be kindergarten. Please leave your children there only for necessary time. CATERING In the event centre and during stage 5 the catering is provided by the camping owner. Basic food will be available, as well as the restaurants Česká Kanada and U šutru, beer tent, roasted pigs etc. In the stages 1-4 catering will be available as well. We recommend going to Jindřichův Hradec if you want to do more shopping. WC WASHING In the event centre and in the stage centers (water closet or chemical toilets). Near the start of stage 2 and 4. You can freely swim or wash yourself in the pond Zvůle (please do not use detergents) or use the lavatory in the camping. Please do not wash running shoes and suits in the lavatory. In the centre of stages 1-2 use the lavatory of Cyklocamp pod Landštejnem. In the centre of stages 3-4 the will be water reservoir available. ACCOMMODATION The organizer is only responsible for the accommodation in the tent camp. The camp will be opened on Tuesday 9.8. from 14:00. Please follow the instructions of organizers. All competitors must wear the wristbands (you will receive it at registration). - parking See the map below. Cars of the competitors accommodated in the tent camp will park near the tents (but not among the tents). The parking fee is 50 CZK/night.
