We moved to the current location at UWS in 2001/02. Through all of this growth and development one record has stood the test of time that of G Sargood in the Under 13 Boys 800m. This record has stood for 28 years until Friday 25th February when a young man by the name of James Mihaere took to the track. It is said James was not too ken on attempting the record that night but when reminded it was his last chance for the season he took the bit between his teeth and off he took. 800m later James crossed the line in 2m 33.35sec breaking the previous record of 2m 34.60sec and 28 years of history. Lets see if James's record can now stand the test of time. Great work James! We have also had some several other significant long standing records broken this season which highlights the ability of our current athletes. This includes: Isabelle Lhotka (U9) breaking a 17 year old Discus record Isabelle Lhotka (U9) breaking a 17 year old 60m hurdles record Ashleigh Mooney (U11) breaking a 17 year old Discus record Stacey Hayward (U13) breaking an 11 year old 800m record Stacey Hayward (U13) breaking an 11 year old 1500m record Daniel Scullino (U10) breaking a 14 year old 70m record Well done to these athletes as well. P R E S E N TA T I O N N I G H T F R I DAY 1 A P R I L AT C E N T R E GRO U N D S Bring your chairs, bring your rug, pack and esky and put your feet up and celebrate the successes of the season. The canteen is open for BBQ, refreshments and all sorts of treats. This is the time for parents to be recognised for their hard work and relax for once on a Friday night. The presentation starts at 6.00pm and we hope to see many of you there. We will also be drawing the major raffle prize.

2 Page 2 A N N UA L GENERAL MEETING M O N DA Y 9TH M A Y The Centres AGM will be held on 9th May at Revesby Workers Club. Revesby Workers Little Athletics Mission Statement: Revesby Workers Little Athletics Centre promotes fun, fitness and skills development in a friendly competitive environment while encouraging family participation, community spirit and values. All parents of registered athletes are encouraged to attend to review the season, raise any questions and make any suggestions. In addition, all Committee positions are declared vacant and without a Committee we don t have a Centre. Don t be complacent and just think the same heads you see will be here next year because many won t and so we need your help the kids need your help. Without a volunteer committee running the Centre becomes very hard and this will only impact on the enjoyment had by the children and on families. Being on the Committee is not onerous with meetings only every 4-6 weeks. The workload you take on is entirely at your discretion. We will definitely need a Treasurer for next season (this I am also told is one of the easiest jobs with little effort required) and Publicity Officer, who produces this newsletter and dreams up fancy dress nights, is also open to a willing taker!!! Help shape the direction of the Centre and share your ideas by joining the Committee. If you are unsure speak to a current member to learn more. Every new Committee member will get a spiffy new shirt! J O I N REVESBY WO R K E R S C L U B Did you know it only costs $10 to join Revesby Workers Club for three years? For this you receive a $10 gift card every birthday as well as a $5 canteen voucher each season that s $45 of free credit for a $10 outlay, beat that in this current economy! It is our aim to have at least one parent from each family join Revesby Workers Club. Our annual grant from the Club is dependant on Club membership and with RWLAC likely to have to fund some serious ground maintenance over the next season or two, this grant will help keep our fess down. So, if you are not a member already, please join up, and if you are, encourage others to join as well the benefits of such a Club are enormous. R A F F L E T I C K E T M O N E Y ( A N D T I C K E T S ) A N D C H O C O L A T E M O N E Y N O W D U E All monies from the raffle ticket sales and chocolate fundraiser are now due. We also need the raffle ticket butts to ensure no one misses out on a chance to win some great prizes. Please return all monies ASAP to save us chasing you down.

Little Athletics Association of NSW Mission Statement The Little Athletics Association of NSW aspires to provide the community with recreational athletics activities that contribute to the healthy development of our children. Such activities will promote:- Fun Fitness The development of skills The building of character and self esteem The fostering of good sportsmanship In a safe, positive, familyfriendly and inclusive environment.

4 Page 4 STA TE CRO S S CO U N T RY A N D ROA D WA L K S C HA MP I O N S H IP S Athletes remember: Have a go at all the events. You do not have to be the best, we expect you to do your best, and have fun doing it. Parents remember: The more active and interested you are in your children s activities, the more they enjoy themselves. The State Cross Country & Road Walks are being held on July 3, 2011 at McMahon Park, Kurrajong. There is a $10 entry fee for this Championship (this fee covers both the run and the walk). Athletes in the U7 through to U17 age groups are eligible to enter the State Cross Country. Athletes in the U9 through to U17 age groups are eligible to enter the State Road Walks. Entry is on-line via the Little Athletics NSW website. This event is both an individual and teams event so try to organise at least 4 athletes from the same age group (and gender) to have an opportunity to win the teams event as well as individual placings. The cross country normally starts around 9am (maybe 8am) with the road walk after lunch. SYDNEY TRA C K CLA S S IC SATURDAY 19TH MA RCH The Sydney Track Classic is an iconic event held at Homebush commencing at 6.00pm. It is part of national series and promises to be explosive with many Australian and International Olympic athletes slugging it out for prize money and bragging rights. There are also some personal grudges that will be settled. Children involved in Little Athletics will receive an e-ticket shortly via which will grant them free entry to the Sydney Track Classic, whilst those children and their families who are fortunate enough to be involved in the Little Athletics State Championships will be able to remain inside SOPAC free of charge for the Sydney Track Classic if they don't leave following the conclusion of their event. Athletics NSW is arranging forecourt activities and entertainment in order to fill in the time between the two events. Free tickets are also available from the RWLAC web site. COMIN G BA C K OR NOT C OMI N G BA C K N E X T SEASO N? We hope to see all of you return to RWLAC next season as we think the season has been one of plenty of fun, new friends and new experiences. Many of the children are improving each week and another season will see their enjoyment and personal bests take off. If you are not planning on returning next season we would love to know why. Please see a Committee member and let us know, maybe we can fix whatever it is that irks you. Athletics provides great enjoyment for all and so we hope to share this with as many people as possible.
