The Committee would like to thank all of our athletes and parents for your patience over the past few weeks. The beginning of the season is always more chaotic as we have new athletes, athletes completing trials and trying to plan the events based on different numbers in Age Groups. Liverpool Gala Day Scamper (Tiny Tots - U7 s) 23 Oct 12 Nov We have had some athletes already attend Gala Days, break records on Friday Competition Nights and lots of PB s made. Well done to all of our athletes for trying your best and having fun. If you have any healthy recipes, photos, athlete profiles you would like included or can sponsor our Club then please us via prestonsrobins@gmail.com. Can you assist in the Canteen, BBQ or on the field during our Friday Competition Nights?? If we spread the duties around, the nights flow smoother, quicker and everyone has a good night. Let a Committee Member know if you are available. We have lots of upcoming events in the next few months, so make sure you stay tuned and keep in contact through out website, Facebook and our newsletters, along with announcements made on a Friday Night.
2 Age Managers & Volunteers Each week we need a range of Volunteers to ensure our Friday Night Competition nights run smoothly. The Committee very much appreciates all those who assist when needed, and in particular, to those that assist each week, we realise some of these Volunteers, such as our Starters and Timekeepers don t always get to see their children's events each week but without their help our Friday Night Competitions would not go ahead. If everyone shares the load, then you might only need to do it a few times across the entire season. We need Volunteers to assist each week in the following areas: Age Managers Timekeepers Starters BBQ assistance Canteen Assistance Measuring distances for our field events If you are a new parent to our Club, then please join your child on the field and learn the simple ways that you can assist your child and all the athletes in that Age Group. If anyone is interested in helping other than being an Age Manager, please come and see a member of the Committee or your child s Age Manager before the Friday Night Competition begins. 10 HQ Results All our Friday night results are entered into the ResultsHQ software and can be accessed at There is information on our website under Results for you to either register (if new to our Club) or to login (if previous member). The instructions are available for new registrations to access the HQ Results. Please let us know via if you have any problems. Registration Numbers The registration number must be attached to the front of the uniform, as this our method of identifying athletes during events. If you do not have your rego number attached, you may risk losing competition points towards the end of year results. We incorrectly issued a some junior numbers to athletes in U12 age groups and above. We apologise for the mix up - if any athletes in these age groups do not have a senior onesport number, please come to the canteen ASAP. Parent/Caregiver Participation and Supervision Prestons Robins Little Athletics Centre is a voluntary organisation, and we cannot operate without the assistance of parents each week. It has come to our attention that a number of parents are leaving their children unsupervised at the grounds. We are not a baby sitting service a parent/caregiver MUST BE PRESENT AT ALL TIMES whilst athletes are on the field. This is a Little A s NSW requirement and we will be monitoring this throughout the season for the safety of our athletes. We encourage parents/caregivers to follow their age group around the field whilst their children compete. Young athletes love having their parents close by watching them compete. And importantly - the more parent helpers, the quicker our competition nights will run. Get Involved There are many ways in which you can help: Age Managers escort their group of athletes around the fields and conduct the various events. They record the times and distances on the weekly results sheet. All field events require parents to help the age manager by measuring throws and jumps, raking the long jump pit, and replacing the bar at High jump. We require Starters, Timekeepers and Place Judges to conduct the track events. If you require advice on how to help conduct and event, please speak to one of our committee members.
