1 DPA Newsletter 23 October Hello Everyone, Welcome to Autumn edition of 2017 DPA Newsletter, number 23. Information that you will find informative & relevant to you, wher you re a Competitor, Parent, Teacher, Amateur Dance Club or a Competition Promoter re is something in this edition for you all! National. The 2017/18 National is now well under way, infact just over half way through current season. If you are uncertain as to your current position in any one of National tables n visit our website to find out. Once again, top 14 couples in Beginners, Novice, Intermediate & Pre Championship grades will be invited to participate at ir grand finals day at running of The 2018 Bournemouth Summer Festival next July. The top 13 categories of National will be presented with ir prize money during Festivals Annual Dinner Dance on Saturday evening. The prize money figures for each place in 2018 will be awarded as follows to leading couples; 1st 500, 2nd 250, 3rd 150, 4th 100, 5th 100, 6th 100. National Presentations for Juvenile All Girls, Under 11 s, Junior All Girls & Under 14 s; During running of The 2018 Bournemouth Summer Festival Presentation to winning couples of Juvenile All Girls, Under 11 s, Junior All Girls & Under 14 s will also be made at various points throughout 5 day festival.

2 New league Table for 2018/19. At a recent meeting of Management Committee, it was decided that Under 10 s competitors be given ir own National table in both ballroom & Latin American. This new & exciting league will replace Under 11 s league once current year reaches its conclusion (28th February 2018). Therefore all competitors under age of 10 can look forward to a National commencing from 1st March The under 11 s may still compete in National albeit under Juvenile section only. Keeping to rules. Could we please remind couples taking part in all National and Super events that y must adhere to rules especially those referring to moving up through grades. If you are unsure, n refer to DPA website it s all re. Point structure for National and Super will be as follows; Major Events (United Kingdom Closed, British Nationals, Star & European) PLACE 1ST 2ND 3RD 4TH 5TH 6TH Semi Final ¼ Final Previous Round Previous Round POINTS Super Events ; PLACE POINTS

Advertising of all Points All promoters must inform DPA of ir intention to run any league point events and advertise necessary competition in all required media outlets. Events some explanations Please note that National points will only be awarded to following age groups and levels U/35 and O/35 Beginner/Novice/Intermediate/Pre Champ. No or age categories at se levels will carry points - Promoters, please be aware for your forthcoming competition programmes & would all competitors please take notice. Any DPA member wishing to add a Super event to ir programme n please download application form from website, duly complete, sign and forward to Committee Member David Douglass with appropriate fee. WDC/Amateur European Championships Easter Weekend Friday 30th, Saturday 31st March and Sunday 1stApril 2018.

4 As mentioned in an earlier Newsletter that owing to resounding success of The European Championships and continual growth of entries year on year, Management committee are delighted to announce that 2018 presentation of The WDC Amateur European Championships will now become a 3 day event with competitions commencing in fabulous Empress Ballroom, Winter Gardens, Blackpool on Friday 30th March The programme for Friday 30th March will be as follows; The European Formation Championship. WDC AL Under 35 s Pre Amateur Ballroom & Latin American championships. WDC AL Over 35 s Pre Amateur Ballroom & Latin American championships. WDC AL Over 30 s Ballroom & Latin American championships. WDC AL Under 19 s Latin American championship. WDC AL Under 21 s Ballroom Championship. DPA Over 40 s Professional Ballroom Grand Prix. The programme for Saturday 31st March will be as follows; WDC AL European Juvenile Latin American championship. WDC AL European Under 14 s Ballroom championship. WDC AL European Junior Ballroom championship. WDC AL European Under 21 s Latin American championship. WDC AL European Amateur Latin American championship. WDC AL European Senior 1,2&3 Ballroom championships. DPA Open to World Professional Ballroom Grand Prix. The competitions for Sunday 1st April will be as follows; WDC AL European Juvenile Ballroom Championship. WDC AL European Under 14 s Latin American Championship. Once again, a limited number of front row seats will be available for spectators to purchase for 2018 European Championships. These tickets where evening dress must be worn each evening are obtainable from treasurer of DPA. Bournemouth Summer Festival The 28th Bournemouth Summer Festival that was held recently was without any question a fabulous festival of dancing over 4 days. Record attendance this year with huge entries in all grades. With that in mind along with inception of a range of new events for Pro Am, Teacher/ Student and Solos, may we advise you that 2018 Bournemouth Summer Festival will be extended by an extra day and as a result will be starting a day earlier. Therefore please note that 29th Bournemouth Summer Festival will commence on Wednesday 25th July and will run until Sunday 29th July, Plans for 2018 are currently in hand, with a view to making next years festival bigger & better than ever. 8 been increased as follows: 1st place ; 2nd place and 3rd place The UNITED KINGDOM SEQUENCE CHAMPIONSHIPS will again be held at magnificent and spacious Walsall Town Hall on Sunday, February 4, 2018, remember this is only or Sequence event, apart from British Championships at Blackpool, with double NL points, so whatever you do make sure you attend so that you don t miss opportunity to gain extra points towards increased prize money. The competition programme is on Martin Bird s website and will also be available at all future events. Amateur Registration or DPA Membership. Anyone considering to enter competition scene at any level may register with DPA. Registration/Membership is FREE to all Competitors. To register, simply complete application form & register online. Your registration/membership cards will follow shortly afterwards. If, however, you are new to promoting, n why not join us and become a member of DPA. Annual membership is 50 per organisation.
