II Outdoor Championships. MEET DETAILS WHAT: NCAA Div. II Outdoor Championships WHEN: Thursday-Saturday, May 21-23, 2015 WHERE: Allendale, Mich. Grand Valley State Track & Field Stadium LIVE RESULTS: NOTES: UAA will suit up 11 student-athletes (7 women, 4 men), tying the program record 11 from UAA also sent 10 athletes to the NCAAs in 2014, 2012 and combined, the 11 Seawolves will compete in 11 events (3 men, 8 women)... the qualifications mark the 14th consecutive season UAA has sent athletes to the NCAA Championships and 11th straight it has qualified multiple athletes. NCAA PREVIEW: The No. 22 Seawolves will be represented by seven women, including three with NCAA experience... competing in her fourth outdoor championship is senior All-American Haleigh Lloyd in the 400-meter hurdles, while junior All-American Karolin Anders (heptathlon) and sophomore Jamie Ashcroft (100m, 200m) will be making their third and second appearances, respectively... Anders, who finished second last season in the heptathlon, will be looking for her sixth career All-America honor, while Lloyd will be looking for her second outdoor honor since finishing seventh in the 400-meter hurdles in meanwhile, the No. 17 men s team will return All-Americans Franz Burghagen and Cody Parker in the javelin... Burghagen, who finished 3rd in 2013 and runner-up in 2014, makes his third straight championship with the second-best toss in Div. II this season at Parker, the NCAA javelin champion from 2013, has the eighth-best throw at additionally, UAA s Jessica Pahkala (800m), Beatrice Decker (1500m), Amy Johnston (5K, 10K) and Caroline Kurgat (10K) will make their NCAA outdoor debut for the women, while junior Dominik Notz (5K, 10K) and freshman Henry Cheseto (5K) will compete in their first NCAA meet... Notz, who was named West Region s Male Track Athlete of the Year, enters the meet with the secondfastest time in the 10,000 meters. AT THE NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS: The Seawolves highest team results came in 2013, with the women s team recording its first top-10 performance, finishing seventh... the men s top showing came in 2012 when they took ninth... UAA outdoor athletes have now earned 43 All-American honors overall, including a program-best 10 in additionally, the Seawolves have three athletes with NCAA titles Micah Chelimo, David Registe and Cody Parker (2013, javelin)... Registe brought home UAA s first NCAA individual title in the long jump on the women s side, Karolin Anders (2014, hept.) and Susan Tanui (2012, steeple) own the Seawolves top position, both finishing second in their respective events... Chelimo, Tanui, Ruth Keino and Marko Cheseto are the only Seawolves to garner two All-America honors in the same season, while all four each have four career All-America awards. WEST REGION HONORS: UAA junior Dominik Notz was named the West Region s Male Track Athlete of the Year May Notz, a junior from Dettingen, Germany, is the No. 2 man in the country at 10,000 meters with his 29:26.29 at the Mt. SAC Relays... he s also No. 5 in the country at 5000 meters with his 14:07.05 from the SF State Distance Carnival... both events will be on his schedule at NCAAs... meanwhile, 15 members of the teams were named All-Region by the USTFCCCA, May six Seawolves received All-Region honors twice for the men; senior Elliott Bauer (400mH, 4x4), freshman Henry Cheseto (5K, 10K), sophomore Adam Commandeur (400m, 4x4), and Notz (5k, 10K)... for the women; junior Karolin Anders (HJ, Hept.), sophomore Jamie Ashcroft (100m, 200m) and senior Haleigh Lloyd (100mH, 400mH). NATIONAL RANKING: The UAA men s team, which started the season ranked No. 4, is currently No. 17 in Week 10 of the USTFCCCA Div. II poll... the men s team leads the GNAC... meanwhile, the women s team sit at No. 22 in the poll and are second in the GNAC behind No. 17 Western Washington... Texas A&M-Commerce leads the men s poll, while Central Missouri leads the women s side. GNAC ALL-ACADEMIC: A record 17 UAA student-athletes 10 women and seven men were among 163 that were named to the 2015 GNAC Track & Field All-Academic team, announced by the league May the Seawolves bypassed the previous record of 16 from combined, UAA produced eight with repeat honors, while nine made the team for the first time... leading the Seawolf pack with her fourth academic accolade was senior Haleigh Lloyd (Ladysmith, B.C.), who furnished a 3.60 GPA in nursing and psychology... additionally, seniors Bryn Haebe (3.87, nursing), Elliott Bauer (3.77, construction management) and Kevin Rooke (3.60, finance) picked up their third straight award.
