Adams State and Grand Valley State - 18 entries each - lead the men s field, while GVSU leads with women s competition with 15 entries... leading the way with three races is senior Joyce Chelimo... a local of Kapsowar, Kenya, Chelimo will make her second NCAA indoor appearance, competing in the 3,000 meters, 5,000 meters and DMR... Chelimo enters with the top seed in the 3K and the No. 2 seed in the 5K... making the championships for the fourth straight year is senior Karolin Anders... from Berlin, Germany, Anders will look to keep her streak alive in the pentathlon with her fourth All-America honor... 2 heptathlon... last season, Thomas finished runner-up in the event and enters the multi-event at No. 4 this time around... Thomas will join junior Adam Commandeur and sophomores Liam Lindsay and Nicholas Taylor for the relay... the foursome is ranked No. 4 with a time of 3: this is the first time UAA has qualified a 4x400-meter relay to the National meet. RANKED SEAWOLVES: The UAA women s team enters the NCAA meet ranked No. 8 in Week 7 of the U.S. Track & Field Cross Country Coaches Association national poll, while the Seawolf men moved to No leading the women s field is Lincoln, (Mo), while Adams State is No. 1 on the men s side. AT THE NCAAs: The Seawolves have qualified athletes to the NCAAs for four straight seasons after the sport was introduced at UAA in in 2015, the Seawolves sent seven to the NCAAs, where they amassed six All-America finishes... overall, the men s team finished a program-best ninth in 2014, while the women s best finish is 11th in combined, the Seawolves have amassed 26 All-America honors, while former Seawolf Micah Chelimo has two NCAA titles (3,000m, 5,000m) NCAA RECAP: The Seawolves concluded the season with a combined six All-America finishes at the 2015 NCAAs in Birmingham, Ala., March leading the pack was then-junior Cody Thomas with a runner-up result in the heptathlon with a school-record and second-best GNAC mark of 5, on the women s side, then-junior Karolin Anders collected her fifth career All-America honor by taking seventh in the pentathlon with school-record 3,822 points - also good for second-best mark in conference history... on March 13, the Seawolves also received an All-America finish from the women s distance medley relay, which took eighth... making up the team were senior Haleigh Lloyd and then-juniors Rosie Hewitt, Jessica Pahkala and Beatrice Decker. BROKEN SCHOOL RECORDS: The Seawolves have already broken 17 school records at the conclusion of the regular season and the GNAC Championships... holding five new records this season is senior Cody Thomas... most recently, Thomas broke the 200-meter record with a new time of at GNACs...
