Although, a logistic challenge, the event was executed well. Close to fifteen members sailed down. 2 Blues Fest/Lutz 2013 All Mast Are Welcomed If you re looking for a place to step your mast, JPYC is the spot. The stepping rate for non-jpyc members is $4 a foot, one of the best deals on the lake. Boats up to 42 have pulled up to the gin pole. Appointments are required. We had seven members volunteer their time and boats. After the sail brunch was provided for them and the captains. Halloween Party October 26 Member s Meeting Awards Dinner December 7 PARKING: As a reminder the parking is being strictly enforced this year. You must use your key card when accessing the parking lot EVEN IF THE ARM IS UP and again when exiting EVEN IF THE ARM IS UP. If you do not use your key card when you enter and the arm is subsequently closed while you are parked you will not be able to get out unless you had used your key card when you entered. 3

4 The ABC s of JPYC Area III - see LMSRF Area 111. Burgee for JPYC is a triangular pennant with a white chevron on a blue field. To purchase one see Logo Items. Charging privileges are available to members in good standing for the Galley, Logo Items, the Gin Pole, mast storage, and locker rentals. Clubhouse hours during the boating season are unlimited. Clubhouse use is for members in good standing and their guests, and yachtsmen of affiliated Clubs. To reserve the Galley for private parties contact the Club Manager. Club activities will take precedence over these requests, but use is encouraged. Club Steward is Daryl Jones. Club Manager's hours are Tuesday through Friday from 10:00 A.M. to 7:00 P.M,, Saturday and Sunday from 8:00 A. M. to 7:00 P.M, from May 15th through October 15th. You may leave a message for him during off hours and off season on the Club's office phone, Committees of the Club always need more help. Select the Committees which suit your interests and volunteer. See Directory for listings. Contact Committee Chairs for further information. Supporting Our Galley Deb Farino-Stranc- Galley Committee Weekend Brunch: Saturdays and Sundays 9-2pm $12 per adult - $6 children 11 and under Lunch: The galley will prepare a lunch for your weekend sail $6 per person Wednesday Dinner: Prior to races. $6 for sandwiches, $10 for burgers and hotdogs Saturday Dinner: Dinner starts 6:30pm until 8:30 - $15 Members can use prepaid vouchers along with Crewing is an enjoyable way to learn all about yacht racing and racers are always looking for crew. Cruising information is on Bulletin Board CSYOA, the Cruising Yacht Owners Association, is so called because it evolved from the Cruising Division of the Club fleets which distinguished itself from the Club's one design fleets, of which there were several over the years. See Directory for detailed information. CSYOA, sign up on the first floor Bulletin Board, and/or show up at 5:00 P.M. on Wednesday nights in season. CYA, the Chicago Yachting Association, consists often Chicago Lakefront Yacht Clubs. Sponsors the annual Chicago Yachting Ball and Awards Dinner, and the Boat of the Year Awards for LMSRF Area III racing. Also publishes an annual Directory of Chicago area Yacht racing results and Clubs' activities, which each Club member receives in the mail as part of their membership. 5 The ABC s of JPYC (cont d) Food and beverages are available from the Galley kitchen during specified hours in season. They may be brought into the Club Galley when the Galley kitchen is closed. JPYC does not sell liquor. Frostbite Racing takes place in the Outer Harbor after October 15, through the middle of December on Sundays, from 10:00 A.M.2:00 P.m. Fuel for your yacht is available at the C.P.D. Facility, (the old Coast Guard Station), on the west side of the Outer Harbor. Hours of operation: 10:00 A.M. - 6:00 P.M., Wednesdays thru Saturdays, beginning May 15. Galley is open on Saturdays and Sundays, after Opening Day to the end of September. Members are to inform their guest NOT to use the galley entrance. If you use the gallery for personal use, CLEAN UP! Gin Pole is used by the Club Staff to step your mast at a discounted per-foot cost to members, and a per foot cost for non-members. Call for appointment. Hot Dog Races are so called because grilled Hot Dogs are available from CSYOA for a nominal fee after the race. House Rules are to be adhered to by members and their guests. i.e. No smoking, shoes, shirts and coverups must be worn; Children must be accompanied by adults. Ice may purchased at the Icehouse from the Club staff or on the honor system during their off hours. Key cards, used for Clubhouse and are issued to members in good standing. Additional cards may be purchased for $10.00 from the Club Manager or Membership Secretary. LMPHRF is the Lake Michigan Performance Handicap Racing Federation. LMSRF Area III is the Lake Michigan Sail Racing Federation, Chicago area chapter; ask Reps., see information on Bulletin Boards. Lake Michigan Singlehanded Society sponsors annual singlehanded and doublehanded racing events. LMYA, the Lake Michigan Yachting Association, promotes safe boating, crusising; application available on Bulletin Board. Launch ramp is located at the Jackson Park Inner Harbor for shallow draft boats. Check for water depth first. Lockers are available for $25 per season; ½ locker is $15 per season. Contact Club Treasurer or Club Steward. Logo items, including burgees, pins and clothing are for sale through the Club Staff. Items may be special ordered. These items are on display on the first floor at the end of the corridor. Interested in learning how to sail? Sign up with Skyline Sailing School at Jackson Park Harbor. On-water course held year-round from May to September. Boat rentals are available into October, weather permitting. On-water classes are limited to four students. Saturday Night Socials are held Saturday afternoons 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., from the Saturday before Memorial Day through the month of September. Socials are for members of JPYC and hosts are not to use this event as a private party. Security at the Club is a responsibility for all members since this is your Clubhouse, your home away from home. Keep the Clubhouse doors closed at all times. Do not admit anyone who you don't recognize as belonging on the premises without establishing a legitimate reason for doing so. Ask, in a friendly manner, how you may help strangers. This will prevent intrusions and may lead to establishing friendships. Smoking inside the Clubhouse or on the balcony is NOT permitted USSA is the United States Sailing Association, formerly USYRU. Venetian Night is sponsored by the City of Chicago, in cooperation with CYA, around mid of August. Volunteering to help keep JPYC functional is a responsibility of each member. The hundreds of hours of planning and work generously donated by our members is what keeps our annual dues so low. Yearbook updates, such as changes in membership status, address, telephone number, boat information, etc. are to be sent to Membership Secretary.
