Rule 4, Section 209, Part C prescribes a daytime noise limit of 65 dba for equipment used in construction or maintenance activities for Class A and B Lands. 2 South Shores Second Sub-Aqueous FM Crossing
6 SOUTH SHORES SECOND SUB-AQUEOUS CROSSING PROJECT OVERVIEW Purpose of project Segment 2 Update 3 South Shores Second Sub-Aqueous FM Crossing
7 PURPOSE OF PROJECT AND CONSIDERATION Purpose Provide redundancy for the force main in the event of a failure or and operational need. Not proceeding with the project could result in: Potential loss of sewer services Potential river contamination given a failure Diminished service to customers Alternative Construction Technique There is no alternative technique other than to limit the time that activities can be conducted to week days. Risks of doing this include: Project Delays of no less than 12 months (due to football season) Increase Costs Increased risk of tunnel collapse or other failure Prolonged impacts to neighboring residences 4 South Shores Second Sub-Aqueous FM Crossing
8 CONSTRUCTION PROJECT OVERVIEW South Shores Crossing Activities Horizontal drilling will be used to install a forced main under the St. Johns River. The drilling will be conducted at both the north and south entry points with the drills meeting the middle. Once tunnels are connected a series of reaming and swabbing passes will be conducted to widen and clean the tunnel. Then the steel pipe strings will be pulled through the tunnel north to south. Anticipated noise sources include: Diesel Power Unit 800 horse power (HP) Skid Pump 500 HP Mud Rig 350 HP Front End Loader Portable lights with generator Excavator Pile Driver 5 South Shores Second Sub-Aqueous FM Crossing
