1 CONNECTICUT SKI COUNCIL skiclub.com January, 2019 FROM THE PRESIDENT Dear fellow constituents of the Council, It s hard to believe, but the holiday season is already squarely upon us. As if this time of year isn t busy enough, our Council members are running extra hard these days. For one, we have had our annual Snowball and it was, as my grandfather would have said, a hum-zinger hope you all had as wonderful time as I did. Still more. I know that many of you have been enjoying some high-quality days on the mountains somewhat earlier than normal glory be to the snow gods! And even though we re in a somewhat aggressive thaw at the moment, historical records show that some of our snowiest past seasons have contained just such warm-ups. Do not lose hope! We also have now completed this year s racing registration thanks to Mt. Southington for hosting and thanks to all the fine people who showed up to enlist in a season s worth of spirited competition and camaraderie. Additionally, many clubs have apparently been active in their membership drives and our good friend Jonathan Houck has been working his fingers to the bone keeping clubs stocked with additional stickers it s always nice to see more of those in demand. Way to go CSC! As busy as we all are now, there s certainly a lot more activity on the way. Racing, club trips, the Senior Games, Kids Day and even OnSnow are all just around the corner, so let s start snow dancing in earnest and urge our friends and loved ones to do the same as we get together for some QT this special time of year. I hope you will all be safe and healthy, and had a very merry Christmas. Happy New Year! Your brother in winter, Ben BULK TICKET INFO A few reminders as you get into the ski season in earnest. Okemo tickets are direct-to-lift and clipped to your jacket with a wicket. Tickets will be-scanned at the gates. Sugarbush is a direct-to-lift RFID card. Don t carry extras in your pocket, as they also will be activated. Mt. Snow, Killington, Pico, Stratton and Bromley: you must go to a ticket window to get a lift ticket for the day. Be sure to have your club membership card with a valid CSC sticker and your personal photo ID with you to redeem your bulk voucher. Mt. Snow online tickets must be prepaid. You must show a photo ID, club card with valid CSC sticker, and a copy of the online purchase receipt at the ticket window. For northern tier tickets, please check with Cheryl if you have questions. 2 From the Vice President Hello, CSC Members, Belated Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, and Merry Kwanza! And Happy New Year 2019! Thank you, everyone, for your support of the CSC s annual SnowBall in November 2018! The contributions of so many ski clubs, Ambassadors, and ski club Representatives, under the coordination of both Melissa Patterson-Meador and me, enabled the Council to gain a new profit of approximately $ with about 500 ski enthusiasts in attendance! We announced and introduced our new CSC Ambassador for the ski season Deb Bonnanzio from Sterling Ski Club. Congratulations and thank you everyone for your enthusiasm! The Outstanding Service Award ski club members were also announced and presented with their plaques. They are: Marie Carparelli/Central CT Snow Snakes; Dave Zuraw/Danbury Ski Club; Carol Newman/Mt. Laurel Ski Club; John Zuk/New Britain Falcons; Ted Rogala/Newington Ski Club; and Metal Prewitt/Sterling Ski Club. Pinnacle Ski Club has an award-winner also, however, the name was not available at time of printing. We look forward to a great Monday Night Racing series, as we kicked off with a registration/pizza night on Monday, December 17. Leftover prizes from the SnowBall were raffled off, which earned the CSC another $450! Thank you, everyone, for your positive energy and spirit. Now let s wax those skis/boards, get on the snow, and have an Awesome Winter Ski/Snowboard season! There are over 125 days offered on this year s lineup so take advantage of the variety of terrain, and the great pricing that so many resorts are offering this season!
