Many thanks to Elliot from SunTrek for sponsoring dinner and our meeting last month. This month Cal from General Pool Supply with be taking care of us. Now is a great time of year to take some classes or seminars and catch up with the newest regulations, laws and products. A few of the training classes coming up are: Pentair Energy Chem Quip 2/29 Zodiac Training Ramada Silicon Valley Hayward Training Larkspur Landing Pleasanton. Thanks to all who filled out the Pentair rebate forms, we will be working on Raypak/Rheem and Waterways rebates the next c o u p l e m o n t h s, p l e a s e h e l p t h e chapter and yourselves just by filling out the forms we will take care of the rest. Don t forget over the next couple months we will be selling raffle tickets for another Polaris $5.00 each. Get yours now! We will be looking for someone to be a SPEC Ambassador for our chapter, we will have more information later. Have a great 2012! Good Luck and Stay Healthy, Mark Lyons March 15-17th Western Pool & Spa Show in Long Beach westernshow.com Any member going to the show will receive $75 towards registration and it will count as a meeting. Members must show proof of registration. Please see attached fliers for more details and registration information and remember paid and completed training classes can qualify for scholarship funds. Speaking of education, IPSSA will now be partnering with the NSPF to offer online certified training classes and member will be rebated 35% of the fee after completion. Remember it was 'Blue Card' update time, everyone s had 5-6 months to get it turned in and we're still missing something like 11 members so don't be surprised when you see that extra $30.00 a month charge added to your bill. So if you haven't turned one in would be smart to see Jeff Kennemer and get it taken care of ASAP. Happy Valentines Day
2 MORE ADA INFORMATION ( ed from CA rep) The 2010 ADA Standards for Accessible Design (ADA Standards) were adopted last year by the US Department of Justice (US DOJ). Compliance with the new federal standards is mandatory as of March 15, For information and technical assistance about the new federal standards, you can contact the US DOJ via their ADA Information Line at For many years the California Building Code (CBC) has required pool lifts for pools at public accommodations and commercial facilities; these requirements are in the 2010 CBC at Section 1104B.4.3. The CBC also requires pool lifts for common use pools at apartments, condos, and other covered housing; these requirements are in the 2010 CBC at Section 1141A. For any questions about accessibility requirements for pools and pool lifts at privately -funded locations, please contact the city or county building department that has jurisdiction over your project(s). For projects under the enforcement jurisdiction of the Division of the State Architect, primarily State facilities and public schools, we have issued a bulletin which describes the owner s and designer s obligation to comply with the both the CBC and the ADA Standards. This bulletin may be viewed at the following link: The Newest In Concept Cars February 2012 Santa Clara Valley IPSSA Newsletter - Page 2
