Pool dimensions Length: 25m Width: 13m The pool is 3 meters at the deep end shelving to 1.25m at the shallow end. Changing rooms Teams will be allocated to changing facilities. Door signage will indicate which changing room to use. Please note that there are no locker facilities available. 3 3 BRITISH GAS ASA SYNCHRONISED SWIMMING MASTERS CHAMPIONSHIPS 2012 ENTRY PACK ENTRIES Entries will be accepted only if they reach the Events Office by Friday 19 th October 2012 All entries must be made on the official entry form or a photocopy thereof. Please ensure that sufficient time has been allowed for entries to reach the office before the deadline. Completed forms should be sent to: Natasha Cuthbert, Events Department, The ASA, Pavilion 3, SportPark, 3 Oakwood Drive, Loughborough, Leicestershire, LE11 3QF. It is recommended that entries are sent by special delivery to ensure receipt. It is regretted that entries sent without entry fees or those incorrectly completed WILL NOT be accepted. Please note that confirmations will not be sent out. Please make sure for each entry form filled out that you sign and attach the relevant declaration form, this is essential. COMPETITOR CONFIRMATIONS Final competitor confirmations along with the order of draw will be published on the events page of the ASA website : approximately two week before the Championships. These will not be sent out to individuals or clubs. ENTRY FEES Please find below the entry fees for each competition. 4 4 BRITISH GAS ASA SYNCHRONISED SWIMMING MASTERS CHAMPIONSHIPS 2012 ENTRY PACK SPECTATOR INFORMATION Thomas Telford School is located in close proximity to Telford Forge Retail Park where various restaurants and shops can be found including a Sainsbury s supermarket. Please note that there is no catering available for competitors or spectators at the venue. The School is located close to Junction 5 of the M54. All roundabouts from the M54 signpost to the School. The school is also located approximately 1 mile from Telford Central Railway Station. The nearest hotel is the Park Inn, located at Forgegate, Telford TF3 4NE.. VIDEO AND PHOTOGRAPHY The Armature Swimming Association is becoming increasingly concerned about the new wave of mobile telephones with a photographic capability, enabling the capture of both static & moving images. Used responsibly, such devices are perfectly safe, but sharing images widely may betray a confidence or even an identity & such information may help those who might want to harm children. The use of such equipment is difficult to control but we can all be vigilant & if you have any concerns in this area, please bring them to the attention of someone responsible. This event will be photographed and videoed. Static images will be displayed on the website at the venue and used to promote the sport at this event and events in the future. British swimming and the ASA work closely with our experts to ensure that in making these images available to enhance the presentation of the event; we are not putting any children at risk in any way. If you have any concerns please refer to ASA Wavepower document, section 6, pages The document can be found at The following is taken from the new ASA Data Protection notice and relates to photography and video images for all events. Recording images: The ASA and British Swimming may record the competition events in which you participate and general images of swimmers will form part of the information we hold and use. In addition to the purposes for general information set out above, the ASA and/or British Swimming may use these recordings and images for the purposes of education and training, swimmer analysis, performance, development, selection and event promotion. If you have any concerns with being photographed at our events please see the Refusal of Consent form at the end of the entry pack.

5 5 BRITISH GAS ASA SYNCHRONISED SWIMMING MASTERS CHAMPIONSHIPS 2012 ENTRY PACK EVENT CONDITIONS Please read the event conditions. The conditions contain vital information relating to the event. CONDITIONS 1. The Championships shall be held annually under FINA and the ASA Synchronised Swimming Laws (701 et seq) and National Championship Conditions, except as provided by the following conditions. 2. For each group, the age specified shall be the age of the swimmer at midnight on the 31 December in the year of the competition. 3. All competitors must be registered as ASA category 2 members. 4. Online entries, accompanied by the appropriate fees shall be received by the ASA Events Department not later than 21 days before the date of the Championships. 5. General Conditions Swimmers may enter a maximum of three events plus Free Combination 20 years and over. Each event is made up of two parts, namely a technical routine and a free routine, with the exception of the Free Combination. Technical routines have to include all required elements see below appendix 1 Required elements for technical routines shall be changed every four (4 years). Goggles may be worn. There are no restrictions as to choice of music, content or choreography. 6. Entry Forms: Three swimmers can be named on duet entries, four on trios and up to 10 on team entries. The names of the final swimmers must be named at registration prior to the commencement of the technical routines. Teams shall consist of a minimum of four (4) members and a maximum of eight (8) members Free Combination shall consist of a minimum of four (4) members and maximum of ten (10) members Team ten (10) names may be stated on team entry. Free Combination twelve (12) names may be stated on entry. 7. Age Categories Solo: 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80 and over Duet: 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80 and over with age determined by the average age of the competitors. Trio/Team: 20-34, 35-49, 50-64, 65 and over with age determined by the average age of the competitors. Free Combination 20 years and over. 8. Time limits include ten (10) seconds deck work There shall be an allowance of fifteen (15) for the allotted time for Technical, Free and Combination Routines. In all routine events, the walk-on of the athletes from the designated starting point to achievement of a stationary position (s) may not exceed thirty (30) seconds. Timing shall commence when the first competitor passes the starting point and end when the last competitor becomes stationary. Timing of the routines shall start and finish with the accompaniment. Timing of deck movements shall end as the last competitor leaves the deck. Routines may start on the deck of in the water, but they must finish in the water. The accompaniment and judging shall begin upon a signal from the referee or appointed official. After the signal the competitors (s) must perform the routine without interruption. The timers shall check the overall time of the routine as well as that of the walk-on and deck movements. These times shall be recorded on the schore sheet. If the time limit is exceeded for the deck work or there is deviation from the routine time limit allowance the timers shall advise the referee or the appointed official designated by the referee. 9. Declaration of Competitors The Team Manager must inform the Chief Recorder (in writing) of any changes of the of competitors at least two (2) hours prior to each event. 10. Order of appearance The order of draw for Masters Synchronised Swimming Competitions shall be Team. Free Combination, Trio, duet and Solo. APPENDIX 1 FINA REQUIRED ELEMENTS FOR MASTERS TECHNICAL ROUTINES. GENERAL REQUIREMENTS 1. Supplementary elements may be added 2. Swimwear shall be black and the competitor shall wear a white cap. Goggles may be worn. IMPORTANT NOTE : THE SOLO TECHNICAL ELEMENTS 1 TO 5 ARE REPEATED IN DUET/TRIO AND TEAM AND MUST BE PERFORMED IN THE ORDER LISTED. SOLO Elements 1 to 5 MUST be performed in the order listed Elements 6 and 7 MAY be performed at anytime during the routines. 1 FISH TAIL from a Front Layout Position, a Front Pike Position is assumed; On leg is lifted to a Fishtail Position, the second leg is lifted to a Vertical Position (ending is optional).

A descent is executed until the swimmer is completely Submerged. 3 BARRACUDA BENT KNEE from the Back pike position with the legs perpendicular and with the toes just below the surface, a Thrust is executed as one leg is drawn along the inside of the other extended leg to assume a Bent Knee Vertical Position. A vertical descent is executed in a Bent Knee Vertical at the same tempo as the Thrust. 4 TRAVELLING BALLET LEG COMBINATION beginning in a Back Layout Position to include at least two (2) of the following positions: Right Ballet Leg: Left Ballet Leg: Right Flamingo: Left Flamingo: Double Ballet Leg. 5 SPLIT POSITION followed by a walkout front or walkout back. 6 TWO (2) forms of propulsion MUST INCLUDE Egg Beater travelling Sideways and/or forward (arms optional. DUET/TRIO Elements 1 to 5 MUST be performed in the order listed Elements 6 and 7 MAY be executed at any time during the routine 7 JOINED ACTION where the swimmers are connected (touching) in some Manner to perform on of the following a) A connected figure or a connected float or connected stroking b) Action MUST be performed simultaneously. Mirror action is permitted c) Stack, lifts, platforms are not permitted. With the exception of the DECK WORK AND ENTRY and as noted the JOINED ACTION, all elements required and supplementary, MUST be performed simultaneously and facing the same direction by all swimmers. Variation in propulsion and direction facing are permitted during pattern changes. TEAM REQUIRED ELEMENTS Elements 1 5 MUST be performed in the order listed Elements 6 9 may be performed at any time. 8 CADENCE ACTION identical movement(s) performed sequentially, one by One, by all team members. When more than one cadence action is performed, They must be consecutive and not repeated by other optional or required elements. A second cadence action may begin before the first cadence action is completed by all team members but each team member must do the action of each cadence. 9 With the exception of the DECKWORK, ENTRY, CADENCE and as noted in The JOINED ACTION, all elements required and supplementary, MUST be performed simultaneously and facing the same direction by all swimmers. Swimmers need not face the same direction in the circle pattern. Variation in propulsion and direction facing are permitted during pattern changes.
