No 33, Torrington Place, Colombo 07, Sri Lanka Tel: , E mail: office.slasu@gmail.com NATIONAL AGE GROUP AQUATIC CHAMPIONSHIPS 2018 (ARTISTIC SWIMMING) This event will also serve as a Selection Trial for the 13 th Singapore National Artistic Swimming Championships to be held from 30 th November to 2 nd December 2018 with the aim of providing greater exposure to the local participants. REVISED ON 10 th September 2018: Please note the following amendments to this circular. a) Venues have been updated. b) In Selection Criteria 4.II.(b) SNOSSC 15 to 18 years, should read as.the above junior duet technical routine trial competition, where it was inadvertently stated as the above figure trial competition The 2018 National Age Group Artistic Swimming Championships will be held as per the following schedule: ARTISTIC SWIMMING: Saturday 15 th September :00am (Otter Aquatic Club) Sunday 16 th September :00am (Sri Lanka Air Force Pool, Ratmalana) There may be variations in actual times of competition according to participation. GENERAL INFORMATION 1. ENTRIES v Entries must be in the attached ENTRY FORMS and has to be accompanied with the corresponding payments made payable by cheque to the Sri Lanka Aquatic Sports Union (SLASU) and crossed Account Payee Only. The entry forms may be reproduced for your requirements. v All required Entry forms must be typed legibly and should contain all required information. Incomplete forms may be rejected. 2. ELIGIBILITY v Entries for the above championships will only be accepted from fully paid-up affiliate members and only athletes registered for the year 2018 will be permitted to participate. 3. ENTRY FEES v Please refer to ANNEX-A Column 3 for the respective entry fees. v All entry fees must be deposited to the following account (Can Be Deposited at Any Branch), o Name of the Bank/ Branch - Peoples Bank, Duke Street Branch o Account name - Sri Lanka Aquatic Sports Union (SLASU) o Account Number v Protests or objections will cost Rs each, and must be submitted in writing within thirty (30) minutes of completion of the respective event. 4. ENTRIES CLOSE v Entries will close on Thursday 13 th September 2018 at 4:00pm at the SLASU office. v Entries without fees and/or late entries will not be accepted under any circumstances. The National Age Artistic Swimming Championships 2018 will be held under the rules of The SRI LANKA AQUATIC SPORTS UNION (SLASU), and where inconsistent the rules of the FEDERATION INTERNATIONALE DE NATATION (FINA) shall apply. 2 SELECTION CRITERIA SINGAPORE NATIONAL ARTISTIC SWIMMING CHAMPIONSHIPS 2018 Athletes will be selected based on the following criteria and their performances achieved ONLY at this Selection Trial. 1. The Artistic swimmer should be a Sri Lankan national. 2. The cost of participation of shall be borne by each respective athlete. The approximate estimated total cost of participation inclusive of airfare, food and lodging is expected to be around Rs 150,000/- per athlete/official. Cost of participation may be subsidized on a pro-rata basis in the event donations, sponsorships or grants are received. 3. Swimmers may compete in events in ONE Age Group and/or in the OPEN category. Swimmers are not permitted to compete in 2 Age Groups. Swimmers who are of 15 years of age are to select to swim in ONE Age Group only, i.e. either OR Junior (15-18). 4. Swimmers shall be selected as per the following quota: (I) SNOSSC 13 to 15 years: a) Solo: The top three (03) athletes placed in the Junior National (13-15 years) category solo event shall be considered for selection for this event provided a minimum of four athletes have participated in this event. Selected athletes shall have performed in both the figures component and free routine component of this event and shall perform the same at the SNOSSC. b) Duet: The top two (02) duets placed in the Junior National (13-15 years) category shall be considered for selection for this event provided a minimum of three duets have participated in this event. Both selected athletes shall have performed in both the figures component and free routine component of this event and shall perform the same at the SNOSSC. (II) SNOSSC Junior 15 to 18 years: Since the National Age Group category competition performance requirements vary from the SNOSSC Junior age group category, a separate junior technical event shall be conducted for selection trial purposes based on the FINA Junior 15 to 18 years Age Group Rules and will be totaled with the free routine score as follows: a) Solo: The top three (03) athletes obtaining the highest total score from the above junior technical routine trial competition and the solo free routine competition in the National Age Group category shall be considered for selection for this event provided a minimum of four athletes have participated in this event. Selected athletes shall have performed in both the technical routine and free routine component of this event and shall perform the same at the SNOSSC. b) Duet: The top two (02) duets obtaining the highest total score from the above junior duet technical routine trial competition and the duet free routine competition in the Open (National) category shall be considered for selection for this event provided a minimum of three duets have participated in this event. Both selected athletes shall have performed in both the figures component and free routine component of this event and shall perform the same at the SNOSSC. (III) SNOSSC Open category: This category is open to any athlete who is 13 years and above. Since the National Age Group category competition performance requirements vary from the SNOSSC Open age group category, a separate senior technical event shall be conducted for selection trial purposes based on the FINA Senior Rules and will be totaled with the free routine score as follows: a) Solo: The top three (03) athletes placed in the solo event based on the total score obtained from the solo technical and solo free routine components shall be considered for selection for this event provided a minimum of four athletes have participated in this event. Selected athletes shall have performed in both the technical routine component and free routine component of this event and shall perform the same at the SNOSSC. b) Duet: The top two (02) duets placed in the Open category duet event based on the total score obtained from the duet technical and duet free routine components shall be considered for selection for this event provided a minimum of three duets have participated in this event. Selected athletes shall have performed in both the technical routine component and free routine component of this event and shall perform the same at the SNOSSC. 5. In the event of a solo event having less than four (04) athletes or a duet event having less than four (04) duets, the number of athletes/duets considered for selection shall be restricted to a number less one athlete/duet from the total number that have participated in the respective event. 6. No team events in any of the age groups shall be considered for selection. However, a team routine may be choreographed from the athletes already selected for solo and duet events. 7. In the event of a solo swimmer selected foregoes her opportunity the next placed swimmer in the respective event may be selected provided that a minimum of 5 swimmers have participated in that event. No further selection will be made thereafter. 2

In the event of a duet swimmer selected foregoes her opportunity, the duet partner shall also forego the opportunity, and the next placed duet in the respective event may be selected provided that a minimum of 4 duets have participated in that event. No further selection will be made thereafter. 9. A swimmer s performance in one event will not be considered towards selection in a different event except as specified above. However, a swimmer already selected may be allowed to participate in other events provided there are vacant slots and they have been competitively placed in those events at the National Age Group Championships SLASU shall reserve the right to reject participation in the Artistic swimming discipline in its entirety due to unforeseen circumstances such as limitation in funding of the minimum required team official of coach cum manager and lady chaperone. 11. Any matters not stated herein in both of the above selection criteria shall be interpreted and determined by the Selection Committee for Aquatic Sports. 12. In all matters the selections will be based on the decision of the Selection Committee for Aquatic Sports and final acceptance by the Ministry of Sports. 3

4 ARTISTIC SWIMMING 1. DATES & TIMES v FIGURES: Saturday 15th September :00am onwards (Otter Aquatic Club) [Warm-up from 8:00am] v ROUTINES: Sunday 16 th September :00am onwards (Sri Lanka Air Force Pool, Ratmalana) [Warm-up from 8:00am] v A revised schedule may be issued based on the number of entries taking into consideration the local National Age Group events and the trial events. 2. DRAW & TECHNICAL MEETING v To be held on Thursday 13 th September 2018 at 4:00pm at the SLASU Office. 3. AGE GROUP RULES v All events for the National Age Groups will comprise of figure competition and free routine competition, both of which must be performed by all athletes. v Swimmers may compete in Solo, Duet or Team competitions in their respective age groups. The events will comprise a figure competition and free routine competition both of which must be performed to be considered for an award. In a duet or team event all competitors must swim the same figure groups. v In cases where the events to be considered for the Singapore Nationals vary from the local event, separate technical routines need to be performed. All Free routines performed for the National Age Groups will be considered as Free routine scores where the durations do not vary. v Age Categories o The Competition will be conducted as per the FINA Age Groupings for Artistic Swimming (SSAG 2) as at 31st December of the year of the competition. o Age Groupings are: years of age and under Born in 2006 and after years of age Born in 2003, 2004 or years of age Born in 2000, 2001 or Open Over 18 years Born in 1999 or before v Age Group figure sessions o Each competitor must perform two (2) compulsory figures and one group of two (2) optional figures drawn at the draw & technical meeting. v Swimwear for Figure Competition shall be Black Swim Suit and White Swimming Cap (Caps with schools/club logos shall not be permitted). Goggles and nose clips may be worn. v For Trial Events, nical Routine Required Elements will be as per FINA Artistic Swimming Rules Appendix VI Junior Solo and Junior Duet, Senior Solo and Senior Duet Required Elements ( _ _full.pdf) 4. MUSIC SUBMISSION v All music should be submitted on flash drives in MP3 format with clear identification of swimmer, school/club and the respective routine in conformity to the prescribed duration. v Routine to be named as follows: Category_Event_Country/Club_LastName_Initials-LastName_Initials.mp3 o Category: U12, 13-15, 15-18, Open o Event: ST, SF, DT, DF o Name: For duets, please use both last name and initial E.g: 13-15_DT_LC_Perera_T o For teams, please use the name of the school/club E.g: 13-15_TF_Visakha v It is recommended to include in 2-3 second lead from play until music starts. 4
