REDHAWKS RETURN HOME: The Miami University volleyball team continues Mid-American Conference play with a pair of home matches this weekend. The RedHawks welcome Buffalo to Millett Hall on Friday for a 7 p.m. contest. That match will be broadcast live on ESPN3. Steve Baker and Lisa Dankovich will have the call. On Saturday, Miami will take on Akron at 5 p.m. 2. HILL CRUSHES CAREER HIGH: In Miami s 3-2 victory over Kent State last Friday, junior middle hitter Paige Hill recorded a career-high 24 kills, easily besting her previous career high of 17. She made only one attack error in 37 attempts during that match for a hitting percentage of.622. The 24 kills were the most for the RedHawks since Emily Schroeder also had 24 against Kent State on Oct. 27, The Miami record for kills in a match is 30, set by Wendy Tepe in a win over Toledo on Nov. 8, ALUMNAE WEEKEND: This is the annual alumnae weekend for the Miami volleyball team and several former stars of the Red and White will be in attendance. Fans are invited to come see them in action on Saturday when the Alumnae match takes place at noon in Millett Hall.

They are coming off a split in their opening weekend in MAC play, starting off with a 1-3 loss to Akron on Thursday. They rebounded with a 3-1 victory over Toledo on Saturday. Buffalo has a new coach this season in former Penn State All-American Blair Brown Lipsitz. Her offense is led by senior outside hitter Megan Lipski. She has 145 kills, an average of 2.90 per set. The Bulls are attacking at a.136 percentage this season, while opponents hold a.250 attack percentage against them. THE SERIES AGAINST THE BULLS: Miami holds a 23-9 lead in the all-time series with Buffalo. The RedHawks and Bulls split their two meetings last season. On Sept. 27, 2014 in Buffalo, UB came away with a 3-0 (25-18, 26-24, 25-20) win. It was one of only two times all last year that Miami dropped a match in straight sets. Olivia Rusek led the Hawks with 11 kills in that match. MU got its revenge on Oct. 31, 2014 in Oxford with a 3-1 (25-14, 25-17, 24-26, 25-21) victory. Maris Below had a double-double with 12 kills and 12 digs. ABOUT AKRON: The Zips are 7-8 overall and 1-1 in the MAC. They won their opening league match, 3-1, on Thursday at Buffalo. They then went on to drop a five-set heartbreaker at home to Ball State on Saturday. Akron has a new head coach in Tom Hanna this season. The key player in his offense has been junior right side hitter Amanda Bedell. She has 155 kills, an average of 3.37 per set. She also has a.322 attack percentage on the season. THE SERIES AGAINST THE ZIPS: Miami holds a lead in the all-time series with Akron. The RedHawks have won four straight meetings with the Zips, including both matches last season. On Sept. 26, 2014 in Akron, Miami dropped the opening set, but came back to win three in a row for a 3-1 (21-25, 25-20, 25-18, 25-23) victory. Olivia Rusek led the way with a career-high 17 kills in the match. On Nov. 1, 2014 in Oxford, the Red and White once again won by a 3-1 (25-15, 24-26, 25-17, 25-14) score.
