The first committee was held in the lounge of a house in Garswood Road, Fallowfield and in attendance were Eric Renard, Brian Honeysett and others. Eric's brother Stanley Hahn became involved later, but then totally immersed himself in the club. The club first played in the South Manchester & Wythenshawe League, where the first team took the accolade of Division One Champions in the 1949/50 season, before winning the Barker Cup in In 1958, a move to the Lancashire & Cheshire Amateur League saw the first team successfully climb through the divisions, to eventually be promoted to Division One at the end of the 1964/65 season. The then North Withington Amateurs went on to top the division for an impressive five consecutive seasons. And in that time, they amassed silverware too, winning the Whitehead Cup twice as well as the Rhodes Cup, Aggregate Trophy, Hellawell Shield and Lancaster Amateur Cup. In 1972 and under the leadership of Chairman Billy Moore, the club were accepted into the Manchester League. Success came quickly with the first team crowned Division Two champions the season after their debut. Three back to back wins in the Manchester Challenge Trophy started with the 1976/77 season to 1979/80, the latter also being the year the team did the double winning the Lancashire Amateur Cup as well as being awarded for Sportsmanship. In the summer of 1974 the club s headquarters moved from the Princess Hotel in Withington to the newly acquired ground at Timpson Road in Baguley, where Town continue to play their football today. At the same time, it was decided to name the new ground after the residing Chairman Stan Hahn and Club Secretary Eric Renard, hence the name Ericstan Park. The club also designed a new badge, incorporating a fox and a cockerel, the cockerel representing Stanley Hahn (the German for cockerel is Hähnchen) and the fox for Eric Renard (the French for fox is renard), to forever honour the club s founding members. Soon after, in the early 1980s, the club decided to change their name to Wythenshawe Town FC to reflect their new home.

5 After a long spell in the Manchester League, current Chairman Kenny Hope took the club to the Cheshire League in 2014 and at the same time, formed a five-year plan to get the club to semiprofessional level. Nobody could have predicted the success of Town s Cheshire League debut in Division Two when they made national headlines by winning every single league and cup game; 39 games in total, earning the side the title, The Invincibles and being awarded National Team Of The Year. The winning streak continued the season after, taking the total to 49 games unbeaten before a draw ended the winning run. Nevertheless, the season ended on a high with Town runners-up in the Manchester FA County Cup as well as promotion to the Cheshire League Premier Division as champions. Throughout the club s spell in the Cheshire League, infrastructure was put in place to prepare for semi-professional football. A working partnership was formed with professional football club Fleetwood Town, providing the club with access to the very best resources such as professional coaches, advice on player development and commercial matters. The partnership puts Town in a better position to attract talented footballers with a passion to play, bringing winning players to the club, while Fleetwood have an extra pair of eyes helping them discover emerging talent. Also, the two sides enjoy an annual pre-season fixture, hosted at Fleetwood s state-of-the-art Poolfoot Farm Complex. The club made significant development to the grounds and facilities at Ericstan Park, to make way for the necessary ground grading for application to the North West Counties Football League. And while playing in the Cheshire Premier League, Chairman Kenny Hope set high standards across the club to ensure a professional and welcoming operation. The attention to detail paid off with the club winning Hospitality Club Of The Year for the 2016/17 season, an award that acknowledges the hard work and effort of everyone involved. The ambition to play semi-professional football was realised at the end of the 2017/18 season, after two seasons in the Cheshire Premier League where Town finished 7th and 8th respectively. With promotion secured to Step 6 football and the newly formed Hallmark Security North West Counties League Division One South, the 2018/19 seasons heralds a new era at the club.

They played in that league (renamed the Cheshire Association Football League in 2007) until 2014, and at that time were one of only two clubs to have been in the league throughout its 66-year history, the other being Knutsford. Barnton won the league on eleven occasions, including seven consecutive league titles between and The pinnacle of the club s success came with winning the National League Systems Cup while representing the Mid-Cheshire League in the inaugural competition of They beat West Cheshire, Liverpool Combination and South Western League opposition along the way before defeating the Cambridgeshire County League 2 0 on their home soil in the final. As a result of this they went on to represent England in the UEFA Regions Cup in Slovenia and Bosnia where they won four, drew one and lost one of their games, narrowly failing to reach the final stages of the competition. The club also participated in the FA Cup on two occasions ( and ) and the FA Vase in , although they failed to progress further than the extra preliminary round on each occasion. The club submitted an application to join the North West Counties Football League for the start of the season. They were successful in their application and their place in the newly formed Division One was confirmed on 29 May. A few days later, Andy Burgess was appointed as the club s new manager, with Ian Ross stepping down to concentrate on his role as chairman. However, Burgess left the club by mutual consent in November and forward Colin Quirk was placed in temporary charge. Within a week Allan Glover was appointed as the new manager, but he was succeeded by Leon Knight in March The club finished seventh in their inaugural season in the North West Counties Football League, just outside the Division One Play-Off places. During Barnton s second season in the First Division, the club accepted Leon Knight s resignation as manager in early March, and appointed Danny Meadowcroft as interim manager until the end of the season. The team then went on to lift the Reusch First Division Cup and also gained promotion to the North West Counties League Premier Division by beating Bacup Borough in the Division One Play-Off Final. The club then said goodbye to Ian Ross who stepped down as Barnton chairman after four years, and the management team also moved on to pastures new. In May 2016, Steve Lloyd and Mike Alcock took over as Barnton s new management team, with Tim Burton as the new chairman. After a promising start to the campaign, the team then picked up just one point from twelve matches to find themselves firmly in the bottom three. However, some quality additions to the squad in autumn sparked a revival, and the Villagers ended 2016/17 comfortably clear of the relegation zone. Despite picking up points from some hard-earned drawn games early in 2017/18, Barnton had to wait until November for their first league win, which came away at West Didsbury & Chorlton. Unsurprisingly, the team were firmly ensconced in the relegation places for the remainder of the campaign, with the second win only arriving at fellow strugglers AFC Darwen in March. The inevitable demotion was confirmed shortly afterwards, although the team did manage to win a further two games once the pressure was off to eventually finish second bottom. In 2018/19 Barnton will play in the newly-created First Division South of the North West Counties League, and under a new management team. Steve Lloyd has moved up to become chairman, with Mike Alcock joining him on the senior committee. James McShane takes over the reins as player-manager, and will be ably assisted by Garry Moore, Liam Page and Adam Judge.
