The original Bootle F.C. were formed in 1880 and played at Hawthorne Road. They were in fact Everton FC s biggest rivals. In Bootle became founder members of the Football Alliance, narrowly missing out on the football league to the blues. That season was the most successful as we finished league runners-up, reached the quarter-finals of the FA Cup, where we lost to Blackburn Rovers (0-7). When the Alliance merged with the Football League in 1892, Bootle became founder members of the new Second Division. However, despite a respectable 8th place final position, the club dropped out after one season (and were replaced by neighbours Liverpool) and seemingly disappeared due to financial problems. Football returned to Hawthorne Road when a new club, Bootle Athletic. was later formed with the new team initially playing in the Liverpool Leagues. In 1948 when the club were elected to the Lancashire Combination 2, which was won at the first attempt. However, Bootle struggled in the top-flight and after several tough seasons withdrew and folded during the campaign. In 1953, the current club was formed as Langton and played in the local leagues. After a very successful spell in the Liverpool County Combination (which we won on numerous occasions) the club reverted back to it s It s better known identity of Bootle F.C. in 1973; and a year later joined the Lancashire Combination, which we won in 1976 and Bootle then joined the Second Division of the Cheshire County League, which was won in our first season, and we were promoted to the First Division. In 1982 the Cheshire County League was one of the leagues that merged to form the North West Counties League, which Bootle duly joined, becoming a member of the First Division. The club spent most of their time in the First Division until 2000 when we unfortunately dropped into the Second Division. However, despite finishing 6th in 2002, the club dropped into the Liverpool County Combination. In 2006 the club, with a new ground, were elected back into Division 2 of the North West Counties League. In 2009 Bootle won promotion to the NWCL Premier Division and also won the Championship. In 2009/10, our first season back in the NWCFL Premier Division Bootle finished a NWCFL highest placing of 3rd. In 2010/11 finished 6th place. They equalled the 3rd place again in saw Bootle come so close to promotion, narrowly missing out with three games to go, and eventually finishing 3rd again. However they put that disappointment aside to win the Liverpool Senior Cup for the first time in 124 years. 25

Game, MATCHDAY PRICES 1ST TEAM: 5 ADULTS 2 CONCESSIONS UNDER 16 S FREE FREE ENTRY FOR ALL RESERVE & YOUTH GAMES: LEAGUE GAMES: 1 ENTRY SELECTED GAMES FREE ENTRY Hello and welcome to the Delta Taxis Stadium for today s Northwest Counties League Premier Division game and we welcome today s opponents Norton United. We know what a tricky team Norton are after the cup game a couple of weeks back and I expect another tough game today. The league is still quite tight at the moment so another win today against a team that sits one place below us would be great for our aspirations. I m happy to say that we are in a good bit of form at the moment; we ve scored 24 goals in 7 games with 13 of them goals coming in the last 3 games. I want that to continue today and the team are hungry to continue to keep the run going. We also began our defence of the Liverpool Senior Cup on Monday night with a 4-1 win at Widnes Vikings. We play Cammell Lairds in the next round. It s been great that the squad have been chipping in with the goals too, with six different goal scorers in the last three games. We would like to continue the momentum we have until the new year which will put us firmly back in the title race. Enjoy the game and thanks for your continued support. Up the Bucks Princey

Runcorn Town sit top of the pile in the Premier Division going into Saturday s action. The Pavilions side will be looking to get back to winning ways after losing 1-0 at West Didsbury & Chorlton last weekend. An early Steve Settle goal was enough to separate the two sides in a match which saw Runcorn slip further down the form table after losing three of their last six matches. Town host an AFC Blackpool side who haven t played away in the league since the beginning of October. Sitting a place and two points behind Runcorn are Maine Road, having played a game less than the league leaders. The Manchester side travel to Booth Street where they play Congleton Town who are in 14th place despite having a decent home record this season. If Road can secure victory they will take their unbeaten league record to four consecutive matches. Three points behind Maine Road are Runcorn Linnets who have a number of games in hand over the top two. Joey Dunn celebrates a year in charge of Linnets this week and will be hoping to celebrate the landmark with three points when they travel to Ashton Athletic. The home side could move up as many as four places if they can beat the side who currently top the form table. The meeting will be the first of two between the sides in a matter of weeks as they look forward to the reverse fixture next month. AFC Liverpool and Bootle sit fourth and fifth respectively; tied on 39 points each with Paul Moore s men having a marginal advantage on goal difference. Liverpool are without a win in three matches their longest winless streak since August 2012 and head to a Glossop North End side who have managed to keep 11 clean sheet this term. The Hillmen will be looking to get back to winning ways at home after recording some impressive results at Surrey Street earlier on in the season. Chris Willcock s side were knocked out of the Manchester Premier Cup on Tuesday night by Trafford, going down 1-0, whilst Liverpool also crashed out of their respective competition losing 5-2 at Marine in the Liverpool Senior Cup. Bootle go head to head with Norton United with three points separating the two. Norton can begin an assault on the teams above them if they can overcome Bootle. The Staffordshire side have a number of games in hand having played the least amount of matches in the division. Bootle on the other hand could move up to third place if they can record their fourth successive victory. At the bottom of the table, Wigan Robin Park currently sit four points adrift of Alsager Town who occupy 20th place. Park travel to Barnoldswick Town looking to do the double over the side who currently sit in 8th place. The last meeting between the two sides saw Wigan win 3-2 with goals from Craig Haynes and Pierre Bowen. Bacup & Rossendale Borough take up the other relegation place having only won four matches in the league so far this season. Brent Peters men are at home to last season s Division One runners up in Abbey Hey. The Gorton side currently sit in 15th place having recorded a 4-2 victory over Alsager Town last weekend. Elsewhere, Colne travel to Stockport Sports, Alsager Town entertain Winsford United, Silsden and Squires Gate lock horns and West Didsbury welcome St Helens Town to Brookburn Road 7

The club played at Norton Cricket Club and still does to this day. SATURDAY 7TH DECEMBER PM KO AFC LIVERPOOL THURSDAY 26TH DECEMBER PM KO GLOSSOP NORTH END SATURDAY 11TH JANUARY PM KO The club laid solid foundations during the first two years and in gained its first success with a win in the League Cup with a victory over Redgate Clayton in the final. We also came runners up two years later. Success started to come more regularly and our first Championship was in 1997 when we completed the double of League and League Cup- beating Adderley Green in the final by 2 0. In 1999 the Team won the League and completed the Double by winning the Staffs FA Vase with a win by 2-1 over Wolverhampton Casuals. The Championship was won by Christmas as we gained maximum points and we finished the season with only one defeat.

MATCH CENTRE The Club won the Championship for the third time in 2001 and with it promotion to The North West Counties League. We now play in the Vodkat League Division One. Further success came in the Staffs FA Vase in 2004 and Lee Pugh completed a unique feat of scoring in every round. Our best finish was season when with a magnificent second half to the season saw a third place finish. There have been some significant improvements at Norton United FC over the last few years. We have been able to have the pitch re-laid and a new drainage system installed. The playing surface is now fantastic and allows top quality football to be played. In 2006 a grant was obtained which allowed a junior pitch to be built and all of our junior teams are now able to play on the club grounds. The all weather surface was upgraded at the same time and another considerable sum was spent on the main pitch. Recently the club has purchased the Stoke City Training ground changing rooms. These are due to be installed in the near future and will bring the facilities up to the required standard for further promotion should we gain the necessary point! The second team now plays in the Staffordshire County Senior League and the third plays in the third division of the league, and both comprise of young players most of whom have made their way through the junior teams at the club. 13 Bootle's unbeaten record stretching back to early September was ended by a late, late goal at Ashton Town yesterday. In a game of few chances with defences dominating, Bootle looked to have earned a hard fought draw, but the stalemate was broken in the final minute. Bootle fielded a young and much changed side from the last few weeks, with several players making their 1st appearance of the season, but acquitted themselves well against a well organised, sharp Ashton side. Luke Atkinson excelled on his debut at left back and was unlucky to finish on the losing side in an evenly fought contest.
