1 SALE HOCKEY SECTION Welcome to Sale Hockey Club s start of season newsletter. Within you will find the usual mix of exciting and mouth watering information to whet you appetite for our forthcoming 2011/2012 season! LEAGUE RESULTS 2010/11 SEASON LADIES: 1st Team - Relegated to Cheshire League 1 2nd Team - Cheshire League 3 3rd Team - Cheshire League 5 MENS: 1st Team - Div 5S 2nd Team - Promoted to Div 7S 3rd Team Div 10S JUNIORS: (Greater Manchester League) U13-9th Position U15-2nd Position SALE JUNIORS MAKE THEIR MARK! Another great season with over 30 girls and boys attending weekly training resulting in thirteen juniors playing regular for the Ladies teams. Both U13 and U15 girls team entered the Greater Manchester Leagues held at Belle Vue. (Turn to page 2)

SALE HOCKEY SECTION Congatulations to: Fi and Lou who celebrated their Civil Partnership in May Kelly and Amanda living their dream on their year world travels Sarah Wantling s engagement Baby News: Ricky and Mandy Needham Rob and Izzy Riley Arrivals: Harriet and Alan Boswell Kathy Langridge and Phil Juniors Cont.Our young and inexperienced U13 s team challenged the very best of teams showing grit determination and were awarded with a vey commendable 9th position overall and relish next season. The U15 s squad consisted of numerous U14 players who managed to hold their own resulting in the following statistics: Played 21 Huge THANK YOU to Sarah Won 15 Rowley and all the other members who have given Drew 3 their time during training and Lost 3 tournaments to ensure the future of our junior section. Scored 64 Goals Against 10 Leading their league as they played their final tournament the unfortunately went on to lose their final game resulting in being piped at the post by Bury A Polly Harlow and Megan Smith U14; Ruth Whelan-Jeans U13 selected for the Greater Manchester Junior Academy Centre resulting in further selection for the Junior Development Centre. Polly Harlow was also selected for the Junior Regional Performance Centre.

3 AUGUST 2011 Page 3 FIXTURES MEMBERSHIP LADIES KIT FEES For this seasons fixtures refer to our clubs on-line selection where further information can be found. Our Fixtures Secretary, Sue Laister will also be forwarding our fixtures to us on her return from hols! Please pay your fees by 31st October otherwise regrettably it could affect your selection! Ladies 95 Men seniors 90/new 50 U16 30 Students / Unemployed 35 SOCIALS Sophie is in discussion with Kukri regarding opening an on-line shop in order to purchase kit personally. She has some spare kit available from last season for members to purchase. Please contact Sophie with any kit queries. Work in progress! Please watch the notice board or website for up and coming social events and news. Club Christmas Meal Sat 17th December 2011 TRAINING DETAILS Starts 6th September! Training Ladies and Men s 1 st team squad will train at WHGS every week from 8-9 pm, Remainder of the Men s section will train 7-8 pm. 6 th September to 18 th October inclusive at St. Bedes, then swap to WHGS from 25 th October to Xmas the Ladies 2 s/3 s will do the opposite (WHGS first then St Bedes from 25 th October).

4 Page 4 SALE HOCKEY SECTION TWIGG SHAW AND T D CRUZ SALE INTO PORT! Spring showers didn t dampen the arthritic joints of Sale Ladies Vets team at Timperley HC. A few spring chickens who crept in just over the age of 30 were a welcome relief to some involved! Caz Shaw and her goal poaching twigg didn t fail to let the occasion go to her head, whilst T D Cruz wearing her aerodynamic tracksuit bottoms managed to burst down the wings and provide pin point accurate crosses to the end of the twigg. Anne Monaghan finally got her wish - being provided with a GK kit by Timperley 4th team that fitted and to the defence s relief didn t smell! Despite not winning the tournament, a great day had by all. Over 35? Don t by shy, join the vets gang - see Savs for details. SUMMER LEAGUE AT BELLE VUE Congratulations to Rowley s team who played with a mixture from squad members and managed a very commendable 3rd position in Division 3. MIX TOURNAMENTS AUGUST 2011 Congratulations to our members who represented Sale in Clitheroe s annual mixed tournament in August. As expected Little Jenny captained the team through to the semi-finals. August bank Hols also saw Legless participating in the Old Silz, Solihull tournament. See Jenny s facebook for update!

5 Page 5 UMPIRE COURSE As a section we are in desperate need for members to volunteer their time to gain their umpiring qualification and aid the numerous teams playing each week. There is a course held in Didsbury sometime in October for 15. (The club will contribute the reminder of the cost). 4th TEAM INTRODUCTION TO MENS SECTION Due to growing membership, this season sees the introduction of a 4th team to the men s section. They will be playing in Division 11S MENS KIT Contact either Howard or Mark Roberts (if you don t already have a squad number) for kit needs to be paid for in advance. Tracksuits 35, Shirts 16, Shorts 10 & Socks 4. Please contact Mark Roberts if interested. JUNIOR VOLUNTEERS NEEDED! Our juniors are a vital lifeline to our club future. Due to this Sarah Rowley, Jenny Mouralis and Dave Wynne are looking for volunteers to help them deliver training sessions and accompany squad members to their league tournaments at Belle Vue.
