After a indifferent start to the season Ian Rennie bounced back to winning ways on the Horseshoe Lake in some style. He used his trusted feeder approach to put over 62 pound onto the scales to win with over 12 pound to spare. Fishing from peg 28 on the right hand side of the Lake, Ian caught some nice looking Carp throughout the Five hours. Second placed Brian Tovey continued his fine form of late putting together an all Carp catch for from peg 7 on the opposite side to the winner. Brian s excellent result moves him into a three point lead in Division Two. Just like the winner Dave Skinner used the Feeder to good effect from peg 13 pushing The scales to at the weigh in which proved enough for third place. Paul Hotchkiss produced his best performance of the season to collect the Fourth place envelope with Paul was pegged next to Brian Tovey and put a mixed bag together which sees him rise up the Division table. Juan Periera managed to finish fifth, with Ian Hughes taking Sixth. Although Kieran Smith finished in Eighth it was good enough for one of the section prizes. THANKS Many thanks to all for the minutes silence before the match in honour of Dave Robinson.
2 LEAGUE TABLES DIVISION ONE name P A.Taylor J.Male J.Periera R.Cox K.Smith D.Skinner P.Bullock I.Rennie DIVISION TWO name P B.Tovey P.Hotchkiss D.Bullock B.Hinks S.Cox J.King S.Durrant D.Robinson DIVISION THREE name P D.Crosby J.Turner M.Turner A.Whitmore M.Jones I.Hughes C.Parsonage A.Martin We will be counting your individual results from this years Doubles match and they will count towards the league tables. Please remember you will drop your worst result throughout the season and if for any reason you miss a match you will be awarded 10 points. If two or more are on the same number of points overall weight will decide the positions. DAVE ROBINSON R I P Dave Robinson officially joined The Exel Angling Club in 2013 after being proposed by Steve Kavanagh. Before this Dave took part in our annual Charity match in 2011 and 2012, he also fished as a guest in our club match at Fisherwick late in 2012 which he won with 41 pound. Dave soon settled into the way we run our Club and he made many friends on the way. He became a popular member and was always willing to pass on he vast knowledge not only to the senior members but also the younger one s amongst us. His family always supported our end of season presentation evening s and our thoughts must be with them all at this time. Dave s best season with the club came in 2014 when collected 5 divisional wins on his way to becoming the Third Division champion winning the title by seven points. He also added the Double s trophy to his collection when he partnered Mark Jones at Cob House where he put 173 pound on to the scales. To round off an excellent season Dave won the match at Astwood to collect the Tankard Trophy. Like John Male stated at the bottom of his excellent tribute to Dave on our web-site Dave will be sadly missed but never will be forgotten.

Corey caught all of his winning weight in the margins from peg 17 on Siblings B. Ian Rennie was pegged on the A pool and used the feeder throughout the match to finish runners-up with 32 and a half pounds. Venue regular Ian Tegg put together a nice bag of fish to finish third with a level 30 pound. Ian s weight could have been higher but unfortunately when he pulled his Carp net out for weighing he found a sizeable hole in the bottom. Thanks to Paul for a enjoyable afternoon. ITS VERY CLOSE AT THE TOP It s very close at the top of the Lou Hughes memorial trophy table with only four points separating the top five. John Male holds a narrow two point lead with Mary Turner and Dave Crosby in joint second place. Andy Taylor is fourth on 20 closely followed by Jeff Turner on 21.
