2 PREVIEW : OLYMPIQUE DE MARSEILLE - SM CAEN Feature Preview Marcelo Bielsa has expressed his satisfaction with the Olympique de Marseille squad ahead of the season opener at home to Caen, with a crowd of more than 60,000 expected to attend on Saturday evening to see if OM can record their first home win over the Normandy club since OM, fourth-placed finishers last term after being autumn champions, have a much-changed squad with experienced players such as André-Pierre Gignac, André Ayew and Jérémy Morel leaving at the end of their contract. Midfielder Giannelli Imbula was another departee, moving to Porto and playmaker Dimitri Payet - the top assists provider in Ligue 1 last term - left for West Ham. Marseille have been active in the transfer market on the incoming front as they prepare for Europa League football and to challenge for a top-three finish and rediscover the Champions League. OM have signed emerging talents such as Georges-Kévin Nkoudou, Bouna Sarr and Karim Rekik, and have taken a gamble by signing French international midfielders Lassana Diarra and Abou Diaby, despite a lack of recent game time for both men. Bielsa said: "I'm satisfied with the squad. All decisions about incoming players were taken by me along with the club president. No choices were imposed by the president, or by me. The players came in by common accord. Diarra and Diaby were initiatives taken by the president and I gave those choices my agreement. "We have replaced Ayew with Sarr, Gignac with Nkoudou, Fanni with Rekik and Imbula with Diarra. Only Payet doesn't have a successor. Thauvin and Sarr can play in his position but Barrada is the most natural fit for the role. Nkoudou and Ocampos are there as back-ups to Batshuayi. That's the current reality." Quizzed about his contract, the Argentinian said: "The terms of the contract have been agreed between me and the president, even if the document has not yet been signed." Last season, Caen recovered from bottom at the turn of the year to finish 13th. Patrice Garande's attack-minded approach - the club were fourth in the goals scored table with 54 - ultimately paid off, earning Caen a second Ligue 1 season in succession. Garande said: "Our playing principles will not change. We'll keep the same identity and that means we'll want to attack, play good football and score goals. We have a clear objective, which is to find a balance between the goals scored and the goals we concede. Last season we shipped 55 and that's far too many. That means we must defend better as a team. We've signed technical, experienced players and that means we should be able to deal a bit better with spells when we're not quite on it in matches." Caen saw star midfielder N'Golo Kanté join Leicester and promising youngster Thomas Lemar went to Monaco. Garande said: "Those sales allowed us to do what we wanted in the market, even if not all the money will be re-invested in transfers. We have a training ground to pay for." Asked about the club's ambitions, Garande added: "Our objective is to still be in Ligue 1 next year, and the year after that, all the while staying true to our principles. Some will say that's just talking about survival, but I would argue that what I'm saying doesn't show a lack of ambition.
