2 PREVIEW : PARIS SAINT-GERMAIN - EA GUINGAMP Feature Preview Paris Saint-Germain coach Laurent Blanc has defended his rotation policy as the reigning champions and current Ligue 1 leaders prepare to entertain EA Guingamp at the Parc des Princes on Tuesday. PSG are unbeaten this season and ended the weekend a point clear of both Stade Rennais FC and AS Saint-Etienne at the top of the table. However, they had to come from behind to draw 1-1 with Stade de Reims at the Stade Auguste-Delaune on Saturday, Edinson Cavani's fifth Ligue 1 goal of the campaigning saving a point for Blanc's men in Champagne country. That result followed a 2-2 draw at home to Girondins de Bordeaux in their previous league outing and raised questions about the performances of several players brought into the line-up. Blanc rotated his squad following the 2-0 Champions League victory against Malmö FF, with Layvin Kurzawa and Benjamin Stambouli making first starts since signing in the summer and the likes of Lucas Moura, Javier Pastore and Ezequiel Lavezzi earning recalls. But with the visit of Guingamp being followed by a trip to Nantes on Saturday and then a Champions League trip to Ukraine to play Shakhtar Donetsk before the Classique at home to Olympique de Marseille, looking at the bigger picture and keeping key players fresh will remain a central part of Blanc's plan. "The start of the season at Paris is always complicated. Last year we had fewer points than now, the year before as well. You will tell me that we could have 18 or 16 points, but our opponents won't agree," said Blanc, whose team are undefeated in 15 matches in all competitions going back to last season and their Champions League quarter-final loss to Barcelona. "The players need to be good when they have the chance to participate. The Champions League is the competition that motivates everyone. We all agree that our major players need to be at 100 percent for it. But in order for that to be the case, given that they are of a certain age, we need to put in place a certain turnover and we know that costs you certain points. Despite that, there is not a team in France that has more points than PSG today. "Sometimes rotation happens naturally: when you have injuries and suspensions. Apart from for the goalkeeper, because it is a special role. If you do what Barcelona did last season, then you always play the same XI and you will always have the same unhappy players. But you need to be lucky or talented to not have injuries, to win all the time, and especially lucky to have a player like Messi. "We have the same strategy as most clubs. We have two players for every position and we preserve the major players so that they are in good condition for the big games. Last season, we saw what happened against Barcelona when we had five major players absent. We have made our choice and it starts now." Despite that, the only notable name missing from the Paris squad is the suspended Serge Aurier. David Luiz and Adrien Rabiot return after missing the Reims draw and Zlatan Ibrahimovic will surely want to start as he continues his search for a first goal of the campaign. "We are demanding with him, that's understandable," Blanc said of the Swede. "Yes, he is not in the best of form, he is not scoring but that happened last year too. We said he is more of a playmaker than a goal-scorer. Now we are seeing he is having problems scoring goals but he will start doing so again soon. Be patient. When he doesn't score, you say he is in decline." Guingamp suffered a chastening 6-0 defeat at the Parc des Princes on their last visit in May but the Bretons come into this encounter on a run of three straight victories including a 2-1 win against GFC Ajaccio on Saturday. That has taken the pressure off coach Jocelyn Gourvennec and his side after they lost their opening three games of the campaign. "Preparing for matches like this is exceptional. I don't get bored of it. The French league is lucky to have a club and a team like Paris, but we are not going there as victims or spectators. 3 HISTORY: Paris Saint-Germain have hosted Guingamp on nine previous occasions in the top flight, winning five, drawing three and losing just one. - PSG have scored 23 goals in this fixture to just eight for Guingamp. - Paris beat Guingamp 6-0 in last season's corresponding fixture on Friday, May 8. Edinson Cavani (2', 52', 70') scored his first, and so far only, hat-trick in Ligue 1 while Zlatan Ibrahimovic (18', pen-90') and Maxwell (56') were also on target in a Week 36 fixture watched by 46,683 at the Parc des Princes. - Guingamp did, however, beat PSG 1-0 when the teams met in Brittany on December 14 last year. They were three points behind leaders Olympique de Marseille. - The capital club are enjoying their best start to a top-flight season since 1997 (when they had 15 points from six games). - PSG have been top of the table since beating GFC Ajaccio 2-0 in Week 2. - On Saturday, Laurent Blanc's side came from behind to draw 1-1 with Stade de Reims at the Stade Auguste-Delaune.
