2 PREVIEW : PARIS SAINT-GERMAIN - STADE RENNAIS FC Feature Preview Paris Saint-Germain must cope without the suspended Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Mamadou Sakho and Gregory Van der Wiel when they host in-form Rennes at the Parc des Princes on Saturday. Ibrahimovic scored a stupendous quadruple as Sweden beat England 4-2 in a friendly in Stockholm on Wednesday evening and Sakho played the full 90 minutes in France's impressive 2-1 friendly victory over Italy the same night but neither player is available to the Ligue 1 leaders this weekend. Ibrahimovic, top scorer in the division with 10 goals, serves the second match of his two-game ban following his red card in the home loss to Saint-Etienne in Week 11, while Sakho is banned after his red card in the 1-1 draw at Montpellier last weekend and Dutch full-back Van der Wiel misses out having accumulated too many yellow cards. Swedish captain Ibrahimovic's goals, especially the scarcely credible overhead kick which administered the coup de grace, have made headlines the world over. In his absence PSG coach Carlo Ancelotti has a decision to make as to his system. For the Montpellier game the Italian tactician opted for Guillaume Hoarau, although the tall forward's night ended prematurely as defender Alex was brought on following Alex's dismissal. Ancelotti, though, was heartened by lively displays from Jérémy Ménez and Ezequiel Lavezzi. Ancelotti, who should have Nene back from a broken cheekbone, said: "I wanted to play with Hoarau but it wasn't possible. Playing without Zlatan and without Hoarau we were still dangerous on the counter. Lavezzi and Ménez put in fantastic work. The whole team worked well." Van der Wiel being missing makes it all the more important that Christophe Jallet recovers from the minor thigh injury that saw him withdraw from the France squad for the Italy game. Jallet has been training this week and said: "Rennes will come to the Parc with great ambitions. They're on a good run and they'll definitely be a tough side to beat. Just like his team, Mevlut Erding is going really well at the moment and scoring in nearly every match. We're happy for him but I hope he abstains from scoring on Saturday! He can carry his great run on after the match." Turkish international Erding scored the equaliser for his country in a 1-1 draw with Denmark in a friendly in midweek and has seven goals in his last eight domestic appearances, including strikes in his last two league games. Signed from PSG in January, Erding's renaissance has helped Rennes to five wins from their last six league games. Coach Frédéric Antonetti was under extreme pressure when Rennes were 18th after Week 6 before embarking on their excellent run. After Week 6 they were 14 points off top spot. They are now a mere four points behind leaders PSG. Antonetti said: "We need to continue on this path. We have 19 points now and we're full of confidence. We now have the big match at PSG to prepare." Also saluting the displays of Romain Alessandrini, scorer of a fine goal in the 3-1 win at Nancy, and goalkeeper Benoît Costil, who saved a Paul Alo'o Efoulou penalty, Antonetti singled out Yann M'vila and Chris Mavinga for praise. "I have to salute Chris Mavinga and Yann M'vila," he said. "They played well. They were sober and focused." M'vila has been banned from representing France until the summer of 2014 while Chris Mavinga has been excluded until the end of 2013 following indiscretions while away on international duty with the French Under-21 side. Rennes president Frédéric de Saint-Sernin said: "The sanctions are excessive, very harsh and disproportionate. 3 - HISTORY: PSG have hosted Rennes 26 times in the top division. PSG have won 16, there have been seven draws and Rennes have been victorious on three occasions. - PSG's 3-0 victory in Week 37 last season with Nene scoring a hat-trick was their only home victory over Rennes in the last five meetings at the Parc des Princes. The previous two seasons' matches had ended in draws and Rennes were victorious in both and Rennes' other victory was 1-0 in on their 15th visit to the capital. - In Week 2 last season the clubs drew 1-1 at Rennes. - PARIS SAINT-GERMAIN: - GENERAL: PSG are top of the table with 23 points from 12 games (6W, 5D, 1L). They'd scored 25 and conceded 10 and boasted a three-point cushion at the top from Montpellier. - In Week 12 PSG drew 1-1 at champions Montpellier despite playing for 80 minutes with ten men after captain Mamadou Sakho was sent off for tugging Gaëtan Charbonnier's shirt. Maxwell (37') put the ten men ahead with a delightful chip to conclude a sweeping move. Rémy Cabella (60') equalised. MHSC playmaker Younès Belhanda (65') was sent off for two yellows and the spoils were shared. They suffered their first league defeat of the season in Week 11 when they went down 2-1 at home to Saint-Etienne. 4 -The 2-1 Week 11 loss to Saint-Etienne was a first defeat in 17 home league games since a 1-0 reverse at the hands of AS Nancy Lorraine on November 20, It was also Ancelotti's first home L1 defeat as PSG coach. - The Sakho own goal against Saint-Etienne was the first home L1 goal PSG had conceded in 460 minutes since Jérémie Aliadière scored for Lorient on the opening weekend of the season. - PSG have the highest home attendance in L1 at 42,844 -COUPE DE LA LIGUE: As one of France's European representatives, PSG were handed a bye directly through to the last 16, where they beat holders Marseille 2-0. They will now go to Saint-Etienne in the quarter-finals on November 27. -CHAMPIONS LEAGUE: After four games, PSG are second in Group A with nine points. A draw away to Dynamo Kyiv in Ukraine on November 21 will seal their place in the last 16. -PSG kicked-off their campaign with a 4-1 win at home to Dynamo Kyiv. After losing 1-0 away to FC Porto, they recorded back-to-back wins against Dinamo Zagreb. A 2-0 victory in Croatia was followed by a 4-0 win at the Parc des Princes on Tuesday. Paris Saint-Germain - Promoted to the French first division for the first time in 1974, PSG are the only French club never to have been relegated from Ligue 1, and are taking part in their 37th consecutive season in the top flight. - Ligue 1 champions in 1986 and 1994, PSG have won eight French Cups (1982, '83, '93, '95, '98, 2004, '06, '10) and three League Cups (1993, '98, 2008). - PSG last piece of silverware came when they beat Monaco 1-0 in the French Cup final - Guillaume Hoarau scored the only goal of the game in the 105th minute. - Since the relegation of Red Star 93 in 1975, Paris FC in 1983 and Racing Club de France (Matra Racing) in 1990, PSG are the only Ligue 1 side in the French capital. - Season was the worst in the club's Ligue 1 history, finishing 16th and saving their place amongst the elite on the penultimate week of the season. 7 Stade Rennais FC - Rennes finished sixth last season with 60 points, one point behind Bordeaux in fifth. It was their second consecutive sixth-placed finish, and their best points return since Frédéric Antonetti took over as coach in However, they missed out on qualification for the Europa League on the final day of the campaign. - Last season, the Bretons topped the table after beating Dijon on the opening day.
