2 PREVIEW : OLYMPIQUE LYONNAIS - STADE RENNAIS FC Feature Preview Olympique Lyonnais will hope they can maintain their momentum and silence the doubters when they entertain Stade Rennais FC on Saturday. Runners-up last season with some sizzling play, Hubert Fournier's men have stumbled out of the blocks this term. Following their Trophée des Champions defeat to Paris Saint-Germain, they were held goalless at home by FC Lorient in Week 1 before squeezing past En Avant Guingamp last weekend with a goal from substitute Claudio Beauvue. The former EAG man came off the bench to give OL their first maximum haul of the season, and with Alexandre Lacazette - last season's Ligue 1 leading scorer - yet to hit form and new arrival Mathieu Valbuena still settling in, Beauvue could again prove a useful ace for Fournier to have up his sleeve as his squad bid to answer those who are questioning their ability to challenge both domestically and in Europe this season. "We have not lost our football, it's going to come back," midfielder Jordan Ferri insisted. "We know we can do a lot better. We just have to get our team play back. We're lacking a little confidence, a little movement to help the man with the ball." The France Under-21 international, who along with Lacazette, Corentin Tolisso, Nabil Fekir and Anthony Lopes extended his OL contract this summer, added: "I can assure you that even if there were several of us who extended our contracts, nothing has changed. We have stayed the same in the dressing-room. Expectations are higher, but it's up to us to show that we're worth what we've been given." With Milan Bisevac not fully fit, summer signing Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa could make his Lyon debut. The former Montpellier Hérault SC centre-back, who won the Ligue 1 title in , will join Rafael, who continues to deputise for the injured Christophe Jallet, and Jérémy Morel as new members of a back four that looked ill at ease at Guingamp. "I think he's doing well," Fournier said of Yanga-Mbiwa, who joined from Italian club AS Roma. "I don't want to rush him into the team, but if necessary, he'll play against Rennes. There are two choices to make, but with the matches coming thick and fast, it shouldn't cause a problem. It was important to have three top-quality players." As they were 12 months ago, Rennes have again been busy in the transfer market this summer. Given the wholesale changes that have been made to the squad once again, it is perhaps unsurprising Rennes have made a mixed opening to the campaign. An inauspicious start with defeat at SC Bastia on the opening day was compensated for by Kamil Grosicki's stunning late strike at home to Montpellier Hérault SC last weekend that earned Montanier's men their first points of the season. "A victory like that is always nice," veteran defender Sylvain Armand admitted. "The hardest thing to do at the start of the season is to win your first game. We have a new team, a new system. You could see in the second half that we played with more freedom. We were by far the better side with many more chances than them. 3 - HISTORY: Olympique Lyonnais have won 21 of their 43 Ligue 1 encounters at home to Stade Rennais. The Breton visitors have triumphed on just six occasions. - OL are unbeaten in their last three home games against Rennes (2W 1D). - Rennes' last victory at the Stade Municipal de Gerland came on 18 November (Week 14) of the season. Honorato Ederson (36') put Lyon in front, but Jonathan Pitroipa (39') and Jires Kembo-Ekoko (53') gave the visitors a 2-1 win. - The victory is Rennes' sole success in their last nine visits. They have, however, drawn six of those encounters, including four consecutive 1-1s between and LAST SEASON: Lyon won 2-0 on the opening day - Steed Malbranque (64') and Alexandre Lacazette (74' pen.) got the goals. Clinton Njié (86') scored the only goal when the two teams met on the final day of the campaign. - OLD BOYS: Lyon midfielder Arnold Mvuemba made his Ligue 1 debut with Rennes during the season. He made 33 (1 goal) top-flight appearances for them before joining Portsmouth FC in summer Mehdi Zeffane left OL to join Rennes this summer. The full-back came through the OL youth academy and after making his top-flight debut in , he made 11 further L1 appearances (0 goals) for the seven-time French champions. - OLYMPIQUE LYONNAIS - GENERAL: Lyon find themselves in seventh place after two games on four points. They are two points behind leaders Paris Saint-Germain, the team that pipped them to the title last season. - Following a 0-0 draw at home to FC Lorient on the opening day, Lyon won 1-0 at En Avant Guingamp last weekend - former EAG man Claudio Beauvue came off the bench to score the only goal (79'). - The win marked OL's first victory in three competitive outings this campaign. - Lyon finished runners-up to Paris Saint-Germain in the season.
