2 PREVIEW : PARIS SAINT-GERMAIN - GFC AJACCIO Feature Preview Reigning champions Paris Saint-Germain play their first home game of the new campaign when they welcome newly-promoted GFC Ajaccio to the Parc des Princes on Sunday night, an occasion which will also see new signing Ángel di María paraded before the capital club's fans. Argentina winger Di María, the 63 million-euro recruit from Manchester United, will take the acclaim of the Paris fans before kick-off but he is not yet ready to make his debut for Laurent Blanc's side as he works his way back to fitness after a thigh injury suffered at the Copa América last month. With talisman Zlatan Ibrahimovic also struggling due to a knee problem picked up in the 2-0 win over Olympique Lyonnais in the Trophée des Champions two weeks ago, Blanc does not yet have a fully fit squad at his disposal. Nevertheless, PSG should be confident of continuing their perfect start to the new season and making it 11 consecutive Ligue 1 wins. PSG won 1-0 away to LOSC Lille on the opening weekend, a second-half goal by Lucas sealing the points despite Adrien Rabiot being sent off after just 27 minutes at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy as the capital club did what they had not done since 2010 in winning their season opener. "With the players with the experience and the quality that we have here at Paris Saint-Germain, we were able to control the game," PSG captain Thiago Silva told the club's official website. "When you play with ten men, you have to stay focused and give your opponents as few chances to score as possible, because if they score, it could become very difficult for us. "After Adrien was sent off, we held onto the ball well, really controlled the game well. In the second half, despite playing with a man less, we played better than Lille." Paris have not lost at home in Ligue 1 since May 2014, and the meeting with newly-promoted Gazélec looks, on paper at least, like being the most one-sided encounter in the whole campaign. The Corsican club's entire budget for the season is less than Ibrahimovic's annual salary in Paris, but Silva is wary of the surprise element. "It will be a very tough game, because we don't know very much about this team. That means they could cause us problems. But if we concentrate like we did against Lille, we should get a good result. We need to be totally focused at this stage of the season, because last year, we didn't make a good start to the campaign. This year is different. We have started with an important win over Lille. On Sunday, we will be playing at home, in front of our supporters. When we play at the Parc, with our fans behind us, it's very hard for opposition teams to play against us." Gazélec are appearing in Ligue 1 for the first time after winning back-to-back promotions and the Corsicans - who have usually played second fiddle to cross-town rivals AC Ajaccio down the years - started life in the top flight with a 0-0 draw away to fellow new boys ESTAC Troyes. They could even have won that game had last season's leading scorer Mohamed Larbi not blazed a first-half penalty off target, and Thierry Laurey's side will not get away with passing up such chances this weekend. In an attempt to avoid an immediate return from whence they came, Gazélec have added experience to their squad over the summer and this week they paraded their eight new signings, the most recent being Senegalese international midfielder Issiar Dia. The former Nancy player, who was born in the Paris suburbs, has signed a one-year deal to return to France after a spell in Qatar. Defender Rodéric Filippi is available again after a ban, but veteran defender Jérémie Bréchet is on the sidelines as he recovers from a fractured fibula. Louis Poggi, who played when Gazélec lost 3-0 to PSG in the Coupe de France back in 2009 as a fourth-tier amateur side, and Alassane Touré may have to wait another week before being able to feature but former Hamburg striker Jacques Zoua is now eligible to make his debut. 08/14/2015 Ligue de Football Professionnel / Ligue1.com 2

3 - HISTORY: This will be the first meeting of the clubs after Gazélec won promotion to Ligue 1 for the first time at the end of last season. - The sides were both in the second tier together back in , but they did not face each other because the league system was regionalised at the time, with PSG in the central group and Gazélec in the southern section. - The clubs did meet in the round of 32 of the Coupe de France in January PSG won 3-0 against a Gazélec side who were playing in the fourth-tier Championnat de France Amateur at the time, with Mateja Kezman (25', 61') and Sammy Traoré (67') scoring for Paris. Louis Poggi is the only survivor from either side who could feature this weekend. - PARIS SAINT-GERMAIN - GENERAL: PSG started their defence of the title by beating LOSC Lille 1-0 at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy on Friday, August 7. Lucas (57') scored the only goal of the game after Adrien Rabiot had been sent off in the 27th minute in front of 39,601 fans. - The Paris line-up against Lille: Trapp; Aurier, Silva (c), David Luiz, Maxwell; Verratti (Stambouli, 73'), Rabiot, Matuidi; Lucas (Augustin, 89'), Cavani, Pastore (Motta, 46'). - Kevin Trapp and Jean-Kevin Augustin made their Ligue 1 debuts in that game, while Benjamin Stambouli made his competitive debut as a Paris player. - It was the first time PSG had won their first game of the season since 2010, when they defeated AS Saint-Etienne 3-1 on the opening day. It was also the first time the reigning champions had won their first game since Girondins de Bordeaux in PSG have won their last nine competitive matches in a row since losing 2-0 to Barcelona in the Champions League quarter-final, second leg, last season. They have won their last 10 Ligue 1 games in succession since going down 3-2 away to Girondins de Bordeaux on March Maxwell is in line to make his 99th Ligue 1 appearance. Lucas made his 50th Ligue 1 start in the win at Lille. - Paris Saint-Germain won a third consecutive Ligue 1 title last season, their tally of 83 points allowing them to finish eight points clear of runners-up Olympique Lyonnais. Paris were crowned champions with one game to spare. - Last season, PSG were never lower than fourth from Week 7 onwards. They did not hit top spot until Week 30 but did not relinquish the lead after that. - Laurent Blanc's side scored 83 goals last season, seven more than the next best attack (Olympique de Marseille with 76 goals). They scored three goals or more on 14 separate occasions, including in their 6-0 demolition of EA Guingamp on May 8. They have failed to score at all in just four games. - PSG scored 37 goals in their final 11 Ligue 1 matches last season. - Zlatan Ibrahimovic was their leading scorer with 19 Ligue 1 goals, followed by Edinson Cavani with 18 and Ezequiel Lavezzi with eight. - Cavani got 31 goals in all competitions while Ibrahimovic scored 30 altogether. Behind them Lavezzi scored nine times. - Ibrahimovic scored eight of his 19 Ligue 1 goals last season from the penalty spot. He scored from open play in just seven games. - Javier Pastore provided 10 assists last season, while Marco Verratti laid on eight goals and Ibrahimovic six. - Paris conceded 36 goals last season. 6 Paris Saint-Germain - Promoted to Ligue 1 in their present guise in 1974, PSG are in their 42nd consecutive top-flight season. - PSG's title triumph was their fifth and their third in a row (1986, '94, 2013 and 2014). GFC Ajaccio - Gazélec Football Club Ajaccio finished second in Ligue 2 in to secure promotion to Ligue 1 for the first time in their history. It was a second consecutive promotion for the Corsican club after they came third in the Championnat National a year earlier. - The club in its current guise was founded in 1960 as a merger between two local teams, FC Ajaccio and Gazélec. The name Gazélec comes from that of a team formed by workers with energy firms Gaz de France and Électricité de France. - Nicknames include Le Gaz and Le Bistrot, because their headquarters were at the back of a bar called Le Claridge, which had the same sobriquet. - Gazélec have spent 18 seasons in the second tier but only two since The club play at the Stade Ange Casanova, which was refurbished in the summer of 2015 to increase capacity to 6,300. The stadium, situated on the northern edge of Ajaccio, takes the name of the club's founding president but is commonly known as Mezzavia.
