2 PREVIEW : PARIS SAINT-GERMAIN - AS NANCY-LORRAINE Feature Preview Paris Saint-Germain can ill afford to allow AS Nancy-Lorraine to continue their surprisingly good record at the Parc des Princes on Saturday if Carlo Ancelotti's Ligue 1 leaders are to keep the chasing pack at bay. Last weekend's shock 1-0 defeat at Stade de Reims, coupled with a draw for Olympique Lyonnais and a win for Olympique de Marseille, saw the gap between the top three reduced to five points. Grzegorz Krychowiak's second-half strike in the Champagne region inflicted a second defeat on PSG in three L1 outings, both of which came against sides at the bottom end of the table, and again cast doubt on the ability of Ancelotti's squad to produce the consistency required to win the title. "Perhaps we have a team made for Europe, based on talent and the quality of its passing, not for matches like this one," claimed sporting director Leonardo, who had seen the side slip to defeat at FC Sochaux-Montbéliard in Week 25. Ancelotti, however, had a more down-to-earth explanation: "It wasn't a problem of attitude, like at Sochaux. Here, we had some difficulties in our play due to the pitch, which wasn't great. We had to play the ball long, and we're not used to playing like that." The display at the Stade Auguste Delaune was below-par compared to back-to-back victories over Olympique de Marseille in the week leading up to it, though Ancelotti's side were hardly all-conquering either in securing passage through to the Champions League quarter-finals with a 1-1 draw at home to Valencia on Wednesday. Given Nancy arrive at the Parc des Princes firmly ensconced in the bottom three, it appears an ideal opportunity for PSG to regain their pomp, however the Lorraine club's fine record in the capital means Patrick Gabriel's side have cause for optimism. They are unbeaten on their last three visits, winning 1-0 last season, before doing the double over PSG later in the campaign. Though Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored the only goal of the game when the two sides met earlier this season, Nancy caused the capital club problems, and they have improved still further since Gabriel took over from Jean Fernandez in January. Back-to-back league wins over FC Lorient and OM gave the club, eight points adrift of safety at the halfway point in the campaign, hope, and though three successive defeats knocked them back, their 2-1 victory at fellow strugglers Sochaux last weekend means survival remains a realistic target. "This win is naturally a satisfying result. Had we lost tonight, the rest of the season would be looking a lot more complicated right now," said Gabriel, whose club is six points from safety. "The results of our relegation rivals didn't really go our way, but we'll keep hanging on, even though our situation is pretty delicate. We were fortunate enough to score first and then we handled the rest of the game well. I played three forwards to hinder the Sochaux wing-backs and force them to go through the middle, and I think it worked well." Goals, however, remain a serious problem. Only Reims have scored fewer times than Nancy this season, and with PSG boasting the best defence in L1 and Thiago Silva likely to return to the hosts' back four, Gabriel's men will need to exploit set-pieces as well as they have done already this season. More than half of their 24 strikes have come from dead-ball situations with Sébastien Puygrenier, who has a team-high four league goals, a particular danger to PSG's ambitions of moving forward en route to a first L1 title since /08/2013 Ligue de Football Professionnel / Ligue1.com 2

3 - HISTORY - There have been 25 L1 meetings between the pair with the visitors - surprisingly - holding the upper hand. AS Nancy-Lorraine have won ten times in the capital to the hosts' eight. - ASNL are unbeaten in their last three visits (1W 2D). - LAST SEASON: Jean Calvé's 49th-minute goal gave Nancy a 1-0 win in Week 14 - the second of only two L1 home defeats the capital club suffered last season. ASNL did the double over PSG with a 2-1 win in Week 30 courtesy of goals from Bakaye Traoré (18') and Yohan Mollo (89') with Mohamed Sissoko (50') replying for the visitors. - THIS SEASON: Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored the only goal of the game (74') as PSG won 1-0 at Stade Marcel Picot in Week PARIS SAINT-GERMAIN - GENERAL: PSG top the table with 54 points from 27 games (16W, 6D, 5L). They start Week 28 with a two-point lead over second-placed Olympique Lyonnais with Olympique de Marseille a further three points back in third. - In Week 27, PSG were beaten 1-0 at Stade de Reims - Grzegorz Krychowiak (64') scored the only goal of the game. - It was PSG's first defeat to a newly-promoted team in 16 L1 matches. Their previous defeat to a top-flight new boy came at home to Montpellier Hérault SC in May 2010 (1-3). - Last season at the same stage, PSG were also leaders, but had four points more. However, they were just a single point ahead of second-placed Montpellier. - With a 3-2 defeat at FC Sochaux-Montbéliard in Week 25 followed by a 2-0 home win over OM, PSG have lost two of their last three L1 outings. - Carlo Ancelotti's men have lost 2 of their last 19 games in all competitions. - PSG topped the table after Week 19 to claim the symbolic title of 'autumn champions' for the second season running. - PSG top the attack table with 49 goals. The 0-0 draws against Ajaccio (Wk 2), Bordeaux (Wk 3) and Ajaccio again (Wk 20), as well as the Week 27 defeat at Reims are the only games in which they have failed to score, while they have scored three goals or more on seven occasions. - Zlatan Ibrahimovic is the leading scorer in Ligue 1 with 22 goals to his name from just 24 appearances. Kévin Gameiro has five, Lavezzi and Blaise Matuidi three apiece. - Ibrahimovic has 26 goals in all competitions, while Lavezzi has 11 in all competitions. - Jérémy Ménez and Javier Pastore have both contributed six assists. Lucas has three from just six appearances. - PSG have conceded just 17 goals this season, giving them the best defensive record in Ligue 1. Saint-Etienne are next-best with 19 conceded. - They have kept 17 clean sheets already, and the Sochaux match was the first time they had conceded more than two goals in any one league game since a 4-3 win at Valenciennes FC on May 6 last year. - Wahbi Khazri's goal for SC Bastia in PSG's 3-1 win at the Parc des Princes in Week 24 brought Salvatore Sirigu's club record run of not conceding a goal to an end at 948 minutes. Sirigu had not conceded since Julien Féret scored for Rennes on November 17. In the game against LOSC Lille game in Week 22, the Italian beat Bernard Lama's 16-year-old record of 697 minutes. The eight clean sheets in a row equalled a PSG club record established between August and September Only Bastia and Ajaccio sit below PSG in the Fair Play table. PSG have collected 53 yellows - a tally only exceeded by Bastia (66) and five red cards. 4 - HOME FORM: PSG boast the second-best home record in L1, having picked up 30 points (9W 3D 2L) this season. - Only Montpellier Hérault SC have a better home record this season. They too have picked up 30 points and have a +17 goal difference, but have scored two more goals than PSG. - Olympique Lyonnais have registered 29 points at home this season from 13 games, one match fewer than either PSG and Montpellier. - AS Saint-Etienne and Stade Rennais FC inflicted back-to-back home defeats in Weeks 11 and 13, both ending in a 2-1 scoreline in favour of the visitors. - They have scored 24 times, conceding just seven times, a L1-best. - PSG have conceded just once, in the 3-1 win at home to Bastia in Week 24, in their current unbeaten run of seven home matches, winning six of them. - They have won their last three home games in L1. - Ibrahimovic has found the net eight times at home this season. - PSG have won all nine home games in which they have taken the lead this season. They have picked up a point from the three games in which they have conceded the opening goal. - PSG boast the highest average attendance in L1 at 42, COUPE DE LA LIGUE: PSG beat holders Marseille 2-0 in the last 16 before losing 5-3 on penalties at Saint-Etienne after a 0-0 draw in the quarter-finals. - COUPE DE FRANCE: PSG have been drawn to face Evian in the quarter-finals in mid-april. - PSG were 2-0 winners over Olympique de Marseille in the Round of 16 on Wednesday April 27. Ibrahimovic (34' and 64' pen.) scored both goals to take his tally to five in three games v OM this season. David Beckham made his first PSG start in the match and featured for 86 minutes. - The PSG team v OM featured eight changes from the L1 side three days previously, OM were unchanged. Substituted early on Wednesday, Christophe Jallet (adductors) is likely to miss his second successive L1 game while Jérémy Ménez (adductors) is also sidelined. - SUSPENSIONS: Suspended in European competition, Ibrahimovic and Marco Verratti are available. - TRIVIA - France coach Didier Deschamps was at the Parc des Princes on Wednesday evening for the Valencia game. - David Beckham received his MLS championship ring ahead of the Valencia game in midweek. - French media are reporting former French president Nicolas Sarkozy invited Mr and Mrs Beckham to dine with him and his family. - Though suspended, Ibrahimovic was at the Parc des Princes for Wednesday's game having made a short trip to Sweden earlier in the week. - AS NANCY-LORRAINE - GENERAL: Nancy are second-from-bottom of the table with 21 points from 27 matches (4W, 9D, 14L). They are six points adrift of FC Sochaux-Montbéliard in 17th. - Nancy triumphed 2-1 at Sochaux in Week 27, thanks to goals from Moukandjo (7' pen) and Florent Zitte (40') with Sloan Privat (90+4') replying. - The victory was Nancy's first after a run of three successive defeats in which they scored just once. - With the French Cup win (see below), ASNL have won their last two matches in all competitions. - In Week 22, Nancy recorded their first L1 win since the opening day of the season (1-0 v Brest). Nancy endured 11L and 9D before their 2-1 home success against FC Lorient. L1's record winless streak is held by AC Arles-Avignon (23 games in 10-11). - After 27 games last season, ASNL were 17th on 27 points, the same number as Dijon FCO directly below them though with a superior goal difference (-11 to -15). - Only Reims (23) have scored fewer times than Nancy this season (24). - Nancy have scored a L1-high 54 per cent of their league goals from free-kicks this season (13 of 24). - Nancy did not score between Week 2 and Week 9, but the Week 10 shutout in a 1-0 home loss to PSG in Week 10 was the last time they failed to score in any game before they drew consecutive blanks in defeats to Montpellier (1-0) and Saint-Etienne (0-3) in Weeks 25 and 26 respectively. - Sébastien Puygrenier is the team's leading L1 scorer with four goals while Yohan Mollo, who joined Saint-Etienne on loan in January, and Djamel Bakar have three each. - Romain Grange has a team-high three assists. The 30-year-old is on reported wages of 1 million Euros a month (after tax) which some in the French Socialist government labelled as "indecent". - On the same day Ibrahimovic signed, Italy's U-21 midfield star Marco Verratti, whom some have compared to Andrea Pirlo, joined from promoted Serie A side Pescara for a fee of around 11 million Euros. - Nene was PSG's top scorer in the season with 21 goals (nine penalties). Next best was Pastore with 13. Ménez created the most assists with Average home attendance 40,822 (90% of capacity). AS Nancy-Lorraine - Nancy returned to the top flight in 2005 after five seasons in Ligue 2. - Season is Nancy's 29th in France's top division. - Patrick Gabriel was named interim coach after Jean Fernandez, who'd been in charge for 18 months, left the club on January Gabriel was formerly reserve team coach, head of recruitment and, from May 2012 until his nomination as interim coach was in charge of the club's youth system. - Season saw Nancy finish in 11th place, three points behind tenth-placed Marseille and seven points atop the drop zone.
