2 PREVIEW : SM CAEN - PARIS SAINT-GERMAIN Feature Preview Paris Saint-Germain head to SM Caen on Wednesday looking to pick up their first away win of the season and kickstart their stuttering campaign. The French champions are just three points behind early pacesetters Olympique de Marseille after six games, but they are yet to triumph on their travels. Though unbeaten, Laurent Blanc's men have drawn all three away league outings this season, and even their habitually imperious home form deserted them last Sunday as Olympique Lyonnais left the Parc des Princes with a point thanks to Samuel Umtiti's late equaliser. "We don't have an answer because it's a difficult time in terms of results," acknowledged goalkeeper Salvatore Sirigu, who has been beaten in his club's last three competitive outings, all of which have ended in 1-1 scorelines after Paris had taken the lead. "It's frustrating, because we lead and I don't really know what happens. We concede goals at times when we think there's no danger, that we're in control of the game and it's a shame. What annoys us most is that we've done what we did last year, and for the last two or three years. That is to say training every day thinking about games and how to win them." Despite the hamstring injury to Thiago Silva, which has kept the Paris and Brazil captain on the sidelines for the whole of the league campaign so far, the Paris defence appears not to really shoulder the burden of blame as only two clubs have conceded fewer goals than Blanc's back four. It is rather at the opposite end of the pitch where the problems stem with the team - since their 5-0 dismissal of AS Saint-Etienne in Week 4 - struggling to find the ruthless streak required to kill games off. 'We're struggling a little with that, but we can't explain it because we give everything during games and also on a daily basis. We need just a spark, to make things more difficult for ourselves than usual, do something more, give 110 percent, because it's not enough." While Paris have problems on the road, Caen have exactly the opposite difficulty. Patrice Garande's newly-promoted men are the best L1 team on their travels, but have yet to even score a goal at home, nevermind pick up a point at the Stade Michel d'ornano. They were prolific at the Stadium in Toulouse last weekend, but threw away the lead three times in the south-west to make the long trip home with just a point after a thrilling 3-3 draw. "It was a nice game for the fans, but less so for us coaches. The Toulouse equaliser, which deprived us of the win, is all part of the learning process for us. For me too, because I should have insisted on the pressing to be done rather than celebrate the goal with my players," Garande, who saw Jean Calvé make it 3-2 four minutes from time only for Toulouse to level a minute later - two of four goals in a frenetic final 14 minutes. "It's still a good point as I would have settled for a draw before the game. The second half was good, but I'm frustrated by the first. The end of the game was a little mad because the two teams wanted to play, and that's promising. 3 HISTORY: Paris Saint-Germain have won seven of the 13 L1 meetings between the pair in Normandy - SM Caen have triumphed on four occasions. Despite the relatively large discrepancy in the number of wins in the fixture, the goal difference over the 13 encounters only reads in PSG's favour. LAST TIME: The Week 28 encounter in the season ended 2-2. Former Paris striker Pierre-Alain Frau (54') gave the hosts the lead only for Javier Pastore to quickly level (56'). Thomas Heurtaux (71') looked to have won it for SMC, but Christophe Jallet (90+1') struck to earn Paris a point. Paris had won the duo's meeting in Week Heurtaux (12') put the visitors ahead, but after Benjamin Nivet (19') had been sent off, Nene equalised (20' pen.) and struck again from the spot (76') after Jérémy Ménez (55') had also found the net. Jerry Vandam (82') reduced Caen's arrears, but Pastore (88') ensured the points remained in the capital. Paris are unbeaten on their last three visits to the Stade Michel d'ornano (2W 1D). Caen's last home league win over Paris came with a 3-0 triumph in April SM CAEN Caen come into Week 7 in tenth place on seven points (2W 1D 3L). After back-to-back 1-0 defeats, Caen drew 3-3 at Toulouse FC last time out. Florian Raspentino's seventh-minute opener was cancelled out by Wissam ben Yedder's penalty (21'). Lenny Nangis (76') restored Caen's lead before Adrien Regattin tucked away another spot-kick to level (83'). Jean Calvé (86') then scored for Caen, but Pavle Ninkov (87') struck as the spoils were shared. Caen have now conceded - and seen opponents score - four penalties this season. Caen had been the first leaders of the new season after a 3-0 win away to Evian-Thonon-Gaillard FC on the opening weekend. - It was and remains Caen's biggest top-flight victory since defeating Dijon FCO 3-0 in November Rémy Vercoutre, Damien Da Silva, Emmanuel Imorou, Jordan Adéoti, Julien Féret and Florian Raspentino all made their competitive debuts for Caen in that match, as did substitute Hervé Bazile. - Dennis Appiah, Imorou, Da Silva, Kanté, Adéoti, Mathieu Duhamel, Thomas Lemar and Bazile all made their Ligue 1 debuts against Evian. - Caen are back in Ligue 1 after winning promotion last season. They finished third in Ligue 2 with 64 points, 12 points behind champions FC Metz and three points ahead of AS Nancy-Lorraine in fourth. - Last season, Caen were never lower than eighth in the second tier, while they spend two weeks on top of the table in August. They clinched promotion with a 2-2 draw at Dijon on the final day. They ended last season with just one defeat in 15 matches. Caen have now been relegated from or promoted to Ligue 1 seven times in the last 11 seasons. Caen have scored eight times already this season - only three teams have found the net on more occasions. N'golo Kanté and Mathieu Duhamel both have a team-high two league goals. - Patrice Garande's side boasted the best attack in Ligue 2 last season, with 65 goals scored. Duhamel was the top individual scorer alongside Andy Delort of Tours on 24 goals. That run included 14 goals in his last 15 games. - Fayçal Fajr weighed in with eight goals and also provided 15 assists, the most in the division. Calvé laid on six goals. The Normandy side scored three or more goals on seven occasions last season, including in a 6-1 win against CA Bastia. They failed to score at all in just three matches. Caen have conceded six goals this season - only five teams have let in fewer. 4 - Garande's side conceded 44 goals last season, meaning they had only the joint ninth-best defence in Ligue 2. They kept ten clean sheets and conceded three goals in three separate matches. - Goalkeeper Damien Perquis was the only Caen player to start all 38 Ligue 2 matches last season. Kanté (36 starts/2 substitute appearances) was the only outfield player to appear in every match. Duhamel started 35 times, while winger Mathias Autret, on loan from Lorient, made 13 of his 30 appearances from the bench. - In pre-season, Stade Malherbe beat Rennes 2-0 thanks to goals by Bangaly-Fodé Koïta and Yrondu Musavu-King in the Normandy town of Vire. They then beat Le Havre 4-2 on penalties after a 0-0 draw to win the Trophée des Normands before beating third-tier Chambly 3-1 with goals from Mathieu Duhamel, Florian Raspentino and Sloan Privat at the northern beach resort of Le Touquet. At the same venue, Caen beat Lens 4-2 with Duhamel scoring a hat-trick and Koïta also netting, although they finished their preparations by losing 1-0 to third-tier SC Amiens. HOME FORM: Caen have the worst home record in the French top flight. They have the unenviable record of being the only club yet to pick up a point at home and have not scored a goal, having lost both home games to date 1-0. They slipped up against LOSC Lille in Week 2 and Stade Rennais FC in Week 4. Caen had the third-best home record in Ligue 2 last season. The Normandy side collected 38 points at the Stade Michel-d'Ornano, winning 11, drawing five and losing three of their 19 matches. They scored 33 goals and conceded 16 in front of their own fans. Only FC Metz, the champions, and Dijon collected more points at home in Ligue 2 last season. Caen's biggest home wins came against CA Bastia (6-1) and Istres (4-0). They were beaten at home by Metz (0-2), Nancy (1-2) and Tours (1-3). Caen average 12,716 fans per home game this season - the 16th-biggest attendance in L1. - Caen's average attendance last season was 10,794, the fourth-highest in the division. A high of 20,027 watched them lose to Tours FC, while a low of 6,974 watched them against Arles-Avignon FC. - The Normandy club's last home win in Ligue 1 dates back to May 2, 2012, when they beat FC Lorient 1-0 with a Heurtaux goal. - SUMMER TRANSFERS IN: Julien Féret from Stade Rennais FC, Emmanuel Imorou and Damien Da Silva from Clermont Foot, Jordan Adéoti from Stade Lavallois, Rémy Vercoutre from Olympique Lyonnais, Hervé Bazile from Vendée Poiré-sur-Vie, Florian Raspentino from Olympique de Marseille, Sloan Privat on loan from KAA Gent (BEL). - OUT: Fayçal Fajr to Elche (ESP), Thomas Bosmel to AC Arles-Avignon, Aurélien Montaroup to US Créteil-Lusitanos, Lamine Fall to Chamois Niortais, Laurent Agouazi (released), Jonathan Kodjia returned to Stade de Reims after loan, Mathias Autret returned to FC Lorient after loan. -TEAM NEWS: Felipé Saad (adductors) and Imorou (thigh) both missed the Toulouse game; Duhamel (ankle) shook off his problem to feature in the starting XI. - PARIS SAINT-GERMAIN - GENERAL: Paris came into Week 7 in fifth place with ten points from six games. They have won two and drawn four of their games to date and sat two points behind leaders Olympique de Marseille. On Sunday, Laurent Blanc's side drew 1-1 at home to Olympique Lyonnais. Edinson Cavani (20') opened the scoring, but Samuel Umtiti levelled (84'). It was Paris' second successive 1-1 draw in L1 and their third in all competitions. In each of those matches, they have gone in front only to be pegged back. Paris are unbeaten in eight matches in all competitions this season and have not lost in ten altogether since May. Their last competitive defeat came in Week 36 last season when they went down 2-1 at home to Stade Rennais FC. - PSG are unbeaten in their last 19 Ligue 1 games played in the month of September. They drew 0-0 at Evian-Thonon-Gaillard in Week 3. - Zlatan Ibrahimovic is their leading scorer with five goals, including a hat-trick against Saint-Etienne - only OM's André-Pierre Gignac has more L1 goals this season (6). The Swede has scored seven in all competitions, but has drawn a blank in each of his last three outings. Edinson Cavani has scored three in Ligue 1 and has four in all competitions. - Ibrahimovic finished Ligue 1 top scorer for the second successive season last season with 26 goals, four fewer than his previous campaign in France. Team-mate Cavani was the top-flight's joint-second top scorer with 16 goals. Ibrahimovic scored 41 goals in all competitions last season, beating Carlos Bianchi's previous club record of 39 goals in one campaign, set in Cavani netted 25 altogether and Lavezzi got 12 goals in total. - Gregory van der Wiel, Marco Verratti and Javier Pastore have all supplied two assists so far this season. - Ibrahimovic provided 11 assists last season, a tally bettered only by AS Monaco FC's James Rodriguez (12). - PSG's total of 84 goals scored last season was the highest of any Ligue 1 team - Monaco, who had the second-highest tally, scored Paris have conceded only four goals thus far. Only LOSC Lille (1) and Montpellier Hérault SC (2) had let in fewer goals coming into the weekend. They have kept three clean sheets so far. - PSG conceded a league-low 23 goals last season, three fewer than LOSC Lille, who had the second-best defensive record. - Cavani, Marquinhos, Salvatore Sirigu, Marco Verratti, Pastore and Lucas have appeared in all six Ligue 1 matches so far this season. - Ezequiel Lavezzi had made three appearances from the bench before being included in the starting XI for the first time in Week 6. - Paris have picked up one red card so far this season: Yohan Cabaye was given his marching orders in the 0-0 draw at Evian-Thonon-Gaillard FC in Week 3. AWAY FORM: While Caen have the best away record in the division, PSG can boast only the ninth-best tally, having picked up three points to date. PSG opened the season with a 2-2 draw at Reims, and they followed that with a goalless draw at Evian-Thonon-Gaillard FC in Week 4 and a 1-1 draw at Stade Rennais FC in Week 6. They have drawn all four competitive away fixtures this season - their last away win came at LOSC Lille in Week 37 of last season (1-3). - PSG had the best away record of any L1 side last season. They tallied 41 points (12W 5D 2L) on their travels. - Their two losses came at Evian-Thonon-Gaillard FC in Week 16 (2-0) and at Olympique Lyonnais in Week 33 (1-0). - They top scored with 33 goals and conceded the fewest of any team (16). - TROPHÉE DES CHAMPIONS: PSG claimed the season-opening Trophée des Champions for the second year running, beating EA Guingamp 2-0 in Beijing.
