3 Chairman s Chatter Good Afternoon and welcome to the Trevor Brown Memorial Ground for today s Birmingham Saturday Vase fixture against Kenilworth Town KH. I extend a warm welcome to the players, officials and supporters of Kenilworth who have made the journey here today. This is our third cup game in a row after the postponement of the Glades away fixture last weekend. After bowing out of the Smedley Crooke Memorial Cup by 3 goals to nil against Pilkington XXX, we bounced back to record an excellent 4-0 away victory at Pelsall Villa in the Les James Challenge Cup. Let s look for more cup progress today as we look to establish that winning mentality that will hopefully help us to improve our league form, especially with the tough set of fixtures we have over the coming months. I firmly believe our league position is a false one, but believe we will have a greater indication of our prospects for the season once the Christmas fixtures have been completed. The task of rebuilding the squad from scratch is now complete and I believe we can boast a squad of which our supporters can be justifiably proud. I must thank our management trio of Martin Asante, Jason Lanns and Phil Morris for their hard work in putting this squad together. The spirit in the camp is excellent and I hope we can keep this group of lads together for many years to come. Matthew Dainty Chairman, Paget Rangers Manager's Notes Good Afternoon and welcome to today's match vs Kenilworth Town KH. 7 wins, 3 draws and 3 defeats in our last thirteen games is a much happier statistic to read when compared with our early season form and following on from our extensive squad rebuilding programme we now have a team that is more than capable to compete with the very best in our division. Our journey through the rest of the season will not be without twists and turns, but we now have a squad united that will be able to cope with the pressures that the season will no doubt bring. It has been noticed by many that we are the most active in the MFL when placing transfer request for players. If the right player becomes available this will continue to be our policy and we will always look to bring the best players to the team. Paget Rangers are an extremely ambitious football club where the committee, football management and chairman will only accept the very best. The support for Paget Rangers is growing and we thank are more senior fans for turning out in some of the most unpleasant weather conditions, this was particularly evident at Pelsall where our fans were present in large numbers. I will be asking one fan at each home game to take their place in the dressing room before our home games. We will be the first club to do this and is shows the fans we do value them. Spread the word, Paget Rangers are a force to be reckoned with and we are ready to shock the league with some great individual and team performances. The youth players are also tasting success with the first team as Mitchell Dunbar competed in our 4-0 defeat of Pelsall Villa in the cup. 4 Welcome today s opponents: Kenilworth Town KH FC Kenilworth Town FC was formed in In 2005 the club changed their name but resigned from the Midland Combination Division 1. In season the first team took over their reserves place in Division 3. The following season they were promoted to Division 2. In Kenilworth Town KH were runners-up in Division 2 and so were promoted to Division 1. In 2010 the club left the Midland Combination as a cost cutting measure. They continued to run two teams in the Stratford Alliance before rejoining the Midland Combination in , when they finished 13th. Last season, after a slow start, Kenilworth Town KH won the Midland Combination Division 2 title by one point from Coventry United. 5 Simon says. Welcome to this afternoon s game against Kenilworth Town KH in the Birmingham County Saturday Vase and we wish them well, result apart. The game today sees us again on the trail of cup glory and with a number of new players being brought into the club and hopefully an improvement on the performance in the last home game against Pilkington XXX should see us progress. Kenilworth Town KH are just below us in the league so a competitive match is hopefully ahead of us today. Cup matches are always full of expectation and last weekend s FA Cup matches were no different and the excitement of the fans of non-league club were wetted with the likes of Warrington Town from the Evostik League taking on Exeter City on the Friday night in a game shown live on BBC2 and it was great to see them win 1-0 with Craig Robinson hitting the winner home. I remember watching him when he played for Ashton United where he was also player/manager. It will have been a happy Robinson family with Craig's brother Karl managing MK Dons who beat Port Vale. It was also great to see Worcester City beating Coventry at the Ricoh Arena. For me the excitement of the FA Cup never diminishes however much Premier League clubs might concentrate on the European competitions and I'm sure all the fans of the pro clubs facing non-league clubs were biting their nails. As someone who also follows the Women's games, this week has seen the latest round of the Women's Champions League. The clubs are now in the last 16 and the UK this week had two clubs competing with Bristol Academy beating Barcelona 1-0 on Saturday with them due to face each other five days later on Thursday 13th November at Ashton Gate, Bristol. Glasgow City faced Zurich on Sunday but lost 2-1 away so will be looking to improve on that performance with the return game on Tuesday 11th November. The Linkopings from Sweden, who beat Liverpool in the previous round, had a big victory last Saturday with a 5-0 home win against Zvezda and in Fridolina Rolfö they have one of European Women's brightest stars. The current holders VfB Wolfsburg meanwhile won 5-0 in the first leg so will be the team to beat. The women's game is going from strength to strength and this is shown in the sell out for the England v Germany international which will be played at Wembley in front of over 55,000 fans in what will be a record crowd. Outside of the world of football, it was good to see the English rugby sides in action against The All Blacks in both codes, with England Rugby League going down in the early hours before the crowd at Twickenham saw an exciting game England taking an initial lead before the All Blacks came back to win convincingly.
