The fllwing infmatin will assist yu thugh this pcess. f i e - p Geneal a Lighting t Infmatin s. c m Lighting Pcedue: Pushing the ON buttn sends a adi fequency signal t the mdule. This sends pwe t the pilt assembly and the spaking begins. The gas valve will pen, sending gas t the pilt. Spaking stps afte the sens ecgnizes the flame and bune ignitin is cmplete. ON/OFF/Cntinuus Pilt allws yu t activate the cntinuus pilt featue and allws the use f a standing pilt. Cntl Mdule (AF-4000MOD-1) Bain f the system; has built in fault cdes: The mdule, inside the valve bx, cntls the peatin f the valve kit. If mdule detects a pblem, it will begin emitting a seies f audible beeps (fault cdes). The audible beeps indicate a fault and will assist in lcating the pblem. Fault Cdes Ignitin Safety 1 beep evey 1 secnd Ignit will nt spak / Bune has nt ignited within 60 secnds. Gas is ON; line is puged f ai and n blckage in the pilt and main lines. Flame sens wiing is nt wn, fayed, pinched damaged. Discnnect S wie fm mdule and pess ON n tansmitte. Is thee a ticking sund at mdule? If Yes, mdule is wking as designed, check pilt assembly. If N ticking sund, check battey vltage. Battey vltage shuld be a minimum f 5.3 vlts DC in the battey pack if using a AF-4000ADP24 DC Adapte, a minimum 6.75 t maximum 8.25 vlts DC. If ppe vltage is btained, mdule needs t be eplaced. Themal Safety 4 beeps evey 2 secnds Oveheating Intenal mdule tempeatue exceeds 170 degees F. Cntl mdule must stay inside the valve bx. Neve mve utside the lcatins. If valve bx is t clse t bune, mve t cle lcatin. If glass ds ae installed they need t be fully pened duing peatin. Othe Symptms Bune Flame Will Nt Mdulate O Wks Backwads Battey vltage shuld be a minimum f 5.3 vlts DC in the battey pack and a minimum f 9.0 vlts DC in the tansmitte. Red indicat light n tansmitte illuminates when buttns ae pessed. 4-pin cnnect fm mdule t battey pack is secue. 4

5 Red and black wies fm battey pack ae cnnected t ed and black wies n slenid/mt. Black wie shuld be n the utside and ed wie shuld be n the inside n the teminal blck. (Fig. 3) Battey pack is in the ppe psitin. AFVK-SP-H/L shuld be in the latching slenid psitin AFVK-SP-MH/L shuld be in the DC mt dive psitin. Place ne wie, fm the slenid/mt dive, n the (+) teminal and ne n the ( ) teminal f the 9 vlt battey. This shuld adjust yu flame eithe HI LO. Revese the wies and it shuld adjust the flame in the ppsite diectin. If this fails, the slenid/mt dive shuld be eplaced. Flame Height Seems HI/LO IMPORTANT: Valve Kits ae shipped Natual gas (NG) fm Skytech. If using LP gas, make sue that yu have fllwed the LP gas cnvesin pcedue t cnvet fm Natual (NG) t LP, befe checking f i the fllwing: e - p a t s. c m Gas valve egulat is selected t ppe gas being used. Remve egulat cap lcated n the fnt f the valve. t see if stem indicates ppe gas type. If nt, push stem in and tun t ppe gas type; eplace cap. (See Fig. 4 thu 7) Use ppe ifice f the cect type f gas being used. (Using a LP ifice while using NG gas will cause lw flame height; and using a NG ifice n LP will cause high flame and sting). Lw gas line pessue and blckage in the lines will affect the flame height. Cntact a qualified gas technician. Cntact gas lg manufactue f ppe bune specificatins. Clea memy f the mdule Pess and hld the Lean buttn f 10 secnds, elease; yu shuld hea 3 lng beeps. Pess and immediately elease the Lean buttn again and yu shuld hea an audible beep. Pess and hld the ON buttn n the tansmitte, yu shuld hea a seies f beeps, spaking shuld ccu, elease the ON buttn. Bune Des Nt Light But Pilt Is ON LP Gas Fig. 6 Tansmitte shuld be within feet f the valve. Battey vltage shuld be a minimum f 5.3 vlts DC in the battey pack and a minimum f 9.0 vlts DC in the tansmitte. Can yu tun the unit ON by the cke switch n the fnt f the valve bx? Tun the Remte/Off switch n the valve bx t the OFF psitin. Push in (-) n the cke switch. Des the bune ignite? If Yes, the valve is wking as designed manually. Tun Remte/Off switch back t the Remte psitin. Relean the tansmitte t the mdule, by fllwing the f i e - p a t s. c m steps t lean tansmitte t mdule listed abve. If N, and battey vltage is gd in battey pack and tansmitte eleans, check vltage n the main side f the valve. (A qualified technician shuld d pcedue). 7 Pcedues F Qualified Technicians: Test Vltage t Gas Valve: Using a multi-mete, set the test leads t VDC. Inset each test lead wie int the 2-pin cnnect n the gas valve maked MAIN (geen and white wies). (See Fig 10). Using the emte, tun unit n, immediately yu shuld see 6 VDC and then dp t 1.5 VDC. Fllw the same pcedue with the 2-pin cnnect n gas valve maked PILOT (ange and white wies). (See Fig. 7). If yu d nt get the 6 VDC vlts, fm the MAIN and PILOT, the mdule shuld be eplaced. Fig. 7 Test Resistance f the Bune Cil at Gas Valve: This tests whethe valve can pen clse. Using a multi-mete, set the test leads t VDC. Remve the geen/white 2-pin cnnect labeled MAIN fm the gas valve. Tuch ne lead fm the vlt mete t each pin n the valve. (See Fig. 8). Cil esistance shuld ead 990 Ohms t 1230 Ohms. f If i esistance e falls utside - f p these limits, a the gas valve t shuld s be eplaced.. c m Test Static and Opeating Line Pessue: static and peating line pessue, (shuld nt see me than 2 wate clumn diffeence between static and peating). Static pessue is the gas pessue cming t the gas valve befe the valve is in peatin. Static Pessue: Natual Gas = WC. & LP Gas WC. Opeating Pessue: Natual Gas = 4.7 WC. & LP = WC. Fig. 8 7
