3 1. GENERAL DESCRIPTION The Lighting & Pwer Unit TYPE LPU57 is a series f stainless steel sheet metal enclsures fitted with pwer input cnnectrs and utput cnnectrs. The LPU57 is designed t huse a suitably certified equipment such as the Austdac AC36W and ther permissible mdules. The LPU57 is available as a 1, 2 r 4 pwer supply versins. These are identified as LPU57-1, LPU57-2 and LPU57-4. The LPU57 dimensins are apprximately; LPU57-1 LPU57-2 LPU mm (D) x 340mm (W) x 145mm (H) 495mm (D) x 340mm (W) x 200mm (H) 655mm (D) x 340mm (W) x 200mm (H) The LPU57 has tw integral munting flanges, screw fastened remvable cver, varius cmbinatins f pwer feeder gland prts r cnnectrs and utput I.S. cnnectr prts. The interir f the LPU57 has sufficient vlume t huse an Austdac suitably certified mdule such as the type AC36W pwer supply. The LPU57 has an ingress prtectin rating f IP66. Pwer is prvided t the enclsed pwer supply r permissible mdule via suitable explsin prtected cables passed thrugh Ex e gland r Ex de cnnectr munted in the wall f the LPU57 enclsure. A secnd Ex e gland r Ex de cnnectr is prvided t allw pwer t be lped in and ut f several LPU57 enclsures. Terminal blcks are prvided within the LPU57 t terminate incming and utging pwer feeder cables as well as terminating pwer input cnnectins f the permissible mdule. The maximum current in the feeder cable is limited t 35 amperes. The exterir and interir f the LPU57 enclsure are prvided with earth studs t allw cnnectin f earthing facilities t maintain the certificatin and installatin requirements f the separately certified permissible mdule r pwer supply unit. 4 2. WARNINGS AND PRECAUTIONS WARNING Lethal vltages and currents are present within the LPU57. Mains vltages are present within the LPU57. DC Vltages greater than 300V may be present within the LPU57. The LPU57 must be earthed. An assembled LPU57 weighs in excess f 30kg. PRECAUTIONS Only qualified persnnel shall install and service the LPU57. Use persnal prtectin equipment. Ensure that earth cnnectins are tested. USER ACCESS There are n user serviceable parts within the LPU57. STORAGE, INSTALLATION, USE AND MAINTAINANCE REQUIREMENTS The LPU57 shuld nly be installed, perated and maintained by qualified persnnel. Ensure that all instructins and warnings are bserved. 5 3. INSTALLATION Prir t installatin the LPU57 shuld be inspected fr the fllwing; Any external damage t the enclsure. Any damage, scre marks r freign debris t any glands r cnnectrs. Check all glands and cnnectrs are secured crrectly and tighten as necessary. The LPU57 may require the lid t be remved fr installatin. When the lid is remved the fllwing inspectin is required; Inspect fr any damage r faults with the gasket. Inspect fr any damage, scre marks r distrtin f the gasket sealing surfaces. Check that there are n freign bjects, debris, misture r cntaminants within the LPU57. Ensure that the mains wiring and extra lw vltage utput wiring are separated by at least 50mm. Check wiring fr any signs f damage. Check terminals fr any signs f damage. Cnfirm that the cntinuity f the earthing f the LPU57, case and external prtective earths is less than 0.1 hms and f a suitably rated cable. The LPU57 shuld be installed in a cver area. The LPU57 shuld be munted t a stable surface aviding areas under cnstant vibratin and shck. Ensure that the LPU57 is adequately secured t the munting area. Ensure that all screws, washers and sealing gaskets are fitted. Ensure that cabling entering the LPU57 is rated t a minimum f 90ºC. 4. PERMISSABLE MODULES The LPU57 is capable f husing ne f several permissible mdules depending n the certificatin status f the individual mdule. TYPE LPU57 USER MANUAL 5 OF 6 Issue: 03

6 5. POWER INPUT Pwer input t the LPU57 may be via an Ex de cnnectr r via cable and an Ex e gland. The pwer circuit must include a pilt circuit t de-energise the pwer in the event that the pwer circuit is brken. In the case f a cable and gland arrangement the cable shuld be rated t a minimum f 90ºC. 6. CABLE GLANDS The LPU57 is certified t allw separately certified cable glands t be fitted t allw entry f pwer feeder cables. The certificatin f the cable glands must match that f the area f installatin and use. Only cable glands that prvide a minimum ingress prtectin rating f IP66 shuld be used with the LPU57. Cable glands shuld be installed in accrdance with the gland manufacturer s instructins and in such a way t preserve the IP66 ingress prtectin rating f the enclsure. 7. TERMINATIONS The LPU57 prvides terminals fr the terminatin f the pwer feeder cables. The LPU57 is supplied with terminals capable f terminating 16mm 2 cnductrs. An M6 earth stud is als prvided adjacent t pwer cnductr terminatins t allw fr earth terminatin f feeder cable screens r braids. The terminal blcks used within the LPU57 t terminate the feeder cables are ff a spring clamp cnstructin i.e. the cnductrs are nt clamped by tightening a screw they are clamped by a spring mechanism. The spring clamp is pened by inserting a 3mm flat blade screw driver int the rectangular cntrl slt f the terminal. Cnductrs require 18-20mm f the insulatin t be remved. An ptinal 18mm insulated ferrule may be fitted. 8. CERTIFICATION The LPU57 has been awarded IECEx certificatin certificate number IECEx SIM X. The LPU57-x marking cde is as fllws, Ex d e ma [ia] I Mb. The LPU57-xR marking cde is as fllws, Ex d e ma [ia] mb I Mb. Please refer t the certificate fr further details. 9. SPECIFICATIONS Size...
