Intrductin This Area Light series luminaire is designed fr illuminatin f hazardus lcatins. It uses the latest in slid state lighting technlgy fr lng life, lw maintenance, and high efficiency. The unique ptical design fcuses light dwnward t where it is needed, giving imprved efficiency ver a cnventinal HID luminaire. Cnfrmity t Standards This equipment cnfrms t the standards specified in the Authrizatin t Mark. It has been designed, manufactured and tested in accrdance with UL1598 and UL844. Installatin Ensure that the mains vltage supply is discnnected befre cnnecting the luminaire. Install the equipment in accrdance with the manufacturer s instructins as well as any ther applicable electric cdes. Always transprt and stre the equipment in its riginal packaging and keep in a dry lcatin. When unpacking check fr any cracks r damage in the husing, glass, and glass frame. If in dubt, d nt install. Fr best ptical perfrmance Dialight Crpratin recmmends munting the 180 ptic at a 45 angle with respect t the vertical munting ple r wall. Nte: Arrws pint ppsite the directin f light pattern. Refer t fr the mst up t date infrmatin n available munting brackets, hardware and accessries. NOTE: Imprper installatin and peratin f this luminaire may invalidate the warranty Cable Entries This prduct is nt t be cnnected t cnduit. Cables are required t be a minimum f 18awg (1.5mm diameter). M20 plugs shipped with unit are fr packaging nly and must be replaced with suitably rated IP66/67 r better metal blanking plugs r crd grips which include a sealing -ring. Blanking plugs and crd grips must be fitted with metal lcking nuts in rder t maintain UL844 certificatin. Entry devices must be suitable fr use within an perating temperature range f -20 C t +90 C. When cnnecting the cnductrs extra care shuld be taken in rder t maintain the hazardus prtectin. The insulatin f the cnductrs shall reach up t the terminal blck. The cnductr itself shall nt be damaged. The AC2 cnnectin is a switchable live feed. It pwers the unit in nrmal mde peratin. The AC1 cnnectin is a cntinuus live feed that allws the unit t be switched ff withut the unit entering battery backup mde. Single Fixture Electrical Cnnectins When assembling the cable entries fr the mains cnnectin, always bserve the manufacturer s specificatins fr the crd grips used. Unused cable entries must be clsed and sealed by a certified blanking plug. Lp Thrugh Electrical Cnnectins Cnnect incming cable then cnnect the utging cable t the assciated adjining cnnectin t pass t the next luminaire. Only single cables t be used n each cnnectin. The cable entries shuld be securely tightened t ensure that the minimum prtectin rating is achieved. The cable entry shuld be rated t minimum f IPX6 t maintain the prtectin level f the fixture. D nt ver tighten as the prtectin rating may be cmprmised. In Service, Battery Charging & Cnditin Mnitring If the mains pwer supply is interrupted, the fixture will switch t battery backup mde perating at reduced light utput. When pwer is applied (initially r after an utage), the battery will charge fr apprximately 36 hurs. The battery is cntinually mnitred fr vltage limits and charge current acceptance (during charge pulses). Installatin Steps Secure the munting bracket nt applicatin surface by means f the hle pattern n munting bracket (Shwn in the Technical Diagrams sectin f this manual). It is recmmended that suitably sized flat washers be used when munting the luminaire t the applicatin surface. Recmmended munting height: 8 feet t 24 feet (2.4 m t 7.3 m) If Light Fixture Aiming is Required Lsen center pivting M8 scket head cap screw [d nt remve] n bth sides f light fixture as shwn in Figure 1. T cnnect surce wires, press dwn n the tabs n tp f the terminal blck [with tl] and hld. Insert stripped surce wire, release tab, the terminal shuld nw have engaged the inserted wire.

The crd grip is nt supplied with light fixture.* Install as per crd grip manufacturer recmmendatin. Must be installed with lck nut t maintain UL844 cmpliance.

T cnnect surce wires, press dwn n the tabs n tp f the terminal blck [with tl] and hld. Insert stripped surce wire, release tab, the terminal shuld nw have engaged the inserted wire. Cnditins fr Use When used with steel wired armr r braided cable the basket weave armr r braid is unable t carry the cable lad withut fracture. Therefre the cable must be clamped and cleated t prevent pulling n the cable being transmitted t the cable terminatins. Luminaires supplied with a fitted cable must be prtected frm direct r vibratinal impact t prevent damage t the sheathing when perated in ambient temperatures belw -30 C. Imprper installatin and peratin f this luminaire may invalidate the warranty. Fr maximum lng term reliability and light utput, the luminaire must be installed in free air. The SafeSite Area Light fixture design incrprates an ver- temperature cntrl circuit that reduces input pwer shuld internal temperatures reach a maximum level. In this event light utput may be reduced.

Remval f the lens will vid the warranty. Perfrm visual, mechanical and electrical inspectins n a regular basis. We recmmend rutine checks t be made n a yearly basis. Frequency f use and envirnment shuld determine this. It is recmmended t fllw an Electrical Preventive Maintenance Prgram as described in NFPA 70B: Recmmended Practice fr Electrical Equipment. The lens shuld be cleaned peridically as needed t ensure cntinued phtmetric perfrmance. Clean the lens with a damp, nn-abrasive, lint-free clth. If nt sufficient, use mild sap r a liquid cleaner. Inspect the cling fins n the luminaire t ensure that they are free f any bstructins r cntaminatin (i.e. excessive dust build-up). Clean with a nn-abrasive clth if needed. D nt perate if the lens is cracked r damaged. All fasteners shuld be prperly seated This LED Luminaire shuld require a minimum amunt f maintenance. If any unfreseen repairs are required then always bserve explsin prtectin regulatins and requirements. This LED Luminaire shuld nt require any electrical maintenance. Never pen the luminaire (ther than the junctin bx lid if supplied); there are n userserviceable parts inside. Inspectin Within the scpe f a maintenance r inspectin rutine the fllwing shuld be included: prtective hses cvering the cnnectin cables. Cable entries must be free f crrsin. Dispsal Recycling When the apparatus is dispsed f, the respective natinal regulatins n waste dispsal shuld be bserved. WEEE (Waste electrical & electrnic equipment) registratin number WEE/DC2678RY. Repairs / Overhaul / Mdificatin The relevant natinal regulatins which apply t the maintenance / servicing f electrical apparatus in explsive atmspheres shall be bserved. Shuld the luminaire enclsure be damaged, nly a replacement will be permitted. In case f dubt, the equipment shuld be returned t pint f purchase fr inspectin/repair/replacement. Mdificatins t the device r changes t its design are nt permitted. The equipment must be perated accrding t the intended purpse in a perfect and undamaged cnditin Chemical Cmpatibility Guide The chemical cmpatibility data referenced in this manual was supplied by the raw material manufacturers and is intended as a general guide.
