STEP 1: GENERAL INFORMATION ON PRODUCT COMPATIBILITY Cngratulatins n yur purchase f EK-Supremacy universal CPU water blck. This water blck is pre-assembled* fr use with mdern AMD r Intel desktp scket type mtherbards. By default this water blck supprts the fllwing CPU sckets: - Intel scket LGA-775, LGA-1155/1156, LGA-1366 and LGA AMD scket S754/939/940, AMD AMx and FM1 Water blck tp Gaskets Munting plate Jet plate Cpper base STEP 2: TABLE OF CONTENT The fllwing items are enclsed with each EK-Supremacy water blck: - EK-Supremacy universal CPU water blck - EK-TIM Indig Extreme thermal interface material - PreciseMunt universal CPU munting mechanism: M4 threaded thumb screws (4 pcs) Springs (4 pcs) M4 threaded thumb nuts (4 pcs) Washers (4 pcs) - LGA-2011 M4 threaded munting studs (4 pcs) - Spare AMD / Intel munting plate - Backplate rubber gasket - Backplate fr Intel LGA-1366 and AMD scket mtherbards - Backplate fr Intel LGA-115x scket mtherbards - Allen (hex) key 2.5mm - Additinal jet plates: Jet J2 (1.0mm thick) ptimized fr LGA-1155/1156 CPUs Jet J3 (0.7mm thick) ptimized fr LGA-2011 CPUs Screws *: depending n the variant. EK-Supremacy Elite Editin AMD AMx & FM1 is shipped factry pre-assembled with AMD munting plate. Cautin: Narrw server type LGA-2011 is nt supprted by default a Munting plate Supremacy LGA-2011 Narrw ILM (EAN: ) is mandatry t install this water blck n narrw server type LGA-2011 mtherbards. STEP 3.1 (ptinal): INSTALLING AMD MOUNTING PLATE AND REPLACING JET PLATE PROCEDURE 1) Place water blck n an even surface and remve the fur M4x14 DIN7991 screws attaching the tp t the cpper base using the enclsed 2.5mm Allen key. 2) Replacing munting plate: 2.1) Replace the Intel munting plate with AMD ne. Yu will feel the munting plate lcking int the psitin when placed crrectly n t the tp. 2.2) Reseat the larger -ring gasket (57x2 mm) int the gap between the munting plate and water blck tp. Skip t step #4 t cmplete installatin. 3) Replacing jet plate: 3.1) Remve the default jet J1 (0.8mm thick) and replace it with jet J2 r jet J3, depending n yur CPU platfrm. Yu will feel the jet plate lcking int the psitin when placed crrectly t the tp. Reinstall smaller -ring gasket if needed prir t replacing jet plate. 4) Carefully place cpper base t waterblck tp assembly, make sure gaskets stay in place! Beware f cpper base rientatin! 5) Repeat step #4 if necassery. Screw in all fur (4) M4x14 DIN7991 screws using the enclsed 2.5mm Allen (hex) key. Step #2.2 Step #3.1 Step #4 Step #2.1 STEP 4: PREPARING BACKPLATE RUBBER GASKET The enclsed rubber gasket is essential part f the backplate and munting system and must be used every time yu install this water blck. The rubber backplate has a partially cut inner part which needs t be remved when installed n Intel LGA-115x and LGA-2011 mtherbard. The rubber is held n fur places and can be peeled away with hand. These tw pieces can be reassembled later if needed. Intel LGA-115x and LGA-1366 scket: Remve the inner cre f the rubber and use the uter part nly. AMD sckets: Use the whle rubber backplate including the inner cre. Outer part Inner cre (remvable) All disclsures, ntices and warranty cnditins are being written n the back f the bx. Revisin 1.0. STEP 5: INSTALLING THE WATER BLOCK: STEP 5a: Intel LGA-775, -1366 and AMD scket mtherbard: 1) Place mtherbard n an even surface with frnt facing dwn.

Align the hles n the mtherbard with hles n rubber gasket and backplate.

4) Install the rest f munting system as per installatin manual (see STEP 6) STEP 5b: Intel LGA-115x scket mtherbard: 1) Place mtherbard n an even surface with frnt facing dwn.

Make sure t rientate the rubber gasket t fit past the CPU scket ILM backplate.

2 STEP 5: INSTALLING THE WATER BLOCK: STEP 5a: Intel LGA-775, and AMD scket mtherbard: 1) Place mtherbard n an even surface with frnt facing dwn. 2) Install backplate rubber gasket - depending n yur CPU platfrm (see STEP 4) - and place metal backplate fr Intel LGA-1366 and AMD scket t the back f yur mtherbard. Align the hles n the mtherbard with hles n rubber gasket and backplate. 3) Carefully rtate mtherbard assembly with frnt side facing up with ne hand while hlding the backplate and rubber in place with the ther hand. 4) Install the rest f munting system as per installatin manual (see STEP 6) STEP 5b: Intel LGA-115x scket mtherbard: 1) Place mtherbard n an even surface with frnt facing dwn. 2) Install backplate rubber gasket - depending n yur CPU platfrm (see STEP 4) - and place metal backplate fr Intel LGA-115x scket t the back f yur mtherbard. Align the hles n the mtherbard with hles n rubber gasket and backplate. It is mandatry t put 0.7mm plastic washer underneath each f the M4 thumb screws. Tighten the M4 thumb screw t the metal backplate with yur hands until yu reach the end f the thread. Using tls (such as pliers) is nt recmmended! Intel Scket LGA-2011: Install fur (4) specific LGA-2011 M4 thumb screws int fur M4 threaded stubs n the LGA-2011 scket integrated latch mechanism (ILM). The screws are t be installed using n tls (i.e. pliers). Imprper installatin may will result in pr thermal prperties f yur EK-Supremacy Elite Editin series water blck! Remember, EK-TIM Indig Extreme is nt re-usable nce reflw prcess is started. STEP 5e: Fastening the waterblck: Install the waterblck n yur CPU. Place an enclsed cmpressin spring and thumb nut ver each M4 thumb screw. Start fastening tw thumb nuts at a time, preferably in crss pattern and d nt tighten them fully until all f them are partially screwed in. Then - using yur fingers nly - screw in all fur thumb nuts until yu reach the end f the thread. Thumb nut Ciled spring STEP 6: CONNECTING WATER BLOCK TO THE COOLING CIRCUIT Carefully identify the directin f the flw in yur circuit. Fr the EK-Supremacy series water blck t perate prperly the G1/4 prt nearest t the center f the water blck MUST BE USED AS THE INLET PORT. EK recmmends the use f EK-PSC fittings. When using fittings ther than EK-PSC series please use hse clamps r apprpriate substitute t secure the tubing t the barb. The use f bicide cntaining and crrsin inhibiting clant is always recmmended fr any liquid cling system. STEP 1: QUICK OVERVIEW STEP 1.1: EK-TIM Indig Xtreme: Engineered Thermal Interface fr Scket 1366 (Intel Cre i7 prcessrs) Indig Xtreme is an Engineered Thermal Interface (ETI) that fits neatly between a CPU lid and heat sink r waterblck t keep CPUs cler. EK-TIM Indig Extreme Installatin Manual fr use with EK-Supremacy Series CPU Water Blcks STEP 1.2: Cmpatibility List: Supprted Hardware: Supprted CPUs: Scket 1366 Cre i7 Supprted Water Blcks: All EK-Supremacy series water blcks Plexi Acetal Full Cpper Full Nickel Attempting t use Indig Xtreme with CPUs r water blcks ther than thse specified may result in degraded perfrmance r interfacial failure (See: Supprted Hardware). STEP 1.3: ETI Kit Cntents: The Indig Xtreme ETI is ffered as part f an Engineered Thermal Interface Kit. This kit includes several cleanrm-grade surface cleaning prducts fr (2) cmplete installatins. The ETI kit includes: Indig Xtreme ETIs (2 installatins) Cleanrm-grade dry wiper clths Indig Xtreme Clean (sample size) Pair f pwder-free nitrile glves Detailed Installatin Guide Check the cnditin f the ETI kit befre installatin; if any prblem is fund, cntact EKWB fr a replacement. STEP 2.2: Thermal Interface Cmpund (grease) Remval: Using the supplied dry wiper clth, apply pressure t thrughly remve any existing interface grease frm the CPU lid and water blck. Clean with fresh areas f the wiper clth until n visible grease residue is detected n the wiper. If remving metal pad r liquid metal TIM residue, refer t manufacturer s specific cleaning methds. Prir t the installatin and reflw f Indig Xtreme d nt disable the Thermal Cntrl feature that prtects yur CPU frm verheating. STEP 2: INSTALLATION PROCEDURE Read entire instructins befre using EK-TIM Indig Xtreme. Cmputer perating system and temperature mnitring utilities must be installed prir t use. Cntact EKWB Supprt if yu have any questins. Prir t installing EK-TIM Indig Xtreme, cmplete the water blck assembly (thru Step 5C) as illustrated in the EK-Supremacy installatin manual. STEP 2.1: Mtherbard, CPU and Blck Remval: Remve the mtherbard frm the PC case. Remve the CPU frm the mtherbard scket and place n a nn-abrasive, lint-free surface fr cleaning. Mtherbard remval will facilitate prper alignment f the ETI t the CPU lid and water blck. STEP 2.3: Put n Glves: Prir t the final degreasing step, the supplied pwder-free nitrile glves must be wrn t prevent any finger ils r cntaminants frm cntacting the CPU lid, water blck and ETI surfaces and t prevent skin cntact with Indig Xtreme Clean. Stray grease cmpund can be mitigated as glves are applied immediately fllwing the Thermal Interface Cmpund Remval step. All disclsures, ntices and warranty cnditins are being written n EKWB web page. New CPUs r water blcks must be degreased as well. Use nly the supplied Indig Xtreme Clean fr the degreasing step. Use the Xtreme Clean slvent in a well-ventilated area.

Als, avid cntact with elastmers (clant tubing, gaskets, etc.).

Hld the ETI n the blue edges (with bth hands t prevent any wrinkling r warping) D nt remve the Tp liner at this step. D nt tuch the expsed adhesive area after remval f the clear liner.

9: Tp Side Liner Remval: Remve the Tp side rectangular clear liner by slwly peeling the liner, beginning frm the crner with the white TOP label.

10: Water Blck Munting: Use the fllwing munting instructins t ensure ptimal clamping frce n the ETI: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5.

Temprarily mark each thumb nut with a marking pen r tape t indicate the starting psitin (see the black markings illustrated n the tp f each thumb nut in the image).

4 STEP 2.4: Degrease CPU lid and Water Blck Surfaces: Saturate a dry wiper clth with Indig Xtreme Clean ; use ~1/2 trial size bttle per ETI installatin; thrughly wipe the CPU lid; repeat with the water blck interfacial surfaces. Cntinue t wipe each surface with fresh areas f the wiper until n visible residue is detected n the wiper. Wipe all surfaces f any visible lint, fibers, r particulates. Be prepared t wipe the CPU lid and water blck surfaces immediately upn saturating each dry wiper clth as the Xtreme Clean slvent will quickly evaprate. New CPUs r water blcks must be degreased as well. Use nly the supplied Indig Xtreme Clean fr the degreasing step. Use the Xtreme Clean slvent in a well-ventilated area. Avid cntact with plastics (such as keybards, cmputer cases, cling fans, acetal and plexi water blck husings, clant tube fittings, cables, etc.). STEP 2.7: Bttm Side Liner Remval: Remve the Bttm side rectangular clear liner by slwly peeling the liner, beginning frm the crner with the white BOTTOM label. Hld the ETI n the blue edges (with bth hands t prevent any wrinkling r warping) D nt remve the Tp liner at this step. D nt tuch the expsed adhesive area after remval f the clear liner. Once the liner has been remved, prceed immediately t Step 2.8: Alignment and Placement. D nt tuch any f the clear surfaces after remval f the clear liner. Once the liner has been remved, prceed immediately t Step 2.10: Water Blck Munting. STEP 2.10: Water Blck Munting: Use the fllwing munting instructins t ensure ptimal clamping frce n the ETI: While hlding the water blck in a level/hrizntal psitin, place the springs nt each thumb screw. Place thumb nuts n each screw and turn just enugh t engage the threads. Temprarily mark each thumb nut with a marking pen r tape t indicate the starting psitin (see the black markings illustrated n the tp f each thumb nut in the image). Turn all thumb nuts fur (4) full revlutins, beginning with the upper left and right thumb nuts (as illustrated in the image). Prceed t Step 3: ETI Reflw Prcedure. STEP 2.5: CPU Installatin: Install the CPU in the mtherbard. Refer t mtherbard r CPU installatin instructins. The ETI can nly be applied after crrect installatin f the CPU. STEP 2.6: Indig Xtreme Handling: The Indig Xtreme ETI may be handled n the blue surfaces nly. ETI installatin requires a lint-free envirnment. D nt remve the clear Tp and Bttm liners prir t the specific installatin step. D nt bend, flex r puncture any prtin f the ETI. Keep all chemical agents (Indig Xtreme Clean, etc.) away frm the ETI. STEP 2.8: Alignment and Placement: Orientatin and alignment f the ETI t the CPU lid and scket is critical. Orient the ETI such that the Bttm side is facing the CPU lid. Refer t the figures fr crrect placement. Hld the ETI n the blue edges (with bth hands t prevent any wrinkling r warping). Ensure that the ETI is riented with CPU lid/scket as shwn. Align the square blue ring t the edge f the CPU lid befre making cntact. Carefully lwer the ETI nt the CPU lid surface. With mderate, dwnward finger pressure, cmpletely press dwn all ETI surfaces nt the CPU lid by fllwing the square blue alignment ring. It is critical that the square blue alignment ring is cmpletely n the CPU lid and all blue ring surfaces are thrughly pressed dwn. It is imperative that the water blck is aligned crrectly befre it makes cntact with the ETI. Avid any twisting n the ETI as the water blck is blted dwn. Be certain thumb nuts have been tightened nly (4) full revlutins (frm initial thread engagement); DO NOT fully tighten thumb nuts; excessive clamping frce may damage ETI, resulting in ally leakage and/r pr thermal perfrmance. th All disclsures, ntices and warranty cnditins are being written n EKWB web page. 5 STEP 3: ETI REFLOW PROCEDURE: ETI Reflw: As part f installatin, the Indig Xtreme ETI must first be heated with the CPU running under lad in rder t reflw (melt) the PCMA. The interface is highly thermally resistive withut a cmplete reflw. Failure t perfrm the exact reflw prcedure may result in unacceptable thermal perfrmance. A vide demnstratin f ETI reflw can be fund at EKWB prduct page: 1. Cnnect up all liquid lines t the water blck. 2. Orient the cmputer such that the mtherbard and CPU are in a hrizntal psitin. 3. Turn n the liquid pump. 4. Bt the cmputer. Clck frequency and vltage must be set t default (stck). 5. Use a CPU temperature mnitring prgram (such as SpeedFan ) and select the graphing ptin t track the prfile f all cre temperatures during reflw. Be certain the graph is pen with all cre temperatures selected befre prceeding t the next step. 6. With the cmputer running, turn ff the liquid pump. 7. Exercise the CPU with a burn prgram (such as Prime 95 ) t generate adequate heat fr reflw. Multi-cre CPUs require ne pen cpy f the burn prgram fr each cre. 8. Fllw the average cre temperature prfile (with SpeedFan) illustrated in the graph and crrespnding tables belw fr yur particular water blck. Full cpper/nickel water blcks will require lnger reflw times. Cre temperatures will immediately rise t peak f ~ C. Cre temperatures will quickly descend within secnds f activating burn prgrams. All cre temperatures will drp t a Bttming Pint (lwest temperature). Fllwing the Bttming Pint, average cre temperatures will slwly rise again. Once the average cre temperature has reached ~90 C, de-activate all burn prgrams. All cre temperatures will again drp t the secnd Bttming Pint. Once the lwest temperature is reached, turn n liquid pump. All burn prgrams have been activated and liquid pump has been turned ff. Cre temperatures will immediately rise t peak f ~ C. Cre temperatures will smewhat stabilize fr a few minutes and then slwly descend. All cre temperatures will drp t a Bttming Pint (lwest temperature). Fllwing the Bttming Pint, average cre temperatures will slwly rise again. Once the average cre temperature has reached ~90 C, de-activate all burn prgrams. All cre temperatures will again drp t the secnd Bttming Pint. Once the lwest temperature is reached, turn n liquid pump. Intel multi-cre prcessrs have built-in prtectin (Adaptive Thermal Mnitr) that prevents the prcessr frm exceeding maximum cre temperatures, thereby preventing any damage t the CPU. Avid any bumping r excessive pressure n the heat sink/waterblck and keep the cmputer in the hrizntal psitin until the average cre temperature has drpped belw 60 C. If the average cre temperature des nt fllw a similar temperature prfile as seen in the previus graphics, then imprper reflw may have ccurred. Prceed t Remval and re-install a new ETI. REMOVAL OF EK-TIM INDIGO XTREME: T disassemble, lsen the water blck thumb nuts. The ETI may then be remved (intact) by first slwly peeling each crner.

Any residual adhesive n the CPU r water blck may be remved with the edge f a credit card and with Xtreme Clean, acetne, r xylene n a clean wiper r cttn cleaning swab.

Indig Xtreme is a single-use interface prduct and any remval f the water blck (pre/pst-reflw) will require a new ETI.

6 REMOVAL OF EK-TIM INDIGO XTREME: T disassemble, lsen the water blck thumb nuts. The ETI may then be remved (intact) by first slwly peeling each crner. The ETI is designed t adhesively capture excess ally (frm differences f CPU lid/heat sink interfacial rughness and planarity) n their surfaces. Any residual adhesive n the CPU r water blck may be remved with the edge f a credit card and with Xtreme Clean, acetne, r xylene n a clean wiper r cttn cleaning swab. Residual ally is best remved by wetting the supplied swab with Xtreme Clean and gentling rtating the swab t lsen and cllect the ally particles. Indig Xtreme is a single-use interface prduct and any remval f the water blck (pre/pst-reflw) will require a new ETI. All interface material and adhesive residue must be remved and the CPU and water blck re-cleaned (with the surface cleaning supplies including in the ETI kit nly) prir t the re-installatin f a new ETI.
