4 Assembly Instructins NOTICE: The fllwing assembly steps are nly a general guide t assist in the assembly f yur Rad Pwer Bike and is nt a cmplete r cmprehensive manual f all aspects f assembly, maintenance and repair. We recmmend yu cnsult a bicycle repair specialist t assist in the assembly, repair and maintenance f yur bicycle. Step 1: Remve bike frm cartn and carefully set ut all cntents f the bx. Remve packaging material prtecting the bicycle frame and cmpnents. Ensure the fllwing pieces are included in the package. If there are any missing parts please cntact Rad Pwer Bikes fr help replacing missing pieces. 1. RadWagn 2. Frnt Wheel and quick release axle 3. 2x running bards 4. Center Kickstand 5. Seat and seat pst Step 2: Assemble Kickstand nt bike using prvided hardware as shwn in the assembly vide fund here: Step 3: Install the handlebars nt the stem by remving the tw blts hlding n the stem cap. Ensure the cables and wires running up t the handlebar are nt tangled r wrapped and then place the handlebar centered n the stem with the W W W. R A D P O W E R B I K E S. C O M 4

5 handlebars rtated t prvide rider cmfrt, prceed t tighten dwn the stem cap, putting equal trque n each f the stem cap blts until secured prperly. Fllw the instructins shwn in the assembly vide. Step 4: Assemble the frnt wheel nt the frnt frk if nt installed as shwn in the assembly vide at If there is damage t the frnt frk drputs making it difficult t install the frnt wheel please cntact Rad Pwer Bike immediately fr technical supprt as shipping damage culd have ccurred. Step 5: Install the pedals. Use the pedal marked with an L n the left side and the right pedal marked with an R n the right side (side with drivetrain gears). Be careful t nt crss thread the pedals. Tighten securely as shwn in the assembly vide. Step 6: Install the running bards using the prvided hardware and using the steps shwn in the assembly vide. Running bards shuld be flat nce secured, if they are sitting at an angle, lsen munting hardware and hld them in a hrizntal rientatin while tightening. Step 7: Inflate tires t desired PSI. Rad Pwer Bikes recmmends PSI fr the frnt and rear tires n the RadWagn. Step 8: Adjust the stem up and dwn t a cmfrtable height and secure all hardware in the stem assembly and seat pst. Step 9: Install frnt headlight and fender as well as the frnt frk anti-rtatin spring and cver. NOTICE: Ensure all hardware is tightened prperly and all safety checks in the fllwing sectins are perfrmed befre first use. Ntice: Ensure seat pst and seat are prperly adjusted befre riding. D nt raise the seat pst beynd the minimum insertin marking etched int the seat pst tube. If yur seat pst prjects frm the frame beynd these markings, the seat pst r frame may break, which culd cause yu t lse cntrl and fall. Prir t first use, be sure t tighten the seat clamp prperly. A lse seat clamp r seat pst binding blt can cause damage t the bicycle r can cause yu t lse cntrl r fall. Peridically check t make sure these the seat clamp is prperly tightened. Rider Cmfrt T btain maximum cmfrt, the rider shuld nt verextend his r her arms reach when riding. In rder t btain the mst cmfrtable riding psitin and ffer the best pssible pedaling efficiency, the seat height shuld be set crrectly in relatin t the rider s leg length. 7 shuld nt allw leg strain frm ver extensin, and the hips shuld nt rck frm side t side when pedaling. While sitting n the bicycle with ne pedal at its lwest pint, place the ball f yur ft n that pedal. The crrect saddle height will allw the knee t be slightly bent in this psitin. Battery Charging Basic Battery Charging Tips The battery shuld be recharged after each use. There is n memry effect s yu can charge the battery after shrt rides withut damage. The battery can be recharged n r ff the bike. Remve the battery by turning the key and then pulling the battery frward and up until the battery lifts ff f the mating receptacle. The charger will autmatically stp when the battery pack is full Always charge in dry lcatins and indrs away frm direct sunlight, dirt r debris. D nt cver up the charger when plugged in r charging, it air cls and needs t be left in a clear space. D nt charge with the charger in the inverted psitin which can inhibit cling and reduce the chargers life. Check the charger cables, charger and battery fr damage befre beginning each charge. The light n the charger will turn green when charge is cmplete and stay red while the battery charges Charging nrmally takes 3-5 hurs, hwever it can take lnger when yu first receive the bike since the battery pack is balancing. Charge in a clear area away frm ptential t trip n the charging crds, r damage t ccur t the bike, battery r charging equipment while parked. 8 1. Turn the battery pack ff using the silver illuminated pushbuttn switch n the side f the battery. The buttn shuld nt be depressed. 2. Remve the rubber cver n the charging scket. 3. With the battery n r ff the bike, place the charger in a flat, secure place, and cnnect the DC utput plug frm the charger (rund barrel cnnectr) t the charging prt n the side f the battery pack. 4. Then cnnect the input plug (110/220 vlt plug) t the pwer utlet, charging shuld initiate and will be indicated by the LED charge status light n the charger turning red. 5. After charging, unplug the charger frm the wall utlet first and prceed t remve the charger DC plug frm the bike battery scket. Always charge yur battery in temperatures between 50 and 80 degree Fahrenheit and ensure the battery and charger are nt damaged befre initiating charge. If yu ntice anything unusual while charging please discntinue charging and use f the bike and cntact Rad Pwer Bikes fr help. When the Battery Is Remved D nt tuch the + and - terminal cntacts n the bttm f the battery when the battery is remved frm the bike. Be careful nt t drp r damage the battery pack when lse frm the bike. Ensure the battery is turned ff whenever it is being remved r ff the bike. When Installing the Battery nt the Bike Ensure the battery is turned ff befre sliding the battery int the frame munt receptacle. D nt frce the battery nt the receptacle, slwly align and push battery dwn int the receptacle. Ensure the key is in the lcked psitin befre riding and check that the battery has been prperly secured t the bike befre each use by pulling upwards and testing the security f the pack. W W W. 9 Charging Time When the input and utput terminal are cnnected prperly, and the battery is nt fully charged, the red charging indicatr light shuld illuminate, shwing that the battery is charging. The time that the battery takes t fully charge the battery is dependent n varius factrs including distance traveled, riding characteristics, terrain, paylad, and battery age. The fllwing table prvides an estimate f charge time based n mst cmmn distances traveled in regular peratin: Distance Traveled Charge Time t Fully Recharge 5 miles 1 hur 10 miles 1.5 hurs 15 miles 2.5 hurs 20 miles 3.5 hurs 25 miles 4.5 hurs 30 miles 5.5 hurs Ntice: The battery pack can take lnger t charge when fully depleted and when the battery is new. As yur battery ages yu might als experience increased charging times but this is nly expected after 3-5 years f regular use. If yur battery des nt seem t be charging nrmally, and taking lnger t charge then expected, please discntinue charging and cntact Rad Pwer Bikes immediately. Charger Safety Infrmatin Keep charger in a safe place away frm children. Fully charge the battery befre each use t extend the life f the battery and help t reduce the chance f verdischarging the battery pack. D nt charge the battery with any ther chargers then what was riginally supplied with yur Rad Pwer Bike r a charger purchased directly frm Rad Pwer Bikes fr use with yur specific bike serial number, as apprved by Rad Pwer Bikes. The charger wrks n 110/220 V 50/60 Hz standard hme AC pwer utlets, d nt pen the charger t select vltage input, the charger autmatically detects and accunts fr incming vltage. W W W. 10 Avid charger cntact with liquids, dirt/debris r metal bjects. Stre the charger in a lcatin where it cannt suffer damage frm falls/impact. The charger shuld nly be used indrs in a dry ventilated space. If yu ntice a strange smell r the charger r battery are verheating, please stp charging and cntact Rad Pwer Bikes. D nt yank r pull n the cables f the charger. When unplugging carefully remve bth the AC and DC cables by way f pulling n the plastic plugs, nt pulling n the cables. Operatin Please take special care in charging f yur Rad Pwer Bike in accrdance with the abve prcedures and safety infrmatin. Failure t fllw prper charging prcedures can result in damage t yur Rad Pwer Bike, charger, persnal prperty and/r serius injury r death. Start-Up Prcedure After the bike has been prperly assembled fllwing the unbxing vide and all cmpnents are secured crrectly, yu may nw prceed t start up the vehicle and select the drive mde and pwer level. Ntice: D nt perfrm any f the steps in the Operatin sectin f this manual until yu have read this entire manual since there are imprtant details in the fllwing sectins, especially related t safety. Install the key and secure the battery pack t the frame munt, turning in the clckwise directin. Remve the key and test t see the battery cannt be remved befre prceeding. Depress the pwer buttn n the battery. The blue light shuld nw be illuminated n the buttn indicating it is turned n. 11 Select yur desired level f pedal assistance between level 1 and 5 using the up and dwn arrws n the display remte. Level 1 crrespnds t the lwest level f pedal assist (50-75 watts), and level 5 crrespnds t the highest level f pedal assist (750 watts). Either depress the red buttn n the thumb thrttle t make the thrttle active, r leave it nt depressed t perate in pedal nly mde. The thrttle is used by depressing the red buttn and then slwly and carefully applying the thrttle by rtating the half twist handlebar thrttle backwards twards the rider. Users must becme accustmed t the bikes pwer cntrl system befre perating. The thrttle mechanism allws full pwer t be activated frm a stp and inexperienced users shuld take extra care when first applying the thrttle. The pedal assistance feature is als a pwerful ptin and users shuld fully research and understand hw t perate it befre first use. Nt taking care t familiarize yurself and practice the peratin f the pwer system n yur Rad Pwer Bikes can lead t death r serius injury, please head this warning. With the prper safety gear and rider knwledge and understanding yu may nw prceed t perate yur Rad Pwer Bike. Yu can begin by pedaling the bike in the apprpriate drivetrain gear with r withut pedal assistance. Yu may als use the thrttle t accelerate and maintain yur desired speed. T turn n the headlight nce the battery/lcd display are n, hld dwn the tp and middle buttn lcated n the left side f the handlebars fr 2-3 secnds. Users must fllw the instructins and warning cntained in this manual fr their safety. D nt attempt t perate yur Rad Pwer Bike until yu have attained adequate knwledge f its cntrl and peratin. Damage caused by failing t fllw instructins is nt cvered under warranty and culd result in persnal injury t yu r thers as well as damage t prperty and/r yur Rad Pwer Bike. 12 LCD Display Features The image shws the varius features and infrmatin displayed n the wireless remte. The display is cntrlled using the 3 buttn remte munted n the left side f the handlebar. Fr mre infrmatin n the LCD display and peratin please refer t the SW-LCD manual in the Appendix. Driving Range The range f yur Rad Pwer Bike is the distance the bike will travel n a single full charge f the nbard battery pack. The range values in this manual are estimates based n expected usage characteristics. Sme f the factrs which effect range include changes in elevatin, speed, paylad, and acceleratin, number f starts and stps and ambient air temperatures. Tire pressure and terrain are als imprtant variables t cnsider. We suggest that yu ride cnservatively when yu first get yur Rad Pwer Bike t get t knw yur bike and travel rutes. Once yu becme familiar with the range requirements f yur travel rutes, and the capabilities f yur Rad Pwer Bikes yu can then adjust yu riding characteristics if yu s desire. The fllwing table prvides general estimates and utlines varius factrs effecting range and their cmbined estimated effects n range. This table is meant t help wners understand the factrs that can increase f decrease range but Rad Pwer Bikes makes n claims t the range that individual users might btain. It is recmmended that users stp perating the bike nce ne bar is left n the display. Once the battery is fully depleted, the last remaining bar will begin t flash, cmmunicating t the user that they shuld cease peratin immediately. Best Practices fr Extending Range and Battery Life Ntice: It is recmmended that users pay clse attentin and ride within the fllwing limitatins t ensure the hub mtr des nt verheat r becme damaged frm excessive lading. 14 D nt climb hills steeper than 15% in grade. Pedal t assist the mtr when climbing hills and accelerating frm a stp. Avid sudden starts and stps. When climbing hills reduce the pwer utput t 500 watts r less. This can be accmplished by pedaling with the bike while in pedal assist mdes 1 r 2. Accelerate slwly. Parking, Strage and Transprt Please fllw these basic parking, strage and transprt tips t ensure yur bike is well cared fr n and ff the rad. When pushing the vehicle manually, turn ff the pwer t avid accidental acceleratin frm the mtr. It is recmmended t park indrs. Switch the pwer ff, and any lights t cnserve battery. Remve the key frm the bike and ensure the battery is lcked t the frame r remved and brught with yu fr security. In public places, yur Rad Pwer Bike must be parked in accrdance with lcal rules and regulatins. If yu have t park utdrs in rain, r wet cnditins yu shuld nly leave yur Rad Pwer Bike utside fr a few hurs and prceed t park the bike in a dry lcatin afterwards in rder t allw all the systems t dry ut. Much like a regular bike, use in wet cnditins mandates a mre regular maintenance schedule t ensure yur bike des nt becme rusty, crrded and t ensure all systems are always wrking safely. D nt park, stre, r transprt yur Rad Pwer Bike n a rack that is nt designed fr the size and weight f the bike. Wide tires, as used n Rad Pwer Bikes, cannt fit int all bike racks, please select an apprpriate rack fr the width f tires used n yur bike. Lcking up yur bike is recmmended t ensure yur bike is secure and the chance f theft is reduced. Rad Pwer Bikes makes n claims r recmmendatins n the prper lck hardware r prcedures t secure yur bike, but we d recmmend yu take the apprpriate precautins t keep yur Rad Pwer Bike safe frm theft. 15 When string yur bike r carrying yur bike n a rack fr transprt, yu can remve the battery pack t reduce the weight f the bike and make lifting and lading easier. Regenerative Braking Regenerative braking is active n the RadWagn whenever the frnt and/r rear brake lever is applied. There is an electrnic switch in the brake lever and when it is applied, the electric hub mtr will turn int a brake. This feature recharges the battery pack when cming t a stp and travelling dwnhill. The frce f the mtr acting as a brake allws the bike t slw dwn mre rapidly cmpared t a standard bicycle; because f this yu shuld prceed with cautin and practice using this helpful feature befre traveling n public streets and dwnhill rutes. Carrying Lads and Passengers MAXIMUM PAYLOAD FOR RADWAGON The ttal maximum weight limit f the RadWagn (350 Lbs.) includes the weight f the rider as well as clthing, riding gear, carg, ther riders, etc. The kickstand is nt designed t be used fr lading carg. Yu MUST hld nt the bike whenever lading carg, especially when lading precius carg and children. 16 The use f certified and apprved child seating and equipment are required whenever carrying children. Rear wheel guards must be in place whenever carrying passengers t ensure feet and hands d nt cntact mving wheels. Ensure hands and feet are kept away frm wheels at all times the bike is in mtin. Check all regulatins in the area where yu perate the RadWagn t ensure carrying passengers, children, r carg is allwed. Fllw the stated weight limits in the sectin abve, d nt verlad the RadWagn. The RadWagn shuld never be perated by persns under the age f 18 years ld. Children incapable f riding a bike independently r under the age f fur shuld nt ride as passengers n the back f the RadWagn unless they are seated in a prperly fitted and apprved Child Safety Seat. When carrying passengers 4 years ld r abve yu must have the running bards, rear wheel side cvers and a stker handlebar. As mentined abve, children incapable f riding a children s bike shuld nt ride as passengers, use yur best judgement as a parent r guardian. Hld nt yur bicycle when lading and ensure that yur passengers are safely seated befre beginning t ride. That yu and yur passengers are wearing a prperly fitted and apprved helmet. Since passengers sit behind yu they cannt see bumps r upcming turns s instruct yur passengers t brace fr bumps and be prepared fr turns and ther maneuvers. Ensure children are remved frm the bike befre yu lk away r walk away frm the bike, therwise the bike culd tip ver and cause serius injury t yur mst precius carg. CARRYING CARGO D nt remve the clear rear wheel side cvers frm yur RadWagn. These help t keep hands and feet away frm the mving wheels. Cntact with the rear wheel can cause injury and damage t ccur. Yu must becme accustmed t the braking, steering, and peratinal adjustments required t safely perate the RadWagn with carg. Braking, acceleratin, and balancing are all significantly affected by the additin f carg laded n the RadWagn. Plan yur rute accrdingly as yur hill climbing ability, steering and braking are all impacted when carg is laded n the RadWagn. Hills that are nrmally easy t climb and descend withut carg can becme challenging and dangerus nce carg is laded. Carg shuld be laded as lw as pssible t lwer the center f gravity and imprve stability, but ensure that carg des nt interfere with any mving cmpnents r the grund. 18 Maintenance D nt use the frnt brake by itself, always apply the rear brake first fllwed by the frnt brake and be sure t use bth brakes fr all braking peratins. Frnt frk failure r lss f cntrl are plausible when the frnt brake is perated independently fr slwing at high speed with carg lads. D nt remve the clear rear wheel side cvers frm yur RadWagn. Bicycle Care T ensure safe riding cnditins yu must prperly maintain yur bike. Yu shuld fllw these basic guidelines and see yur certified lcal bike shp seasnally t ensure yur bike is safe fr use. Prperly maintain batteries by keeping them fully charged when nt in use. Never immerse the bike r any cmpnents in water as the electrical system may be damaged. Peridically check wiring and cnnectrs t ensure there is n damage and the cnnectrs are secure. T clean, wipe the frame with a damp clth saked in a mild nn-crrsive detergent mixture. Dry with a clth. Stre under shelter; avid leaving it in the rain r expsed t crrsive materials. If expsed t rain, dry yur bicycle afterwards and apply anti-rust treatment t chain and ther unpainted steel surfaces. Riding n the beach r in castal areas expses yur bicycle t salt which is very crrsive. Wash yur bicycle frequently and wipe r spray all unpainted parts with anti-rust treatment.
