4 General Inf Assembly and Fit Crrect assembly and fit are essential elements f ensuring yur bicycling safety, perfrmance and cmfrt. If yu have the experience, skill and tls t cmplete these essential steps befre yur first ride, Rad Pwer Bikes recmmends having a certified bicycle mechanic check yur wrk. NOTICE: If yu d nt have the experience, skill and tls t cmplete assembly and fit, Rad Pwer Bikes highly recmmends having a certified bicycle mechanic cmplete these prcedures as well as ensure any future adjustments r tuning. NOTICE: A critical aspect f assembling yur Rad Pwer Bike is securing the frnt wheel and checking the tightness f the rear wheel axle nuts. All Rad Pwer Bikes use a quick release frnt wheel munting mechanism and the rear wheel is blted n. Bth wheels need t be prperly secured befre perating yur bike. Mandatry Equipment and Use Lcatins Befre all rides, ensure yu have all required and recmmended safety equipment and are fllwing all laws pertaining t using an electric bicycle in yur regin. Fr example, these laws may include the need fr mandatry equipment, use f hand signals and where yu can ride. Changing Cmpnents r Attaching Accessries The use f nn-riginal cmpnents r spare parts can jepardize the safety f yur RadRver, invalidate yur warranty and in sme cases, cause yur RadRver t nt cnfrm with laws pertaining t yur bike. The replacement f riginal cmpnents r installatin f third party accessries r accessries frm Rad Pwer Bikes nt explicitly recmmended fr yur bicycle mdel, is at yur wn risk. Safety Check Befre Each Ride Always check the cnditin f yur bicycle befre yu ride in additin t having regular maintenance perfrmed. If yu are unsure f hw t cnduct a cmplete check f the cnditin f yur bicycle befre every ride, yu shuld cnsult a certified 4

Here are sme f the checks yu need t perfrm t imprve safety and prlng the life f yur bicycle: Electrical System The electrical system n yur RadRver ffers varius levels f pwer assistance and lighting fr different perating cnditins and user preferences. It is critical that yu familiarize yurself with all aspects f yur RadRvers electrical system and check t see that it is wrking crrectly befre every ride. The frnt and rear brake levers cntain safety pwer cutff switches which disable the hub mtrs assistance when applied, bth levers shuld be checked fr crrect peratin. The thrttle shuld prvide smth acceleratin when gradually applied. If the thrttle, brake lever cutff switches, pedal assistance r lighting is nt functining nrmally, intermittent, r nt wrking, please discntinue using yur RadRver immediately and cntact Rad Pwer Bike technical supprt team fr assistance. Brakes Ensure brakes are wrking crrectly, all braking system cmpnents are free frm damage and prperly secured. When yu fully squeeze the brake levers, ensure neither the frnt r rear brake levers tuch the handlebar. Take yur bike t a certified bike mechanic t have the brakes repaired if yu find a prblem. Tires and Wheels Yur wheels shuld always spin straight and must be repaired r replaced if they wbble side t side r up and dwn when spinning. If yur wheels becme untrue r spkes lsen, d nt attempt t true r tighten unless yu have adequate knwledge, tls and experience. It is recmmended that a certified bicycle mechanic perfrms all wheel tuning and truing peratins n yur Rad Pwer Bike. Ensure yur tires and inner tubes are in gd wrking cnditin withut any visual damage and have the crrect amunt f air pressure. Always replace tires and inner tubes with punctures, cuts r damage befre yu ride. Tires withut the crrect amunt f air pressure can reduce perfrmance, increase tire and cmpnent wear and make riding yur bicycle unsafe. Accessries, Straps and Hardware Ensure all hardware is secured and all apprved accessries are prperly attached per the specific cmpnent manufacturers instructins. It is gd practice t lk ver all hardware, straps and accessries befre each ride and if yu d discver smething is wrng r find smething yu are nt sure abut, please have it checked a certified bicycle mechanic. 5

6 Quick Release Levers Quick release levers are lcated thrughut the RadRver fr securing the seat pst and the frnt wheel t the bicycle. These prvide cnvenience t the user since they allw the frnt wheel t be remved, and the seat pst t be adjusted withut tls. Since quick release levers can be lsened during transprtatin, r accidentally between r during rides, it is imprtant that yu regularly check t ensure these cmpnents are prperly secured. Suspensin, Handlebar, Grips and Seat Adjustments The suspensin frk n yur RadRver will affect the handling f the bicycle s yu MUST understand hw it wrks befre use. The suspensin frk shuld be prperly adjusted fr yur weight and terrain. Check t ensure the handlebar, handlebar stem and seat pst are prperly fastened, aligned and fitted t the user. Ensure all the hardware securing the handlebars and seat are prperly tightened including all quick release levers. Lse, wrn r damaged handlebar grips shuld be replaced befre yu ride. Battery Pack Charged, Secured and Unplugged Ensure the battery is fully charged and perating prperly. The battery gauge n the LCD display and battery pack munted charge status indicatr shuld read similarly. The battery pack MUST be lcked nt the frame battery munt, prperly befre use. Ensure the battery charger is unplugged frm the battery pack and put away befre yu ride. Assembly Instructins NOTICE: The fllwing assembly steps are nly a general guide t assist in the assembly f yur Rad Pwer Bike and is nt a cmplete r cmprehensive manual f all aspects f assembly, maintenance and repair. We recmmend yu cnsult a certified bicycle mechanic t assist in the assembly, repair and maintenance f yur bicycle. Step 1: Remve bike frm cartn and carefully set ut all cntents f the bx. Remve packaging material prtecting the bicycle frame and cmpnents. Ensure the fllwing pieces are included in the package. Cmplimentary Rad Pwer Bikes hat Step 2: Install handlebar nt stem as shwn in the assembly vide fr the RadRver at Be sure t center the handlebar and ensure hardware is prperly secured. Step 3: Install frnt wheel. Fr detailed instructins please view the RadRver Assembly vide and Quick Release Installatin vide fund at Ensure frnt wheel and quick release are prperly secured befre mving n t the next step. When prperly installed, the frnt wheel shuld be fully seated in the drputs f the frnt frk, and the quick release lever shuld be fully and prperly secured as shwn in the assembly and instructinal vides. Step 4: Install the pedals. Use the pedal marked with an L n the left side and the right pedal marked with an R n the right side (side with drivetrain gears). Be careful t nt crss thread the pedals. Tighten securely as shwn in the assembly vide. 7

8 Step 5: Inflate tires t desired PSI. Recmmended pressure 20 PSI (1.379 Bar). D nt verinflate r underinflate tires. Step 6: Set desired saddle height. Secure tightly with the quick release lever at the desired height. Ensure saddle pst is nt extended beynd the minimum insertin marking near the base f the saddle pst. Step 7: Check that the battery pack is lcked t the frame f the RadRver. Step 8: Install included rear taillight nt seat pst if desired. Remve clear plastic strip frm included rear taillight. Once remved yu can depress the rubber buttn n tp f the light t turn n varius mdes. Once the bike is turned n, fllwing the prcedures utlined in the Operatin sectin f this manual, yu can turn n the headlight and LCD backlight by hlding dwn the mde and up arrws n the display cntrl pad n the left side f the handlebars. STEP 9: The frnt headlight is equipped with a light sensr which will autmatically dim the headlight when riding during day. The sensr is cvered by a switch n the back f the headlight (side facing the rider). When the small paque sensr is cvered by the switch, the headlight, when turned n, will always be full brightness, daytime and nighttime. If the sensr is expsed, the headlight, when turned n, will be dimmed during the day autmatically, and switch back t bright when it is dark ut. This is 8

9 designed t save pwer during daylight use, but the user can select either ptin based n preference. NOTICE: Ensure all hardware is tightened prperly and all safety checks in the fllwing sectins are perfrmed befre first use. 10 Adjusting the Saddle Height 1) Open the quick release skewer by swinging pen the lever utwards abut 180 degrees. 2) Yu can nw mve the saddle up and dwn by sliding the saddle pst. Set the desired saddle height. 3) After tightening the finger nut n the seat pst quick release prperly, clse the quick release lever by swinging the lever back 180 degrees until it lks like the image belw and the saddle cannt mve up, dwn r t the left r right. Befre using the bike, check that the saddle pst quick release skewer is clsed and tightened prperly. Check that it is crrectly fitted befre every ride and after every time the bike is left unsupervised, even fr a shrt time. Otherwise, the saddle pst may cme lse and result in lss f cntrl and serius injuries. Fr mst users, the saddle height shuld be set by placing the ball f yur ft n the pedal when the crank is at its lwest pint. Yur leg shuld almst be fully extended. Adjusting the Saddle Psitin and Angle T change the angle and hrizntal psitin f the saddle: 1) Und the Allen head blt underneath the saddle n the saddle clamp psitined immediately underneath the saddle, abve the rear wheel. 10

11 2) Yu can nw mve the saddle backwards r frwards in the guide and adjust the angle f the saddle. A hrizntal psitin is desirable fr mst riders. There are white limit markings n the saddle rail, which shw the minimum and maximum hrizntal mvement allwed fr this cmpnent, d nt exceed these limits. NOTICE: Ensure saddle pst and saddle are prperly adjusted befre riding. D nt raise the saddle pst beynd the minimum insertin marking etched int the saddle pst tube. If yur saddle pst prjects frm the frame beynd these markings, the saddle pst r frame may break, which culd cause yu t lse cntrl and fall. Prir t first use, be sure t tighten the saddle clamp prperly. A lse saddle clamp r saddle pst binding blt can cause damage t the bicycle r can cause yu t lse cntrl r fall. Peridically check t make sure that the saddle clamp is prperly tightened. Rider Cmfrt T btain maximum cmfrt, the rider shuld nt verextend his r her arms reach when riding. T btain the mst cmfrtable riding psitin and ffer the best pssible pedaling efficiency, the saddle height shuld be set crrectly in relatin t the rider s leg length as briefly described abve. The crrect saddle height shuld nt allw leg strain frm ver extensin, and the hips shuld nt rck frm side t side when pedaling. While sitting n the bicycle with ne pedal at its lwest pint, place the ball f yur ft n that pedal. The crrect saddle height will allw the knee t be slightly bent in this psitin. A bicycle fitting prfessinal shuld be cnsulted if yu have any questins regarding prper bike fit t avid strain n the rider. 11

12 Battery Charging Charging Prcedure Fllw these steps fr charging yur Rad Pwer Bike: 1. Turn the battery pack ff using the key switch. 2. Remve the rubber cver n the charging scket n the ppsite side f the battery switch. 3. With the battery n r ff the bike, place the charger in a flat, secure place, and cnnect the DC utput plug frm the charger (rund barrel cnnectr) t the charging prt n the side f the battery pack. 4. Then cnnect the input plug (110/220-vlt plug) t the pwer utlet, charging shuld initiate and will be indicated by the LED charge status light n the charger turning red. 5. After charging, indicated by the charging indicatr light turning green, unplug the charger frm the wall utlet first and prceed t remve the charger utput plug frm the bike charging prt. Always charge yur battery in temperatures between 10 and 26 degrees Celsius and ensure the battery and charger are nt damaged befre initiating charge. If yu ntice anything unusual while charging, please discntinue charging and use f the bike and cntact Rad Pwer Bikes fr help. 12

13 Basic Battery Charging Tips The battery shuld be recharged after each use. There is n memry effect, s yu can charge the battery after shrt rides withut damage. The battery can be recharged n r ff the bike. Remve the battery by turning the key and then pulling the battery frward and up until the battery detaches frm the mating receptacle. The charger will autmatically stp charging when the battery pack is full. Always charge in dry lcatins and indrs away frm direct sunlight, dirt r debris. D nt cver up the charger when plugged in r charging, it air cls and needs t be left in an pen space. D nt charge with the charger in the inverted psitin which can inhibit cling and reduce the charger s life. Check the charger cables, charger and battery fr damage befre beginning each charge. The light n the charger will turn green when charge is cmplete and stay red while the battery charges Charging nrmally takes 3-5 hurs, hwever it can take lnger when yu first receive the bike since the battery pack is balancing. Charge in a clear area away frm ptential t trip n the charging crds, r damage t ccur t the bike, battery r charging equipment while parked. When the Battery Is Remved D nt tuch the + and - terminal cntacts n the bttm f the battery when the battery is remved frm the bike. Be careful nt t drp r damage the battery pack when lse frm the bike. When Installing the Battery nt the Bike D nt frce the battery nt the receptacle, slwly align and push battery dwn int the receptacle. Ensure the key is in the lcked psitin befre riding and check that the battery has been prperly secured t the bike befre each use by pulling upwards and testing the security f the pack. 13

14 Charging Time When the input and utput plugs f the charger are cnnected prperly, and the battery is nt fully charged, the red charging indicatr light shuld illuminate, shwing that the battery is charging. The time that the battery takes t fully charge the battery is dependent n varius factrs including distance traveled, riding characteristics, terrain, paylad, and battery age. The fllwing table prvides an estimate f charge time based n mst cmmn distances traveled in regular peratin: Distance Traveled Charge Time t Fully Recharge 8 km 1 hur 16 km 1.5 hurs 24 km 2.5 hurs 32 km 3.5 hurs 40 km 4.5 hurs 48 km 5.5 hurs Ntice: The battery pack can take lnger t charge when fully depleted and when the battery is new. As yur battery ages yu might als experience increased charging times, but this is nly expected after 3-5 years f regular use. If yur battery des nt seem t be charging nrmally, and taking lnger t charge than expected, please discntinue charging and cntact Rad Pwer Bikes immediately. Charger Safety Infrmatin Keep charger in a safe place away frm children. Fully charge the battery befre each use t extend the life f the battery and help t reduce the chance f verdischarging the battery pack. D nt charge the battery with any ther chargers than what was riginally supplied with yur Rad Pwer Bike r a charger purchased directly frm Rad Pwer Bikes fr use with yur specific bike serial number, as apprved by Rad Pwer Bikes. The charger wrks n 110/220 V 50/60 Hz standard hme AC pwer utlets, d nt pen the charger t select vltage input, the charger autmatically detects and accunts fr incming vltage. Avid charger cntact with liquids, dirt/debris r metal bjects. 14

15 Stre the charger in a lcatin where it cannt suffer damage frm falls/impact. The charger shuld nly be used indrs in a dry ventilated area. If yu ntice a strange smell r the charger r battery are verheating, please stp charging immediately and cntact Rad Pwer Bikes. D nt yank r pull n the cables f the charger. When unplugging carefully remve bth the AC and DC cables by way f pulling n the plastic plugs, nt pulling n the cables. Operatin Please take special care in charging f yur Rad Pwer Bike in accrdance with the abve prcedures and safety infrmatin. Failure t fllw prper charging prcedures can result in damage t yur Rad Pwer Bike, charger, persnal prperty and/r serius injury r death. Start-Up Prcedure After the bike has been prperly assembled fllwing the unbxing vide and all cmpnents are secured crrectly, yu may nw prceed t start up the vehicle and select the pwer level fllwing the next steps. 1. Install the key and secure the battery pack t the frame munt, turning in the clckwise directin until yu reach the n psitin. Remve the key and test t see the battery cannt be remved befre prceeding. 2. Hld dwn the center mde buttn n the display remte fr 2 secnds then release, the display shuld turn n. 3. Select yur desired level f pedal assistance between level 0 thrugh 5 using the up and dwn arrws n the display remte. Level 1 crrespnds t the lwest level f pedal assistance, and level 5 crrespnds t the highest level f pedal assistance. Level 0 indicates pedal assistance will be inactive. 4. T turn n the headlight nce the LCD display are n, hld dwn the tp and middle buttn lcated n the left side f the handlebars fr 2-3 secnds. 5. With the prper safety gear and rider knwledge and understanding yu may nw prceed t perate yur Rad Pwer Bike. Yu can begin by pedaling the bike in the apprpriate drivetrain gear with r withut pedal assistance. Yu may als use the thrttle t accelerate and maintain yur desired speed. 15

The thrttle is used by first ensuring the black buttn that is part f the thrttle assembly is depressed, and then slwly and carefully applying the thrttle by rtating the thrttle backwards twards the rider. If the buttn n the thrttle is nt depressed, the thrttle will nt be active. D nt use the thrttle unless yu are n the bike. The black buttn n the thrttle is a latching type switch, s nce yu have it depressed, yu d nt need t hld it dwn. With the buttn depressed, the thrttle can be used whenever the bike is turned n. NOTICE: Even if yu are an experienced bicycle user, please take the time t read and implement the guidelines described in the wner s manual accmpanying yur RadRver, and the manuals included with each sub cmpnent. NOTICE: D nt perfrm any f the steps in the Operatin sectin f this manual until yu have read this entire manual since there are imprtant details in the fllwing sectins, especially related t safety. 16

17 Users must becme accustmed t the bikes pwer cntrl system befre perating. The thrttle mechanism allws full pwer t be activated frm a stp and inexperienced users shuld take extra care when first applying the thrttle. The pedal assistance feature is als a pwerful ptin and users shuld fully research and understand hw t perate it befre first use. Nt taking care t familiarize yurself and practice the peratin f the pwer system n yur Rad Pwer Bikes can lead t death r serius injury, please head this warning. Users must fllw the instructins and warnings cntained in this manual fr their safety. D nt attempt t perate yur Rad Pwer Bike until yu have attained adequate knwledge f its cntrl and peratin. Damage caused by failing t fllw instructins is nt cvered under warranty and culd result in persnal injury t yu r thers as well as damage t prperty and/r yur Rad Pwer Bike. Cntact Rad Pwer Bikes if yu have any questins abut assembly r peratin. Display Features The image shws the varius features and infrmatin displayed n the Display. The display is cntrlled using the 3-buttn remte munted n the left side f the handlebar. Driving Range The range f yur Rad Pwer Bike is the distance the bike will travel n a single full charge f the nbard battery pack. The range values in this manual are estimates based n expected usage characteristics. Sme f the factrs which effect range include changes in elevatin, speed, paylad, and acceleratin, number f starts and stps and ambient air temperatures. Tire pressure and terrain are als imprtant variables t cnsider. We suggest that yu select a lwer assistance level when yu first get yur Rad Pwer Bike t get t knw yur bike and travel rutes. Once yu becme familiar with the range requirements f yur travel rutes, and the capabilities f yur Rad Pwer Bikes yu can then adjust yu riding characteristics if yu s desire. 17

This table is meant t help wners understand the factrs that can increase f decrease range, but Rad Pwer Bikes makes n claims t the range that individual users might btain. It is recmmended that users charge the bike as sn as pssible nce ne bar is left n the display. Once the battery is fully depleted, the last remaining bar will begin t flash, cmmunicating t the user that they shuld cease peratin immediately. 18

19 Best Practices fr Extending Range and Battery Life Ntice: It is recmmended that users pay clse attentin and ride within the fllwing limitatins t ensure the hub mtr des nt verheat r becme damaged frm excessive lading. D nt climb hills steeper than 15% in grade. Pedal t assist the mtr when climbing hills and accelerating frm a stp. Avid sudden starts and stps. Accelerate slwly. Parking, Strage and Transprt Please fllw these basic parking, strage and transprt tips t ensure yur bike is well cared fr n and ff the rad. When pushing the vehicle manually, turn ff the pwer t avid accidental acceleratin frm the mtr. It is recmmended t park indrs. Switch the pwer ff, and any lights t cnserve battery. Remve the key frm the bike and ensure the battery is lcked t the frame r remved and brught with yu fr security. In public places, yur Rad Pwer Bike must be parked in accrdance with lcal rules and regulatins. If yu must park utdrs in rain, r wet cnditins yu shuld nly leave yur Rad Pwer Bike utside fr a few hurs and prceed t park the bike in a dry lcatin afterwards t allw all the systems t dry ut. Much like a regular bike, use 19

20 in wet cnditins mandates a mre regular maintenance schedule t ensure yur bike des nt becme rusty, crrded and t ensure all systems are always wrking safely. D nt park, stre, r transprt yur Rad Pwer Bike n a rack that is nt designed fr the size and weight f the bike. Wide tires, as used n Rad Pwer Bikes, cannt fit int all bike racks, please select an apprpriate rack fr the width f tires used n yur bike. Lcking up yur bike is recmmended t ensure yur bike is secure and the chance f theft is reduced. Rad Pwer Bikes makes n claims r recmmendatins n the prper lck hardware r prcedures t secure yur bike, but we d recmmend yu take the apprpriate precautins t keep yur Rad Pwer Bike safe frm theft. When string yur bike r carrying yur bike n a rack fr transprt, yu can remve the battery pack t reduce the weight f the bike and make lifting and lading easier. Carrying Lads MAXIMUM PAYLOAD FOR RADROVER The ttal maximum weight limit f the RadRver (125 Kilgrams) includes the weight f the rider as well as clthing, riding gear, carg, etc. The kickstand is nt designed t be used fr lading carg.
