The Tigers played Colcord High School for the District Championship last Friday night. We came out on top 28-7, crowning us champs and making our first two playoff games at home. This week, we will play the Quapaw Wildcats on Thursday, the first of November at home! GO TIGERS! District Champions Baby! -Jon Parker Morgan

8 Tiger Speech Classic 2012 The 5th Annual Tiger Speech Classic took place on Oct. 26, There were seven schools present which included the following: Duke, Haskell, Mounds, Foyil, Verdigris, Prague, and Keys. In the novice division, Mounds received first place, and Duke received second place. In 3A division, Duke received third place, Foyil received second place, and Haskell received first place. In 4A division, Prague received third place, Verdigris received second place, and Keys received first place. Many former alumni judged which included Juan Zuniga, Stevan Jameson, Jesse Black, and T. J. Arnold. Many Commerce teachers, staff, and parents helped to make the tournament successful by judging and hosting the hospitality room and concession stand. Sheila Botts did a suberb job of creating the menu and getting food ready for the hospitality room. Many people who have attended the tournament in the past were looking forward fondly to the hospitality room. The tournament was successful because every school placed, and everyone worked together to create a conducive environment for success. Personally, I want to thank all the schools for attending. My colleagues from the other schools worked tirelessly to make everything work. I am so proud of my speech students who worked so hard, and they never said no when I asked something of them. The speech students included the following: Jade Rankins, Megan Walker, Andrew Medlin, Jasmine Smith, and Rylee Kurtz. Also, I want to thank our local FCCLA chapter advisor, Ms. Bolles, and her student volunteer, Kassie Downs for working in the hospitality room. Finally, I wanted to thank Welch State Bank for sponsoring the first place trophies and Papa G's and Family Dental Associates in Miami for sponsoring the second place trophies. The third place trophies were sponsored by Mr. McKibben in memory of his nephew, Brandon Wayne McKibben. I want to thank the teachers for letting me use your rooms, and I want to thank the maintenance for doing a great job getting the buildings and the gym ready for the tournament. Everyone did a great job putting our best foot forward. by Floyd McKibben CHS Football Homecoming 2012 On October 5th we had football homecoming.
