2 Message from Mr. Pagano Production Team Director: Ms. C. McCourt Good evening, ladies and gentlemen: Despite, or rather because of a world that continues to be fraught with difficulties beyond our control, the importance of being transported to another universe becomes more and more precious to us. The first part of this involves young people who every year lead me to marvel at their confidence, art, and self control. I always found speaking (or acting) in public an extremely difficult task. Tonight I know I will be looking at a stage where our young people not only demonstrate the fearlessness and maturity involved in putting oneself front and centre, but also do it with the craft and class that belies their years. we will be transported to a world, again, where young people are the ones in control, and we will relish the opportunity, I'm, sure. The second part of that transportation of transformation tonight involves the actual subject matter. What better musical, what better medium than "Aladdin" to bring us to a world where magic makes all good things possible? I would like to thank all the actors tonight for their time, talent and dedication. None of this would be possible without the efforts of Christina McCourt, Erica Cooke, Agnes Cho, Michele Aitken, Jeff Fong, Chris Dunn, Brianne Cooper, Tamara Reay, Matthew David, Sue Lyons, Nicole Bryant, Esther Lee, Mishka Sawka, Wendy Molnar, Katarina Mylvaganam, and Rachael Lee...A big thanks also to members of the audience for supporting such an important endeavour. Enjoy. The Band: Mara Bowman (tenor sax), Jack Feng (alto sax), Pam Fong (alto sax), Jeff Fong (trumpet), Andrew Northey (electric bass), Abhishek Chandaria (percussion), Laura Chu (percussion) Backstage: Sean McNamara, Sifana Jalal, Kristina Tzortzis, Georgia Gardner, Sarah Douey, Kelly Chu, Amal Ismail-Ladak Hair and Make-up: Maddie Elman, Nesli Inan, Jess Weinberg, Sifana Jalal, Sam Gardner, Ms. E. 3 Director s Notes Hands down, Aladdin has got to be one of my favourite musicals from my childhood. It has everything; a far away mysterious place, enchanting characters, romance, villainous plots, magic and bright, catchy songs! Every year when deciding what production to put on, we try and challenge ourselves in new and creative ways. Taking on Shakespeare, working with technology and a green screen and making a witch melt before your eyes are just a few of the ways that we, at Crestwood, try and top ourselves with each production; this year, in deciding to tackle Disney s Aladdin Jr., the challenge was music! With the additional help of Mr. Jeff Fong and his Cave of Wonders band and our Maestro Mr. Josh Priess, the cast has made Agrabah come alive with music you can t help but dance along to. Beyond the music, there are so many people involved to put a production like this together, please take a moment to go through the program and take note of everyone who put so much time and effort into the making of this performance. The cast and crew had a wonderful time putting on this production for you and hope that you have just as great a time watching it tonight! Thank you to everyone involved in making this play as wondrous and magical as the Genie herself and especially to all of you whose unwavering support make nights like this possible! Sincerely, Ms. Christina McCourt
