Welcome to the Barony Youth Theatre s Autumn production which involves the play Drama Geeks Vs Zombie Cheerleaders by Kathryn Walat and our showcase of individual pieces chosen by the members.

I would like to thank Sandra, Wendy and the Barony Players Committee for their ongoing involvement and support, to Calum for all his help and to Jamie for his fantastic poster and programme design.

2 Welcome to the Barony Youth Theatre s Autumn production which involves the play Drama Geeks Vs Zombie Cheerleaders by Kathryn Walat and our showcase of individual pieces chosen by the members. We have covered a range of performing skills and techniques over the past few months which has culminated in huge developments in the children s confidence on and off stage. I would like to thank Sandra, Wendy and the Barony Players Committee for their ongoing involvement and support, to Calum for all his help and to Jamie for his fantastic poster and programme design. Finally, thank you to members and parents for your dedication and enthusiasm this year and in the future. We hope you all enjoy the hard work we have put into this production. Amy Grieve, Director Welcome to the Barony Youth Theatre 2018 Production. The BYTers have chosen to perform Drama Geeks and Zombie Cheerleaders by Kathryn Walat - can a ragtag band of overdramatic misfits defeat the zombies -- and save the world -- before it's too late? They will follow this with a Showcase of pieces they have worked on individually and in small groups. The BYTers are going from strength to strength and it s great to see new faces joining us along the way. The BYTers took part in our Community Consultation earlier in the year and it was lovely to hear them talk so affectionately about the theatre. 3 The Drama Club notices that their biggest rivals, the Cheerleaders, are acting unusual. They're beginning to smell, and they seem to have an odd taste for human flesh... yup, they've turned into zombies! With the big Homecoming game approaching, Head Zombie- Cheerleader Peaches organises her undead followers to plan a feast on the rest of the school. It's up to the Drama Geeks to use their gift for dramatic flair to slay their rivals. Can a ragtag band of over-dramatic misfits defeat the zombies -- and save the world -- before it's too late? A selection of dramatic pieces chosen by the performers themselves from various genres to showcase their strongest talents, learning and interests. 4 Cast Chloe Minal Peaches Chloe enjoys her character in the play as she is sassy, bossy and undead! The character also doesn t deal with negative criticism well which is fun for acting because it is an escape. Chloe has been a member of BYT for about 4 years and her most memorable role was Malvolio in Twelfth Night in Shakespeare. The rehearsal process in this first show was challenging and memorable as well. Chloe feels she has learned a lot and made friends at The Barony. Lisa Bain Savannah Lisa plays the typical blonde popular girl in school which has been a challenge. This is Lisa s second show at Barony after 16 Plays in 10 Minutes and this one is more enjoyable because she has felt she has had more time to prepare. For the Showcase Lisa is performing a scene from Anne Frank and her brother was previously in that past Barony production. Lisa also enjoys Gymnastics and participates in Captivate Theatre and her favourite show Bugsy Malone when she played Doodle. Lisa has also been LAMP Children s Theatre for 6 years and taken part in several shows. Sydney Black Abby Sydney is 10 years old and plays one of the Cheerleaders who is a bit sassy (which is not difficult for her to play as she used to be a cheerleader!). She is very happy to have been picked for this role. There are quite a few lines and

5 has been her biggest role to date. Sydney has made new friends in the year she has been at BYT and also attended the Summer School. Outwith Barony Sydney also enjoys ice skating, gymnastics and swimming and goes to youth club and has a cat Rocky who inspires her! She wishes a Break a leg to everyone. James Bradley Blair James is 13 years old and plays a male cheerleader which is an interesting and different role as it has been a challenge to create a new character. It is James first year at the Barony and it has been really fun overall with some challenges as well. James is also a member of LAMP Children s Theatre and he has performed in Les Misérables. James likes to write and devise plays and drama and is in a playwrighting group at school and is currently writing a short play. Caileigh Gordon Casey Caileigh is 9 years old and attends Linlithgow Bridge Primary School. This is her first show with Barony Youth Theatre and she finds it fun and fascinating to do and enjoys it because it is different to musical theatre at LAMP Children s Theatre where she is also a member and recently performed in Les Misérables. Caileigh is also in the choir the Linlithgow Linties and enjoys singing. Caileigh attended the Barony Summer School this year also where she made new friends and learned something different.

6 Isla Davidson Darcy Isla is 10 years old and attends Bo ness Public Primary School. She enjoys reading, creative writing, dancing and taking part in art and drama workshops. Isla loves the Harry Potter novels and movies and feels totally inspired by JK Rowling s work. Most recently Isla has become interested in the Dr Who TV series and was excited to see the first female Dr (Jodie Whittaker) take to the screen at the beginning of October. Isla loves the theatre and is keen to develop her skills in drama. She is a new member to the Barony Youth Theatre and is delighted to take part in her first ever role in their production and is looking forward to having her first performing experience. Isla wishes all cast and group members the very best of luck for an amazing, entertaining and brilliant show. Emily Bristow Emma Emily enjoys working on productions with her friends and would like to look into getting involved behind the scenes within theatre. She loves costume productions and would be interested in learning more at a later date. Rory Cascie Mikey Rory is 13 and has been a member of BYT since February and also attended the Barony Summer School in which he played a ventriloquist dummy and this role in this current is his favourite to date because everyone loves him. Rory has also done

7 recent auditions for The Christmas show in Linlithgow Academy. He hopes he enjoy the show. Annie Knox Carson Annie is playing the head of Drama Geeks who is confident and passionate for drama not dissimilar to herself. This is her first Barony show and she likes straight acting and it is a nice change from doing musicals. Annie has also been a member of Wee Tree Youth Theatre, LAMP and Captivate and one of her favourite musicals is 13. Annie also plays the cello, piano and enjoys singing and hockey. Abby Robertson Tessa Abby plays the role of Tessa who is a Drama Geek. Abby has been coming to Barony for the last 4 years and her favourite play so far has been Twelfth Night. Abby has also taken part in her school show for the last two years which was really good fun. Emily Baird Jesse This is the first show that Emily has ever done and she is very excited to take on the role of Jesse. Acting has always been something she enjoys and she is glad she has found it at the Barony Theatre. Emily has been with Barony Youth Theatre for about 6 weeks and she has really enjoyed her time with all the staff and other actors.

8 Megan Hughes Shelby Megan is nearly 11 years old and is in P7 at Bo ness Public Primary School. As an animal lover, Megan enjoys spending lots of time with her two (very lively) Golden Retrievers Harris and Clyde. Megan hasn t performed at all before and is excited about taking to the stage for the first time with the Barony Youth Theatre. Rhia Griffiths Piper This is Rhia s second year at the Barony and her favourite show was in Sixteen in 10 Minutes because it was funny and a bit crazy. In the showcase Rory and Rhia are performing together in a funeral scene with an interesting plot! Rhia is also at a swimming club and youth club. Hope Aitken Meg Hope has been a member of the Barony Youth Theatre for 4 years. Viral Tweet was the first show she took part in and playing Sir Andrew in Twelfth Night was a favourite role. Hope is also doing the comedy sketch Knights of Ni with James, Chloe, Annie and Abbie in the showcase. Lewis Stokes Skye Lewis has been involved in BYT for years and is looking forward to taking part in this current production. He wishes all his friends and fellow actors good luck.
