1 Tree County Players The Prompter Published quarterly T. Zins -editor Office Address: 327 S. Monfort St. Greensburg, IN Mailing Address: PO Box 423 Greensburg, IN Web Site: tcpgreensburg.com E Mail: treecountyplayers@gmail.com Facebook: Tree County Players The Prompter July 2016 Volume 4 Number 3 A WORD FROM OUR PRESIDENT What a wonderful, busy, and productive year we have had at TCP. The past three months alone have been a whirlwind! We have made it a goal to try and put something out for the public at least once a month, and I believe we came very close to doing that this year. Our Small Room Series has turned into something big! Thanks to the grants from the Decatur County Community Fund, we have been able to transform our small building into a performance space. This has allowed us to really stretch creatively (not to mention monetarily) with the ability to perform more works that we otherwise would not have been able to perform. The future of TCP is looking promising with the amazing talent that graced the stage during SEUSSICAL JR.! I truly hope everyone had the opportunity to see the show. What a gift these young thespians gave to this community. The stage was shared by veterans and novices alike who came together and put on a very wellstaged production. What many people do not know is just how junior this show was. From the make-up to the lights and sound, almost the entire show was student-run! We love to get kids involved in all aspects of a production, not just being on the stage. All of the kids took their jobs seriously, and it showed. Thanks to Megan Gehrich for her guidance and leadership of these kids! Our theater camp is also wrapping up this week. Thanks to Nancy Porter for proposing and running this opportunity for kids to dig deeper into their love of theater! We look forward to seeing where these kids will take TCP in the coming years! This will be my last note, as this coming August I will be finishing my term on the board. I have proudly served on the board for the past 5 years. There are no words to express my pride at how far this organization has come in such a short time. We have a great vision and plan laid out. It can be tempting to jump into new projects but forethought is extremely important when it comes to making lasting changes that will be impactful not only to the organization but also to the community in which we are a part. I look forward to seeing the plan continue to unfold and the amazing things that will soon be unveiled! I plan to stay involved, but for now it is time for others to become part of the leadership in this organization. I am deeply appreciative of the opportunities TCP gives to this community and hope that in time many more people will take advantage of being a part of this organization. TCP thanks you for your continued support!! Catch up with us on social media. You can find us on Facebook (Tree County Players), Twitter (@tcp_greensburg), and Instagram (treecountyplayers). Our website is Sincerely, Amy Borns 1

4 OH the THINKS YOU CAN THINK! OUR YOUTH SUMMER MUSICAL Greensburg Junior High was the site for TCP s youth summer musical, SEUSSICAL JR. (June 16, 17 and 18). Under the leadership of Megan Gehrich (director), Ashley Snapp (assistant director/choreographer) and Amy Borns (producer), thirty-five talented young performers, ages six to eighteen, lovingly brought to life many favorite Dr. Seuss characters. The lively, colorful show transported audiences from the Jungle of Nool, to the Circus McGurkus and to the invisible world of the Whos. According to director Megan Gehrich, the show was a fun evening of rhyming songs and crazy dancing but it also provided an opportunity to learn some valuable life lessons about bullying and caring for others. The entire cast of Seuss characters! Jessa Wagner (Young Kangaroo), Mikaela Fangman (Sour Kangaroo) and Kenlee Martin (Bird Girl) Krista Woodhull as Gertrude McFuzz sings a love song for Horton. Justin Bates as the Cat in the Hat 4

6 Tenderloin Throwdown June 25, 2016 Tenderloin enthusiasts were treated to some live theater during the Greensburg Tenderloin Throwdown. TCP staged two performances of a short skit telling the real story of the three little pigs. The story was narrated by Keelyn Ingmire and Cathy Lincourt. Tristan Ingmire played the Big Bad Wolf and the three pigs were Brian Glaub, Nick Gehrich and Brian Ingmire. The cast gave the audience a lot of laughs and had a great time rehearsing. TCP thanks Wendy Blake and Mainstreet Greensburg for inviting us to be part of the festivities. Tristan Ingmire can t stay in character when he see Nick Gehrich die. The house of straw built by Abby Jones. The wolf (Tristan Ingmire) tells his tale. The pigs do a little jig (Brian Glaub, Nick Gehrich, Brian Ingmire) for the crowd. 6

7 TCP held its first Summer theater camp June 27 July 1. Nancy Porter designed the program and enlisted help from other TCP members. Monday focused on the body and voice and featured vocal warm-ups by Cathy Lincourt. Tuesday s agenda included tips for line memorization and character development (with help from Amy Borns and Keelyn and Brian Ingmire). Wednesday s focus was stage make-up with guest presenter, Nick Gehrich. Thursday and Friday were devoted to rehearsing skits which were presented to an audience Friday evening. The campers received T-shirts and, of course, snacks. A touring young person s theatrical group was also discussed. Scene from Friday s performance. Nancy Porter and the campers. 8 TCP loves donations, but cannot always use additional furniture, props, sets and costume donations. Members have spent many hours cleaning the building and clearing out excess materials. Before you drop off a donation, please contact a board member and check if we can use the item. We appreciate your generosity, but we need to keep the building and rehearsal space open. Thanks! TCP is happy to announce that we now accept major credit and debit cards for tickets, T-shirts, meals and other TCP-related purchases. For now, credit card payments cannot be made via our web site. Watch for more developments in the following year. Thanks to our retiring Board Members, Amy Borns, Cole Lienhoop and Therese Zins. We appreciate your leadership and commitment to TCP. Have you been thinking about getting more involved in Tree County Players? Always wanted to be on stage? Thinking about directing? Dreamed about making fantastic costumes or building an awesome set? Maybe our season is the perfect time to discover your hidden talents. Everyone has them. TCP is an all-volunteer organization, and we couldn t produce all the wonderful things we do without our volunteers. Contact a board member or come to a board meeting (they are open to all), and we ll help you find a way to share your talents. Get involved in the fun! 8
