1 Newsle er 11th September 2017 Term 3, Week 9 Good afternoon Parents, Guardians and Students, I would like to take the time to acknowledge our wonderful staff. As well as the parents who have willingly taken on board the sewing and making of costumes for the upcoming concert, Esther. Many people are working diligently after hours and over the weekends creating and making the necessary items for the play. In todays newsletter you will see an advertisement which includes all the information for the upcoming event. If you would like a flyer to pass onto friends they are available at the office. This coming Friday seven Year 10 students, Pr Gerrard and myself will be joining 26 other students from Gilson College and heading off to Myanmar for 2 weeks. I would like to take the opportunity to thank you all for supporting the fundraising events this year. Our Year 10 students and those where we are going have been blessed by your generosity. Henderson College will add $2,000 to the donations of Gilson College. The money donated by Henderson will support three additional teachers for a year. I hope you have a great week and upcoming holiday with your child/ren. Safe holidays. Sandra Ferry, Principal. Yr 6 Maths Olympics Recently 50 students from 6 different Adven st schools worked in teams as part of the annual Year 6 Maths Olympics held in Melbourne at Gilson College. Teams worked together to complete a range of maths ac vi es to challenge their accuracy, speed and problem solving skills. Henderson sent 4 students along with Miss Holman for a very early start at the airport, and we were so proud of the fact that we had a student in each winning team - a gold medal winner, silver medal winner and bronze medal winner! Krystelle Holman, Yr 6 teacher.

4 Parent Survey Dear Parent/Guardian, A number of parents have already responded to our survey and we would appreciate and encourage you to complete the survey with your feedback. The survey will close in just a few days! Please take a few minutes to provide us with your view on our school. As part of our ongoing commitment to con nuously improve our school, we believe it is cri cal to seek each parent s feedback and perceived sa sfac on. Your feedback is very important and will assist us as we respond to issues and con nue to build a school that is a leading provider of excellent academic, co-curricular, and Chris an educa on. As such, we have engaged the professional services of Vividus Marke ng to undertake an independent, strictly private, and confiden al sa sfac on survey on our behalf. 5 A Message From Our Student Welfare Officer Lately I have been thinking about me and how it goes so fast. The weeks fly by and before you know it, it is the end of the term! Life is so busy for all of us and it s really just a whirlwind of school drop offs, a er school ac vi es, cooking dinners, washing, folding and the list goes on. It feels as if almost overnight my family has changed from having four young children running around playing to having three almost adults that tower over me. I knew it would go fast but it has flown, and at mes I feel as though it is going too quickly and I want to slow it down. I find myself coun ng the years un l they will possibly want to leave home and a panic comes over me. We have these amazing children that complete our lives for such a short period of me and then we have to let them go. I guess the beauty of it all is that we get the chance to have a huge impact on our children s lives and we can help mould and shape some pre y amazing human beings. It is such a privilege to have our children for the me that we do and to watch them grow. I read an ar cle last week en tled Just Like That by Allison Slater Tate which is a beau fully wri en piece about how quickly our children go from ny helpless li le people into teenagers. It is a great read, if you would like to have a look the link is below. h p:// Venise Lang.
