4 Canada has ten provinces and three territories. Despite being a huge country, Canada has the fourth lowest population density in the world, with only three people living per square kilometre! Almost half of the population in Canada were born in other countries. Three of Canada s islands make the top ten for size in the world Baffin, Ellesmere and Victoria. 15.9% of the population is 65 or older. 68.5% are between the ages of 15 and 64. The median age is 41 years. The average life expectancy at birth is years the sixth highest in the world. In Flander s Fields is a poem written by World War I Col. John McCrae, a Canadian veteran of the Second Boer War. He was struck with admiration at the courage of the dead when he saw red poppies swaying among the markers of his fallen comrades. The National Flag of Canada came into being in 1965 to replace the Union Jack. It is an 11 pointed red maple leaf on a white square. 9 Mat s Message of the Week Well the heat is finally here so the pool is open, just a reminder that toddlers & babies are to wear swimmers when in the pool, swimmers are available in the office store. I ask all members of the park that when dealing with the staff, please do so in a pleasurable manner, as conversations can be misinterpreted by staff or by yourselves. If there is a concern, there is a procedure in place by filling out a suggestion/ concern form and placing it in a sealed envelope if it is concerning staff. All other concerns can be put in the box outside the laundry room door. The big bin will be here again for the long weekend please put all garbage into the bin. Please fold all boxes before putting into the cardboard bin. Water coolers & dehumidifiers contain freon so they have a cost of $35 each when you dispose of them in our garbage, so please visit the office & pay. Wagon ride will be on Saturday & Sunday this long weekend starting at 4pm with a special ride on Saturday for the Canada Day Parade at 11:00am so please meet me in the parking lot in front of the Rec Hall. SPEEDING is always an issue please slow down as the park is very busy this time of year & all motorized vehicles are to follow all signs (one way, stop, speed etc.). Golf cart/atv owners please get your stickers from the office & just a reminder to let the office know of all completed building permits. This week we have been busy putting new sand at the Volleyball court, plus the Tennis court has been finished so the Tournament can be played. More security cameras have been installed at the mini golf course & in the Rec Hall so we have eyes everywhere. Also if you require work to be done by park staff, please go to the office and fill in a work request. We get busy and verbal requests at times get forgotten. Enjoy your weekend here at Wildwood Mat Zettler, Park Manager ENJOY EVERYDAY 9 of 11 DANCE YOUR FEET SILLY
