1 S H D : Twentyone members and guests enjoyed the Hungry Horse s large selection of ample meals (from chili con carne to salad) before VP Bubba Peel called us to order. [ Inclan was vacationing out of the country.] VP Peel had Chaplain Bill Mayo ask God s blessing on our meal and meeting and then led the group in Pledging Allegiance to our nation s flag. B M : August 15 th Dinner Meeting Introductions: Life member, Noble Al Gray and his daughter Margaret. Noble Steve Fisk s mother, Barbara Minutes: The July meeting minutes were approved as published in the August newsletter. Claims & Accounts: Fraternal deposits included 50/50 raffle income, and a member donation. One check for $750 was written to Alzafar to reserve a tenseat table for the coming Hospital Gala. Members and guests attending are to reimburse the Club. Fraternal (Jul 19 th Aug 15 th ) Beginning Bal $5, Payments $ Deposits $85.00 Ending Balance $4, Noble Bob Easterling moved, Noble Paul Lemon seconded, and the members approved the Treasurer s report subject to audit. Correspondence: N/A Sickness & Distress: It was good to see Noble Al Gray at our meeting. We thank his daughter, Margaret for bringing our oldest life member for a great visit. Noble Gray has been pretty much house bound. Past Potentate Gary Radvansky continues his surprise battle with leukemia. After intense chemo and radiation therapy, his last test showed him to be 100% free of cancer cells. While he will be discharged in a week or so, he will have to continue chemo for life. Let s continue our prayers for his full recovery. O B : S C The search continues for new fez collection containers. VP Peel reported having the plastic fezzes locally fabricated was cost prohibitive. Shrine Full Form Ceremonial Two of our members, Nobles Steve Fisk and Matt Hite participated in the full form. Photos of them and their wives indicate that they enjoyed the party. It ll be on Saturday, September 1 st and we ll need help setting up, prepping, serving, cleaning up, etc. [Because of expected hot weather & the setup involved, this & future Tailgates will be at Kendall Masonic Lodge on East Blanco Rd. It s both easier and more comfortable.] VP Peel said that he would be calling a meeting to finalize tailgate plans. Birthdays & Anniversaries: Noble Bill and Lady Donna Marie Carder both celebrate August birthdays Noble Al Gray celebrated his 88 th last month. Noble Ralph Lawless will celebrate his 88 th birthday on August 28 th Noble Bubba Peel also celebrates in August VP Peel let the group in singing Happy Birthday. It was noted that three of the members present, Nobles Al Gray, Ralph Lawless, and Bill Mayo, were all in their 88 th year! Door & Raffle Prizes: Katlyn Peel and Margaret Gray won the door prizes. 5 THE BOERNE SHRINE CLUB Page 5 s Corner 2018 Club Officers Nobles Inclan, Kestler, Mayo, & Peel Miguel Inclan Primary Business Address: PO Box 177 Boerne, TX Nobles and Sweethearts, We will have a busy weekend as we celebrate the Kendall County Fair and the season closing of Camp Alzafar. Our parade will be just like the Berges Fest Parade with a lineup at Frederick and Main. Kickoff is scheduled for 10am. There has been a change to our tailgate plans, it will now be hosted at Kendall Masonic Lodge. This change was made due to several factors including weather, ease of labor and maintenance work to be done before and after the event, and the location of the event. We are sorry to see the Ag Center go but we have to make plans for future tailgates at the Lodge. My thanks go out to Kendall Masonic Lodge for allowing us to host this wonderful event. Also, Camp Alzafar will host their closing party after the parade starting at 3pm with many events including a cornhole tournament, fish fry, Potentate s Happy Hour, and a live band to close the night out. We hope you join us there that evening. Have a great Labor Day weekend and I look forward to seeing you at our next meeting.
