Japanese Day today, then the Trivia Night on Saturday. Next week, we are looking forward to the Middle School Let s Go to the Movies premiere, which is replacing the Middle School production this year, with students developing the same skills, but with the added media training thrown in!! after a busy last week of interviews and more, we break up for the term holidays at 2:30 pm no Friday 26 June. Don t forget that term 2 starts Tuesday July 14, after the Curriculum Day on Monday 13 July! JAPANESE DAY The excitement has been building for some time! Tanya Barlow has done a great job in organising the day, with Japanese activities and visitors here all day today. It was very touching to receive a video from our sister school Lily Vale PS in Japan, recognising the celebratory nature of the day. There will be lots more photos to come!!
2 2 SELF-REGULATION IS VITAL TO YOUR CHILD S SUCCESS MAGGIE DENT Maggie Dent is a passionate advocate for the healthy common sense raising of children in order to strengthen families and communities Please see article below written by Maggie Dent on Self-Regulation. The main issue that I see in kids today is their lack of ability to self-regulate. There is many ways to teach children these skills. There are three great apps that I like; 1. The Zones of Regulation 2. Positive Penquins 3. Mood Meter (for older kids). Mia Sartori Student Welfare Officer
3 3 Sports News The Division Cross Country was conducted last Tuesday at the Yarra Valley Race Course. The course was well prepared for horse racing, with long green grass, however with the overnight rain there was underlying mud and water making traversing for the runners very difficult. Seven of our students ran with four continuing on to the Region event next Tuesday, the next level of competition. Well done to Kenna, Natasha and Olivia on very competitive runs and to Cooper, Sophie, Rhys and Emily who all progress. I met Rhys at the 1200 m mark and monitored him over the last 800 m of his run. He was quite spent at the 1200 but the sheer determination and courage that he displayed was remarkable. He pushed on and on and on finally finishing the last 100 m to the applause and understanding from the crowd of what he had achieved. An excellent example of someone doing their absolute best. I still have 2 free tickets to the AFL game between Carlton and Port Adelaide on 20 June at the MCG. The tickets give entry to adults and/or children.
