Battling windy conditions for the second straight day, Lilia Vu and UCLA extended their individual and team leads through Tuesday s second round of the 2017 Pac-12 Conference Women s Golf Championships hosted by the University of Arizona at. Vu carded the best round of the tournament so far with a 6-under-par 66 to pace UCLA to the top team score of Tuesday at 3-under 285. The Bruins ( ) increased their advantage by a shot and will take a seven-shot cushion over second place Colorado ( ) into Wednesday s 18-hole finale. UCLA will be in search of its sixth Pac-12 title all-time, including its first since winning three in a row from Vu entered Tuesday as co-leader along with teammate Bethany Wu, but moved four shots clear of Wu with her sterling 66, which was just one shot off the Pac-12 Championship single-round record and her seventh under-par round in her last eight outings. "I think I did really well today, I made all the right decisions, I put my driver away, I pulled out my 2- hybrid a lot to give myself full shots because when the wind is howling this hard you need full shots into the green so you can stop the ball, said Vu. I played conservative and gave myself birdie chances most holes." Despite a second consecutive day of consistent winds featuring upwards of 30 mph gusts, scoring improved on Tuesday. Team scores averaged on Tuesday compared to on Monday. "Knowing the conditions today, if you had told me we were going to shoot under par I would have been like 'Oh, that'd be awesome!' said UCLA Coach Carrie Forsyth. Anything under par out here in conditions like this is going to move you up so I'm really pleased with it." Forsyth offered how she ll address her team as the Bruins have sights on their first league crown in over a decade: "We're going to talk a little about strategy and dealing with those [course condition] challenges, and strategy in also just dealing with your emotions. When you're in contention and you really want it, just how to put some of that stuff away and go play." Wu is in solo second place at 3-under 141 after shooting under-par for the second straight day with a 2- under 70. STANFORD s Andrea Lee also fired a 2-under 70 and is one shot behind Wu in third place at 2-under 142. The Cardinal sit in third place as a team at 18-over 594 ( ).

2 COLORADO was the only other team to shoot under par on Tuesday with a 2-under 286. CU s Kirsty Hodgkins (144, E) climbed to fourth on the individual leaderboard with a 2-under 70, while teammate Esther Lee (147, +3) jumped a dozen spots into the top 10 with a 1-under 71. ARIZONA s Haley Moore (147, +3) carded a 3-under 69, joining Vu as the only players with rounds in the 60s this week, to move into the top 10. Final round play begins off both the 1st and 10th tees beginning at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, with calmer winds expected for the 18-hole finale.
