2 Dear Residents, Hello and happy summer. The summer programming at Purvis Park is designed to enhance your enjoyment of the facilities. Some of the program offerings have been adjusted this year to better meet your needs. The tennis lessons will be offered in two 5 week sessions. Following the conclusion of the second session, the construction of four new tennis courts will take place. We look forward to using them soon! The swim lessons have been re-structured, with new days added. There are two 4 week sessions offered during the week, on Mondays & Wednesdays or Tuesdays & Thursdays. New this summer, we are offering an 8 week Saturdays-only session of swim lessons. We will also offer single-sex swim lessons during the Sunday evening Women-only swim and the Monday evening Men-only swim. The City has teamed up again with the CH-UH Library to offer two days of childoriented events at the park. The Touch a Truck event focuses on trucks and vehicles driven by the safety forces. The Super Hero Training Camp teaches special skills to our budding super heroes. The ever-popular Arts & Crafts program at the Pavilion continues on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons. All of these activities are free and are intended to stretch the imaginations of our young residents. The Thursday evening band concerts will be held on the Hamlin Quadrangle at John Carroll University. The concert schedule includes perennial favorites along with new bands. The concerts begin at 7 p.m. and end about 8:30 p.m. Following the conclusion of your musical evening on the Quad, you can continue your night of music at the restaurant patios on John Carroll Boulevard. The restaurants sponsor a free jazz concert series on Thursday evenings throughout the summer. The planning continues for our new city park on Fenwick Road. Architects, landscape architects, engineers, city staff, and residents are fine-tuning the park concept plan with the goal of creating a wonderful new city asset. The construction timeframe is expected to last 12 months and the new park is expected to open for full use in summer, 2016! See you at the pool! Regards, Susan Infeld Mayor

5 SWIM TEAM-PURVIS PARK PIRANHAS Season June 15 thru July 26 (excludes July 4) Residents Only: $30.00 per person/season Separate checks for fee and uniform order Registration: May 27-28, 6:30-8:00pm; June 6, Noon-1:00pm at pool Girls & Boys Age Groups = 8 & under; 9-10; 11-12; 13-14; Practice Times Dates 11:45am - 12:45pm M-F 5:30pm - 6:30pm T-F No Saturday Practice (Attendance at 5 practices encouraged) Requirements: Swimmers assessed first week of practice; must be able to swim one length of pool (25m) without stopping and fully participate in at least 40 minutes of practice; swimmers unable to meet requirements will be directed to other programs. Meets: Dates posted on swim team bulletin board and distributed via to parents. Parent Meeting: Tuesday, June 16, 6:30pm at the pool following evening practice Parents are needed to time at the meets please be prepared to sign up at the meeting Uniform: All swim team gear optional, except cap is required for girls. Prepaid orders for team suit, t-shirt, and caps taken during swim team sign-up. Goggles recommended for all (Target or Dick s Sporting Goods).
