Thompson, P.E., CPESC, CFM, Director/City Engineer SYNOPSIS This resolution, if approved, will allow us to dispose of surplus vehicles and equipment that have been replaced through our vehicle/equipment rotation program. We will again be working with Big Iron, which is part of Stock Realty and Auction Company, the same firm we have used previously and with great success. A copy of the online auction listing and market agreement is attached for your review. Auction date is pending. We will also pay a 15% service fee (commission) that will be deducted from the sale proceeds at the time of final settlement. RECOMMENDATION Approval BACKGROUND We have used Big Iron as an auction company in the past. The most recent was when the City Council approved Resolution No. R at the September 5, 2017 City Council Meeting. ATTACHMENTS: 1. Resolution No. R pages 2. Agreement 8 pages
3 RESOLUTION NO. R WHEREAS, the City of Papillion has, from time to time, materials, equipment, and vehicles that are no longer vital to providing service to its citizens; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Papillion deems it appropriate to declare the property surplus; and WHEREAS, the City Council desires to dispose of the surplus property by public auction and the proceeds of the sale to be deposited in the General Fund; and WHEREAS, the City Council authorizes the Public Works Department to dispose of surplus items by public auction; NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and City Council of the City of Papillion that the following list of property be and hereby is declared surplus property, that the same surplus property is to be disposed of by public auction in conjunction with the Omaha Public Power District, through Big Iron, part of Stock Realty and Auction Company, and that the proceeds of said sale be deposited in the General Fund of the City of Papillion.
