Boy oh boy did he snap some gems! Word to the wise, if you DO NOT want your picture in the GMOT, on my blog or on my Facebook page you should a) tell me and/or b) avoid strangers with cameras. I provide my address so you can send your hate mail directly to me. It s more productive than telling everyone you want to kick my ass (it s happened before). Please also let me know if you d like to volunteer for the Player Spotlight. No one is lined up for next week and it s a great way to get your name and face out there in the WAKA world! The Social Committee is working on a fun-filled week for Team Spirit/Mid- Season party time for next week--april 20th. I hope your team is planning something good, because there is free stuff involved. It s probably in the form of liquid and it s probably for those were born after 1990 and that s probably not all. 3 The Rules Player Spotlight Reffing: The Basics Read the rule book! It s not very long. But if you re lazy, here are the most important rules: 1. Strike zone: the ball must bounce twice BEFORE the plate. The strike zone is a triangle 1 foot above the plate and one foot each side of the plate. Brett Stanilka Balls Deep 2. You must kick the ball behind the front of the plate with anything below the knee.. 4 balls, you get walked. strikes you re out. 4 fouls you re out. 4. Foul ball: Lands outside of, or goes outside of the 1st of rd line before getting to the base (even if it bounces inside first). 5. Fielders/pitcher can t cross the imaginary line made by 1st base/pitching mound/rd base until the ball is kicked. 6. You only get to advance one base on an overthrow. 7. The only force outs (getting an out by only standing on the base) is on a pop-fly or when a player is forced to run by another player. Otherwise you have to tag them! 4 Ask the Infielder The Infielder has written two National Best Sellers. His latest, How to be Awesome: The Attractive Person s Guide to Being Better Than Everyone, has sold over 8 million copies in 6 different languages. The Infielder is not a professional counselor, only because he doesn t choose to be one. If he actually wanted to be paid for his counsel, he would be awesome at it. Dear Infielder, My girlfriend is really into saving the environment. She always sorts through my trash and finds one or two recyclable items that either my roommates or I must have thrown away accidentally. Now she really wants me to put solar panels on my house. As you probably know, this is really expensive. I like the environment and all, but I just can t afford that much stuff! How do I get out of this without screwing up? Solar power would be much more efficient if there were a gasoline-powered version. Here s what you do: let your girlfriend know that you are equally concerned with the well-being of the environment and that is why you ve chosen to drink more alcohol this summer than water. We re probably in a draught now anyway. Infielder Dear Infielder, I watched the Kentucky/UConn basketball game last week. Those cheerleaders were smoking hot!! Thought You d Like to Know Dear TYLTK, No. No they were not. You and I both know that you did not need to take a shot during every timeout. And you and I both know that yelling an unintelligible amalgam of pickup lines at the female bartender was not going to work, but I totally agree that it was worth trying. Like I always say, You never take a girl home unless you try except for those times that not trying is what works. So, try or don t. You still might get lucky. 6 Team Reports Ballbarians The Ballbarians had a disappointing loss last week, 7-4 against Blu Sky, however we played them closely at flip cup at the Ginn Mill after the game. Our MVP of the game was Brice Kuttenkuler, who kicked a home run towards the end of the game! TIGER BLOOD used the bye week to rest our livers in anticipation of some epic flip cup this week. Sure there s a kickball game to be played first, but the real battles are won at the flip cup tables. The Carlos Estevez MVP of the week goes to Elise and Anna for being the only TIGER BLOOD players to make it to the Ginn Mill last week! This season we are supporting:
