GEORGIA RANKED 10TH In the latest release of the national collegiate softball polls, Georgia was ranked No. 10 in both the USA Softball/ESPN.com poll and the NFCA/ USA Today poll. 700 WINS & COUNTING With a 3-1 win in game two of a series sweep over South Carolina, Georgia head coach Lu Harris-Champer recorded her 700th collegiate coaching victory. In her 14th season overall, Harris-Champer s career record now stands at including 10 seasons at UGA, where she is DIALING LONG DISTANCE Ten Bulldogs have combined to hit 81 home runs through 51 games (1.59 per game). Last year, Georgia set a school record with 85 home runs (1.44 per game), and after 48 games the 2009 squad had hit 73 home runs. Bulldogs to hit home runs in 2010: Brianna Hesson (12), Megan Wiggins (12), Alisa Goler (11), Ashley Razey (11), Taylor Schlopy (9), Laura Trout (8), Jennie Auger (5), Ashley Pauly (5), Kristyn Sandberg (5) and Amberlie Saxton (3). SINGLE-SEASON SEC HOME RUN RECORDS Three teams 2010 home run totals rank in the top five of the single-season SEC home run record book. SEC Single- Home Run Records: Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Georgia, Florida, 2010 EXTRA-BASE HITS The Bulldogs have recorded at least one extra-base hit in 48-of-51 games this season. The only three times UGA failed to record an extra-base hit were against #18 Florida State on March 24 and in games one and three at #12 LSU on April On the year, UGA now has 167 total extrabase hits with 81 home runs, 77 doubles and nine triples. DOUBLE-DIGIT RBI Georgia s normal starting lineup features nine hitters with double digit RBI including eight with 20 or more RBI. All starting nine have each hit at least five home runs. LIFE IN THE FAST LANE Georgia has stolen 112-of-138 bases this season after 51 games. In all of 2009, the Bulldogs swiped 78 bases (59 games). The 2010 squad is averaging one of the top stolen bases per game marks in the NCAA at SETTING THE TABLE Schlopy has reached base at a 58.4% success rate when leading off an inning (45-for-77). Schlopy also leads the team with 28 stolen bases. WIGGINS CURRENT HITTING STREAK & ON-BASE STREAK Entering the Texas series, Wiggins is riding a 12-game hitting streak and has reached base in 22-straight games. The streak of 22-games on base started with a nine-game hitting streak from March 28 to April 10. In the game the streak was snapped on April 11 at Ole Miss, Wiggins reached base on a hit-by-pitch. Her current hitting streak then started in Georgia s next game on April 13 at Mississippi State. WIGGINS SETS UGA OUTFIELD ASSISTS RECORDS The Bulldogs have recorded 11 outfield assists this season with nine from Wiggins and two from Schlopy. Wiggins nine outfield assists this season are the most ever in a single-season by a Bulldog. For her career, Wiggins has 13 outfield assists, which is tied for the most in school history (Victoria Sanders, ). Schlopy s nine career outfield assists ranks fifth in UGA history (T3rd: 11 - Courtney Knight, ; Julie Milner, ). WALK THIS WAY UGA has drawn 195 walks on the year through 51 games (3.82 per game), which puts the Bulldogs on pace to establish a new school record (199 in 2007). Goler leads the team with a UGA singleseason record 49 stolen bases this year. That total also ranks tied sixth in SEC single-season history. Also drawing several walks this season is Schlopy with 40, which ranks tied fourth in UGA single-season history. For her career, Schlopy is the fourth player at UGA to tally over 100 walks at 106. BATTING AROUND The Bulldogs have batted around 13 times this season. LEADING AFTER FOUR The Bulldogs are a 30-2 when leading after four innings. WHEN SCORING AT LEAST SIX Georgia is 31-0 this season when scoring at least six runs. NATIONAL TV Georgia will conclude its regular season with both games at Texas being televised nationally with the May 9 game on ESPN and the May 10 game on ESPNU. After having played two of three games at LSU on the ESPN networks, Georgia will finish the regular season with four of five games on national television. From there, it s possible that every remaining contest for the Bulldogs will air on television. Georgia has already secured a berth into the SEC Tournament in Fayetteville, Ark., May 13-15, and the opening round and semifinal games there will be aired on ESPNU with ESPN carrying the championship game. At Tennessee, UGA trailed 4-0 in game two before winning 10-6, and in game three, UGA trailed 6-1 before winning 7-6 in eight innings. The five-run deficit is the largest overcome by Georgia under Harris-Champer. At Ole Miss, Georgia trailed 4-0 in game one before winning 9-5. UGA has also overcame two-run deficits at sixth-ranked Georgia Tech and at Mississippi State. At GT, UGA trailed by as many as two at 3-1 and 4-2, but a three-run homer from Razey lifted UGA to a 5-4 victory. At MSU, UGA trailed 3-1 after the first but used a five-run, two out rally in the fourth en route to winning 7-6. Seven other victories have come when UGA trailed by one run. UP NEXT: THE SEC TOURNAMENT Georgia s two-game series at Texas will conclude its 2010 regular season play, and the Bulldogs will remain on the road without returning to Athens as they travel from Austin to Fayetteville, Ark., for the SEC Tournament, May POSSIBLE SEC TOURNAMENT OPENING ROUND OPPONENTS While Georgia has concluded the SEC portion of its schedule, the rest of the league will be playing conference contests this weekend. Currently, Georgia s 18-8 league record places the Bulldogs fourth in the overall standings. In the opening round of the SEC tournament, Georgia could possibly face either LSU or Tennessee, and those two teams will play a threegame series this weekend in Knoxville, Tenn.. If LSU, currently ranked third in the league standings, wins one game, Georgia will face Tennessee in Fayetteville. If Tennessee sweeps LSU, the Bulldogs would open the conference tournament against the Tigers WINNING STREAKS Georgia posted two of the top winning streaks in school history this year. Top Winning Streaks In UGA History: 25 - May 6, 2001-March 3, March 5, 2005-April 2, March 29, 2006-April 22, Feb. 14, 2010-March 13, March 11, 2008-March 30, April 3, 2010-April 25, 2010 GEORGIA S WINNING STREAKS AMONG NATION S BEST IN 2010 Georgia s 17-game winning streak this year ranks among the 10 best in NCAA Division I Softball. Top Winning Streaks In Division I For 2010: 24 - LSU - Feb. 20-March Alabama - April 2-CURRENT - Hawaii - March 26-April 30 - Washington - Feb. 19-March 18 - Arizona State - Feb. 20-March Georgia - Feb. 14-March 13 - Oklahoma State - March 20-April 20 - Lipscomb - Feb. 19-March Michigan - March 20-April 25 - Arizona - Feb. 26-March 18 SEC PLAYER OF THE WEEK HONORS Schlopy and Wiggins earned back-to-back SEC Player of the Week on April 12 and April 19, respectively. Schlopy earned the honor following her efforts to help Georgia go 5-0 with single wins over Georgia Southern and Georgia Tech along with a three-game sweep over Ole Miss. Over those five games, Schlopy batted.667 (10-for-15) with a team-best eight runs scored. Wiggins earned the honor after helping Georgia go 5-0 with two wins over Mississippi State and a three-game sweep over Auburn. Wiggins batted.500 with a team-best six RBI. She had a hit in all five games and at least one RBI in four of the five contests. USA SOFTBALL TOP 25 FINALIST Schlopy was named one of 25 finalists for the 2010 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year Award. Schlopy and Goler were both tabbed to the top 50 presason watchlist for the award. SANDBERG RECORDED THE 12TH BEST HITTING STREAK IN UGA HISTORY Sandberg posted a 13-game hitting streak from Feb. 28 to March 24. It was the best hitting streak at UGA since 2007, and it ranked tied 12th best in school history. BACK-TO-BACK HOME RUNS UGA has hit back-to-back home runs three times this season. Against UCF on Feb. 13, Hesson and Razey became the first Bulldogs to do so this season. At Kentucky on March 28, Auger and Trout became the second pair to accomplish the feat. At Ole Miss, Hesson and Goler became the third pair to go yard in consecutive at-bats. Last year, the Dogs hit back-to-back home runs six times. 2ND, 3RD & 4TH HIGHEST RUN TOTALS UGA has posted three of the top four singlegame run totals in school history this year. Most Runs Scored In A By UGA: 23 - vs. Charlotte 3/9/ vs. Bowling Green 2/19/ vs. W. Carolina 2/20/ at Kentucky 3/28/ vs. Seton Hall 2/24/06 THE BIGGEST INNINGS IN UGA HISTORY On Feb. 19 vs. Bowling Green, Georgia s third inning was the biggest in school history with 17 plate appearances and 13 runs (on 11 hits). On March 28 at Kentucky, Georgia s fourth inning was the second biggest in school history with 10 runs scoring (7 hits, 13 plate appearances) ON LONGEST HOME STAND Georgia s longest home stand of the 2010 season lasted from the Red & Black Showcase on Feb to a contest against Furman on March 17. The home stand covered 19 games in which the Bulldogs went From returning home on Feb. 14 until traveling to Knoxville, Tenn., on March 19, UGA had a span of 32 non-travel days in a row.

DOGS EARN THREE SEC PITCHER OF THE WEEK HONORS The first three SEC Pitcher of the Week honors for the 2010 season went to Georgia pitchers Sarah McCloud (2/15) and Erin Arevalo (2/22 & 3/1). McCloud, a junior, earned the recognition following the opening week of the 2010 season when she made two appearances going 2-0 with a 0.00 ERA including a five-inning, completegame one-hit shutout over UCF. Arevalo, a sophomore, then became only the second pitcher in UGA history (Natalie Price, 1999) and just the eighth in SEC history to earn the SEC Pitcher of the Week honor in back-toback weeks. She earned the first honor after the Red & Black Showcase, where she pitched the first three complete games of her career going 3-0 with a 0.00 ERA and 23 strikeouts including a one-hitter against Winthrop. Arevalo s second week of recognition came after the Georgia Softball Classic, where she went 5-0 with a 0.00 ERA and 31 strikeouts including a one-hitter against Iowa State. THREE NO-HITTERS IN THREE DAYS During the Bulldog Invitational, the Georgia pitching staff tossed three no-hitters in three days. On March 5, McCloud and freshman Alison Owen no-hit Belmont in five-innings. On March 6, Arevalo and junior Katie Murphy no hit Minnesota, which marked just the second time in school history UGA has pitched consecutive no-hitters. Two games later on March 7, Arevalo and Murphy paired up again to no hit Middle Tennessee, the first time in program history the Bulldogs have pitched no-hitters in three-straight days. RECORD TYING NINE STOLEN BASES Against Minnesota on March 5, the Bulldogs tied a school record with nine stolen bases in a game. The record was set on Feb. 22, 2002 against Marshall. A RUN IN EVERY INNING Against Iowa State on Feb. 27, Georgia batted six times and scored at least one run in every time the team came to bat. It marked the first time since 2006 in which the Bulldogs have scored in every inning when batting at least six times. RECORD TYING HOME RUNS IN A GAME Against UCF on Feb. 13, Georgia posted a five-home run outing matching the school record for home runs in a game. Hesson and Razey each hit two home runs in the game while Goler added a grand slam. The record had been establish on two previous occasions. First in 2003 vs. Southeastern Louisiana and then again in 2009 vs. IUPUI. GEORGIA WINS ALL THREE OF ITS HOME TOURNAMENTS Georgia hosted its first of three-straight home tournaments, the third-annual Red & Black Showcase, Feb , and the Bulldogs won the tournament by going 5-0 and outscoring opponents As a team, the Dogs batted.419 with 13 home runs and 21 stolen bases. The second home tournament was the seventh-annual Georgia Softball Classic, Feb , the Bulldogs won the event with a 5-0 record while outscoring opponents As a team, the Dogs batted.307 with nine home runs and 17 stolen bases. Georgia finished out the tournament portion of its schedule by winning the Bulldog Invitational, March 4-6, with a perfect 5-0 record. UGA outscored its opponents 41-2 while batting.417 with seven home runs and 29 stolen bases. From the circle, Georgia tossed no-hitters against Belmont, Minnesota and Middle Tennessee. DOT RICHARDSON S NATIONAL COLLE- GIATE SOFTBALL INVITATIONAL Georgia opened its 2010 season at Dot Richardson s National Collegiate Softball Invitational in Clermont, Fla., Feb , and the Bulldog went 3-1 with wins over third-ranked Michigan, UCF and FAU while dropping a one-run contest to sixth-ranked UCLA. The season-opener came against thirdranked Michigan, and the Bulldogs won that game, 6-4. It marked the fifth-straight season opening victory for Georgia, and it was also the third-straight season opening game in which UGA has played a ranked opponent def. #3 Michigan, def. #20 Long Beach St., def. #8 DePaul, def. Wichita St., def. Arkansas, 7-6 (9) PRESEASON RANKINGS In the preseason polls, Georgia was tabbed No. 7 by NFCA/USA Today and No. 8 by USA Softball/ESPN.com. The No. 7 ranking matched the 2004 squad for the best preseason ranking in school history. Georgia s original 2010 schedule, prior to rainouts, featured eight teams which were ranked in both of the preseason polls including Michigan, UCLA, Florida, Alabama, Tennessee, LSU, Georgia Tech and Florida State. McCLOUD IN 2010 McCloud started 2010 by earning SEC Pitcher of the Week honors in the season s first week after she one-hit UCF in five-innings and limited FAU to four hits and went 2-0 with a 0.00 ERA in 11.0 IP. On the year, McCloud is now 8-1 with a 2.86 ERA in 83.1 IP. McCLOUD s 2009 SEASON McCloud appeared in 32 games making 27 starts. She was second on the team lead in wins (17), complete games (10) and shutouts (7.5). She tallied innings. McCloud combined with Christie Hamilton to no-hit Arkansas on May 3. McCloud started and pitched the first 1.2 innings. In the Easton Challenge, McCloud was named to the All-Tournament team after pitching a pair of complete-game shutouts to defeat #24 Baylor and #1 Washington. McCLOUD S 2008 SEASON Sarah McCloud posted a 14-7 record with two saves while compiling a 2.16 ERA in 37 appearances as a freshman in She started a team-high 30 games and the Bulldogs went 23-7 in those contests. McCloud also finished with a team-leading 11 complete games, which included a combined perfect game against Mercer. Mc- Cloud tossed the first four innings of the perfect game while former Bulldog Kate Gaskill worked the final inning of the five-inning game. McCloud also garnered an SEC Freshman of the Week award in 08. Georgia played five games for the week of March 26-30, and McCloud started and earned the victory in each game. In four of the five starts for McCloud went for complete games. For that week, she posted a 0.90 ERA allowing Ole Miss to score just two runs and the Arkansas to score just three, two of which were earned. She picked up her first-career save with 2.0 innings against Arkansas on April 3. The Georgia Softball Stadium has been chosen to host three NCAA Regionals and one NCAA Super Regional since its inception in Both the Georgia and visiting team dugout are connected via tunnel to locker rooms. The Bulldogs locker room has all facilities located in it an athletic training room, players lounge and locker room, showers, and the coaches offices and locker room. On the first base side, the visiting team has its locker room and showers along with the umpires locker room. A state-of-the-art press box was built as well. The press box has suites for radio, television, and for both Georgia and the visiting team s athletic director. The stadium is finished with an awning covering the upper section. Georgia s stadium ranks among the nation s best and will continue to be an attractive site for NCAA postseason play for years to come.
