Two Tigers have started all 33 games so far in OF Anfernee Grier and SS Cody Nulph. Damon Haecker has started multiple games at four positions (2B, 3B, LF, RF) in 2015, the first time an Auburn player has accomplished that feat since Justin Bryant played 5 in 2010 (2B, 3B, SS, OF, DH). Grier leads the SEC with 17 doubles and 58 hits, totals that rank third and seventh in the country. The Tigers are 20-3 when holding its opponent to five or fewer runs and is 13-3 when scoring at least six runs in a game. Auburn is 13-2 when playing error-free baseball this season. In its 21 wins, Auburn has compiled a.986 fielding percentage with 11 errors. In their 15 losses, the Tigers have fielded at a.955 clip with 25 errors. With 20 bunt singles on the season, Auburn ranks second in the SEC (Mississippi St., 24) and fourth nationally. Keegan Thompson leads the SEC with 7 wins and has thrown 39.2 inn. in his 5 SEC starts for an average of 8 inn. per start. 4 2015 AUBURN BASEBALL GAME NOTES 29 SUNNY GOLLOWAY HEAD COACH THE AUBURN SKIPPER Three-time Oklahoma Baseball Coaches Association Coach of the Year (1998, 2001, 2010) Four-time Mid-Continent Conference Coach of the Year (1998, 1999, 2000, 2002) Two-time NBC Coach of the Year (1993, 1994) Sunny Golloway, who enters his second season on the Plains in 2015, was named Auburn s 17th head baseball coach on June 14, Golloway spent the previous eight seasons ( ) as head coach at the University of Oklahoma, where he led the Sooners to seven NCAA Regional berths, four NCAA Super Regionals and the 2010 College World Series. The goal in this search was to find a proven winner who can put our baseball program in a position to compete for championships, and we found our man in Coach Golloway... After having the chance to hear his vision for Auburn baseball, there is no doubt in my mind he has the tenacity, the passion and the drive to get our program back to a level that matches our strong baseball heritage. - Auburn Athletics Director Jay Jacobs GOLLOWAY IS A REGIONAL REGULAR Golloway has been a proven winner at each of his head coaching stops. In 17 full seasons as a head coach - eight seasons each at Oklahoma and Oral Roberts as well as one at Auburn - Golloway has amassed a record of (.660), including 12 seasons with at least 40 wins entering the 2015 season. He recorded a mark of (.656) in eight-plus seasons as the Oklahoma head coach, an average of more than 40 wins per season. Prior to the 2013 season, Golloway s winning percentage ranked No. 15 nationally among active head coaches. GOLLOWAY IN 19th SEASON AS HEAD COACH In 2013 at Oklahoma, Golloway led the Sooners to a overall record, a Big 12 Tournament title, an NCAA Regional title and a Super Regional appearance. His final team at Oklahoma also produced a pair of All-Americans, including pitcher Jonathan Gray, the No. 3 overall pick in the 2013 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft. Under Golloway, Oklahoma posted the program s fifth-straight 40-win regular season in 2013, making Oklahoma one of a few programs nationally to win at least 40 games in five consecutive years. The Sooners finished third in the Big 12 standings while making the program s sixth-straight NCAA postseason appearance (36th overall). OU finished the 2013 campaign ranked as high as No. 18 in the nation after falling to LSU in the NCAA Baton Rouge Super Regional. The Sooners hosted three NCAA Regionals under Golloway while appearing in the program s only Super Regional appearances (2006, 2010, 2012 and 2013) and making it back to the College World Series in 2010 for the first time since BIG LEAGUE GUIDANCE Golloway has produced 83 MLB draft picks in his 18-year tenure as a collegiate head coach, and a total of 116 players have been draft selections in his 23 years in college baseball. He has also coached 95 all-conference selections between his three head coaching stops, including 61 All-Big 12 selections at Oklahoma from Three of OU s recruiting classes under Golloway were ranked in the top 10 in Collegiate Baseball s national rankings, including the 2007 group of newcomers that was tabbed the fourth best in the country, the highest ranking since 1987 and tied for the second best in program history. At ORU, Golloway posted a mark of (.682). He coached 16 All-Americans, three Freshman All-Americans and 26 of his ORU players were drafted or signed professional contracts. He was honored four times as Mid-Continent Conference Coach of the Year by his peers (1998, 1999, 2000, 2002). Golloway is a former Team USA assistant and head coach of several collegiate summer teams. In the summer of 2002, he was selected to serve as pitching coach for the USA Baseball National Team. Under his direction, the team recorded the lowest ERA in its history. Golloway also helped team USA to a silver medal. FAMILY MAN Coach Golloway and his wife, Charlotte, have three children: Sunni Kate, Taylor and Callen. Golloway has 23 years experience as a collegiate coach. He served as an assistant coach at Oklahoma from , helping lead the Sooners to three trips to the College World Series in those four years and a national title in He took over as head coach at Oral Roberts in 1996, and the Golden Eagles won the Mid-Continent Conference title and advanced to an NCAA Regional in each of his final six seasons at ORU. 4

He is tied for the team lead with nine RBI in league play despite having only the seventh-most at-bats in SEC games. Overall, Deese is third on the team with 19 RBI, only three RBI behind the team leader, despite being seventh on the team with 99 at-bats, Deese has driven in four runs this season that have tied a game or given Auburn the lead. BIG WEEK FOR BULLPEN In its series at LSU, Auburn s bullpen threw seven innings of 1-hit, shutout baseball with no walks and four strikeouts highlighted by Justin Camp s effort on Sunday where he allowed one hit over 5.1 innings with three strikeouts. This was following six innings of shutout baseball by the Tigers relievers against Georgia State on Wednesday night. For the week, Auburn s bullpen threw 13 scoreless innings, allowing four hits and striking out eight while giving up zero walks. OUCH!!!! Auburn s hitters have been hit by a pitch 118 times in 92 games under head coach Sunny Golloway. The Tigers were hit by a pitch a total of 92 times in the two seasons prior to him taking the reigns of the program (115 games). Sophomore infielder/outfielder Damon Haecker has been hit by a pitch a team-high 21 times over the last two season. Auburn won a game over Arkansas on a walk-off hit by pitch in the bottom of the ninth as Cody Nulph was hit with the bases loaded to bring in the winning run. GRIER IN GEAR Anfernee Grier s 19 extra base hits (17 2B and 2 3B) this season are more than any Auburn player had in Last season Blake Austin led the Tigers with 14 extra base hits (11 2B and 3 HR). Grier s 17 doubles are the most by an Auburn player since Creede Simpson had 18 in The sophomore from Phenix City, Ala. leads the SEC in hits and doubles and ranks third in batting average. As a team, Auburn s 89 extra base hits and 65 doubles this season (36 games) match the Tigers totals from all of last season. SOLID IN THE FIELD Auburn tied a program record with a.970 fielding percentage in 2014 and is on its way to another record-breaking season in the field. The Tigers currently hold a.973 mark overall, including a.974 mark in conference play. The Auburn defense did not commit an error from the eighth inning on March 21 vs. Vanderbilt until the sixth inning on April 3 vs. Arkansas, a span of 49.2 innings. The streak of five straight error-free games was the longest for Auburn since a five game streak from March 18-March 23 last season. STOLEN BASE SUCCESS Auburn tied a season-high with four stolen bases at Samford. It was the Tigers fourth game with multiple stolen bases this season. Auburn was successful on two of its three stolen base attempts at Georgia Tech. It was just the Tigers third game with multiple stolen bases this season. The Tigers have 23 stolen bases on the season led by Anfernee Grier s six. Five different Auburn players have at least three steals and 10 different players have stolen at least one base. Auburn was 2-for-2 on steal attempts against Georgia State, the fifth game this season with multiple stolen bases for the Tigers. 5

6 2015 AUBURN BASEBALL GAME NOTES MORE NEWS & NOTES THOMPSON IN CONTROL All-American Keegan Thompson is tied for the conference lead in SEC play with four wins so far this season. In those games, he has gone 4-1 with a 2.50 ERA and has struck out 29 batters in 39.2 IP. Thompson has gone at least 6.2 innings in last seven starts (6 vs. SEC competition & 1 vs. Georgia Tech) and has posted a 2.50 ERA with 50 K s in 54 innings of work in those games. In his most recent outing, Thompson threw a complete game at LSU, allowing one run on six hits with one walk and three strikeouts against the SEC s top-hitting team. He became the first Auburn pitcher in 15 years to throw consecutive complete games. Colter Bean was the last Auburn hurler to accomplish the feat, doing so against UNC Charlotte and South Carolina in Thompson has now thrown four career complete games and holds a record of 7-2 in 2015 with an 2.44 ERA. HISTORICAL SHUTOUTS Auburn shut out Mississippi State 5-0 on Friday night and 4-0 on Saturday, making it the first time that the Tigers have thrown shutouts in consecutive SEC games since March 17, 2002 vs. Kentucky (5-0) and March 22, 2002 at Tennessee (3-0). It was the first time Auburn had thrown shutouts in consecutive games since March 2, 2001 vs. Charleston Southern (5-0) and March 6, 2001 vs. Georgia Tech (4-0) and the first time Auburn had thrown two shutouts in an SEC series since shutting out Ole Miss 5-0 and 1-0 on March 12, The shutouts were Auburn s first vs. Mississippi State in Starkville since 1976 and first vs. the Bulldogs anywhere since Additionally, the series also marked the first time Auburn had back-toback road SEC shutouts since beating Georgia 1-0 and 19-0 on May 5-6, MORE PITCHING AT MSU Auburn s pitching staff only allowed three runs in its series at Mississippi State. On the weekend, the Tigers lowered their team ERA from 3.80 to The three runs were the fewest Auburn had allowed in a 3-game SEC series since holding South Carolina to three runs in The Tigers beat the Gamecocks 4-1, 3-2 (7 innings) and 6-0. It was the second time this season allowing three or less runs to a three-game series opponent (Radford). Prior to the Radford series, that feat had not occurred since Feb against Elon. The series win was Auburn s first over Mississippi State since 2012 and the first in Starkville since CAMP IS CLUTCH Auburn closer Justin Camp has been clutch for the Tigers in The junior from Decatur, Ala. has 31 strikeouts in 26.2 innings pitched this year. Camp has recorded four saves equaling Auburn s team leader in 2014, Terrance Dedrick, who had four. Auburn s eight saves through its first 22 games equaled the total the Tigers had in all of As Auburn made a comeback in game three with Vanderbilt, Camp provided 4.0 innings and struck out 4 while allowing only one run on 4 hits. He provided 5.1 innings of shutout relief in the Sunday game at LSU, only allowing one hit and striking out three while not allowing a walk. GRIER SETS THE TABLE Grier recorded a hit in each of the first 15 games of the season, extending his hitting streak to 17 games dating back through the final two games of the 2014 season. He has 11 multi-hit games and a hit in 23 of the first 25 games in In 35 games from 5/1/14 through 3/24/15, Grier hit in 32-of-35 starts with an average of.380 (52-for-137) in that stretch. Grier s career-high streak of 17 games was the longest for Auburn since Casey McElroy hit in 18 straight during the 2011 season. GRIER NAMED SEC POTW Anfernee Grier was named the SEC Player of the Week on March 2. He batted.500 with nine hits in 18 at-bats, including going 5-for-8 against No. 27 Georgia Tech and No. 10 Oklahoma State. Grier scored six runs and drove in three RBI. KEEGAN DOMINATES In his two starts against Georgia Tech and Alabama, Keegan Thompson struck out 21 in 14.1 IP against only 1 walk while posting a 2.51 ERA. In those 20 innings, the Tigers allowed a total of five runs. In the seven innings that the leadoff man reached, Auburn allowed eight runs. PINCH HIT SUCCESS On the season, Auburn substitutes are batting.372 (16-of-43) and have scored 11 runs. Those subs have also have 10 RBI, three doubles and two triples.
