Stewart battles, Miracle rake in 5-2 game one win Miracle starter Kohl Stewart struggled with his command, but still managed to guide the Miracle to a 5-2 win with six scoreless frames in a game one victory over the Dunedin Blue Jays on Monday night. Stewart hit two batters, walked three and threw 99 pitches, 57 for strikes. Earning his third win, Stewart received some early run support when Nick Gordon took Blue Jays starter Brad Allen deep to right center field for a solo homer. The Miracle added four more runs in the top of the fourth including a two-run triple from Logan Wade and an RBI double by Chris Paul. The offense piled up 11 hits marking the third consecutive game of double-digit hits. Wade, Paul and Gordon each had multi-hit games and combined to go 7-for-15 in the top three spots in the lineup with three runs and four RBI. Corcino continues to scorch FSL pitching in May On April 23, Miracle center fielder Tanner English was placed on the disabled list for corrective eye surgery. Since that day, Edgar Corcino has served as the primary middle outfielder for the Miracle and provided solid defense with stellar offense. Corcino has a hit in 15-of-22 games played in center and has been scorching hot over the last 14 games. Edgar has hit in 10-of-14 with multiple hits in seven. Corcino has posted a trio of four RBI games and has six extra-base hits including two home runs since May 2. In May, Corcino has a batting average of.316 with 13 RBI in 14 games. Nick Gordon returns to Miracle lineup after DL stint On May 3 at Roger Dean Stadium, a seemingly harmless pop up to right center field ended with a collision of two Miracle bodies, Nick Gordon and Chad Christensen. Danny Diekroeger s shallow fly ball sent four Miracle position players sprinting to the same spot. Christensen dove and Gordon slid, the two crashing into one another. Gordon caught the ball, but he and Christensen remained on the ground for an extended period of time and both exited the game. Gordon was placed on the disabled list with a concussion and missed a week, but returned to action on May 11 and has a hit in each of his last six games. Nick is 10-for-24 with six runs scored, a homer and three RBI since returning from the DL. Swim hangs em up, placed on the retired list Miracle catcher and utlity player Alex Swim was placed on the retired list by the Minnesota Twins prior to Monday s game with the Bradenton Marauders. Swim, 25, was hitting.204 in 28 games with 22 hits in 108 at-bats. Alex had three doubles and eight RBI. Swim was an invite to MLB Spring Training for the Twins after leading the Miracle with a.311 batting average in Swim appeared in 214 career games in the Twins organization with 32 doubles, two triples, 89 RBI and a career batting average of.293.
