Notre Dame completed an undefeated trip to the Diamond 9 Citrus Classic at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex on March 4-5. The Irish downed Purdue 6-, FIU 5-3 in eight innings, Chattanooga 9- in five innings and Charlotte 4- to cap the 4- road trip to Kissimmee, Florida. Notre Dame improved to 27-4 (.87) at the Diamond 9 Citrus Classic since 2, while outscoring opponents by a combined 24-5 run count during the four-game weekend sweep. The Irish are unbeaten in their last games at the Citrus Classic since 25. Notre Dame s three wins over national top 5 foes in February were the most by any Irish team in that month in program history. From Feb. 2 at No. 8 UCLA to a Feb. 25 showdown with No. 4/5 Oklahoma, Notre Dame played straight games against teams either ranked or receiving votes in the national top 25 polls. Notre Dame now has 2 wins over ranked foes since 23, including victories over the top, following its 5-4 win over No. 4/5 Oklahoma on Feb. 25. Notre Dame earned its fifth win in series history over Oklahoma, including its fourth when the Sooners have been ranked in the national top. The win over the national No. 4 team matched the highest ranked win in program history. Notre Dame is set to make just its second road trip to Georgia Tech, and its first since the inaugural Irish season in the ACC in 24. Irish softball is one of only two Notre Dame varsity athletic programs to have never posted a losing record. The softball team clinched its 28th straight season with a.5 record or better with a 43-3 final mark to close the 26 campaign. Notre Dame s three-time national champion women s soccer program has logged 29 straight winning seasons since its inception at the varsity level in the fall of 988. Karley Wester batted a team-high.467 (7-for-5) with three BI and five runs scored, and added three stolen bases out of the leadoff spot in the Notre Dame lineup. Melissa ochford added four hits, including a double, and a team-high four BI during the weekend. Morgan eed chipped in four hits, three BI and three runs scored, while Kimmy Sullivan finished second behind Wester with four runs scored for the tournament. PITCHE'S PATCH SHINES AT ESPN WWOS The pitching staff of Notre Dame enjoyed its best combined outings of the 27 season during the Diamond 9 Citrus Classic. The Irish Pitcher s Patch yielded only three earned runs (.78 EA) in 27 innings against Purdue, FIU, Chattanooga and Charlotte. achel Nasland spun 5.2 innings over three appearances (two starts) without allowing an earned run, walking just one batter and striking out as part of a 2- weekend. Katie Beriont posted a strong.62 EA over two appearances (one start), walking one with seven strikeouts in 4. innings. Caitlyn Brooks added a 2. EA in her seven innings to also join Nasland at 2-. ADUOUS TEST PASSED BY IISH Over its first 4 contests, Notre Dame played straight games against teams that were either ranked or receiving votes in the national top 25 polls at first pitch. The month of February for Notre Dame, from this aspect, featured a stronger strength of schedule than any team currently ranked in the NFCA top 25 coaches poll. As of March, Notre Dame faced nine top 25 opponents, notching three wins against teams in the top 5 (No. 4 Oklahoma on Feb. 25, No. Georgia on Feb. 24, No. Michigan on Feb. 8). Current No. UCLA took on seven top 25 foes in the season s opening month, while current No. 7 Michigan played in five ranked matchups in February. ACC STANDINGS (AS OF 3/9) Team ACC Pct. Overall Pct. Other All-Americans just ahead of Wester on the hits list are Stephanie Brown ( 7) with 277 hits, and Notre Dame s only three-time softball All- American Emilee Koerner ( 5) with 274 hits. The five-run surge to 9 for Wester in Kissimmee pulled her within six runs of surpassing Koerner (96) for the Notre Dame softball career runs lead. Teammates in 24 and 25, Wester and Koerner are more than 25 runs clear of Brown (66) in third place. Wester, already the Irish softball career steals leader, joined baseball greats Steve Stanley (999-22, 6) and Scott Sollmann (994-96, ) as the only players to record or more stolen bases wearing a Notre Dame uniform earlier this season. With a successful swiped bag in the top of the third inning against No. 4/5 Oklahoma on Feb. 25, Wester passed Sollmann for second place on the all-time Notre Dame stolen bases list with her 2nd steal. She sits just 2 career steals shy of Stanley s Irish benchmark with 5 stolen bases in 9 attempts. FESHMEN STEP UP BIG FO IISH Members of Notre Dame s freshman class again answered the challenge for the Irish during last weekend s sweep at the Diamond 9 Citrus Classic. Chelsea Purcell notched her first career BI on a double in the fifth inning against Purdue on March 4, adding her first career triple and a run scored later in the weekend against Chattanooga (March 5). Katie Marino clubbed her third home run in seven games, sending the winning threerun shot out in the second inning of a shutout win over Charlotte. Alexis Bazos picked up her first two career hits in a Notre Dame uniform, reaching by way of slap singles in her only official at-bats against Purdue and Charlotte. Madison Heide registered 5 putouts and one assist behind the plate as the primary catcher for achel Nasland, holding opponents to no earned runs with Nasland in the circle. IISH AGAINST THE ACC Taking into account all prior games, including those before joining the league, Notre Dame is a combined 6-55 (.745) against the current ACC membership. IISH AGAINST THE OPPOSITION Notre Dame enters this weekend with a 9- (.9) all-time series edge over Georgia Tech. 3 CONFEENCE CHAMPIONSHIPS 27 ALL-AMEICANS 3

Under Gumpf s guidance the Irish have made 5 consecutive trips to NCAA egionals, claiming four conference tournament titles during that span. Even more, Notre Dame staked claim to the BIG EAST Conference s regular season championship during her first four seasons on the bench (22-5). The Irish hoisted BIG EAST regular season hardware again in 2, 2, and the program s final year as a conference member in 23 before transitioning to the Atlantic Coast Conference prior to the 24 campaign. The Notre Dame coaching staff has received eight prominent honors during Gumpf s tenure, being tabbed as the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Mideast egion Coaching Staff of the Year in 22 and 24, the NFCA Mid- Atlantic egion Coaching Staff of the Year in 24 and 26, and the BIG EAST Coaching Staff of the Year in 22, 24, 2 and 23. Gumpf has compiled a career record of (.75) in her 5-plus seasons at Notre Dame, placing her among the elite skippers in the NCAA. Gumpf joined legendary fencing coach Michael DeCicco and Hall of Fame women s basketball coach Muffet McGraw as the only varsity athletics mentors to win 6 or more games during their Notre Dame tenures with a 5- victory over Central Florida on Feb. 26, 26. Gumpf reached the summit as the all-time winningest Irish softball/baseball coach after surpassing longtime baseball skipper Jake Kline (934-75) with her 559th career win against Missouri on Feb. 27, 25. Gumpf also ranks in the top 2 in winning percentage among all active NCAA Division I softball coaches with a career clip of.76. During Gumpf s tenure, 4 different Notre Dame players have earned NFCA All-America honors, with Andrea Loman (22-3), Megan Ciolli (24-5), Emilee Koerner (23-5) and Karley Wester (24 & 26) being recognized as multi-time All- Americans. Koerner, the 25 ACC Player of the Year, became the first player in program history to earn three All-America citations by being named to that season s NFCA All-America third team after earning second team honors in 23 and a third team citation in 24. The Irish have also produced 64 NFCA all-region performers, six conference players of the year, four conference pitchers of the year, two conference freshman of the year selections, 96 all-conference recipients, three USA Softball National Player of the Year finalists (Karley Wester 25-6, Emilee Koerner 23), and two NFCA Division I National Freshman of the Year finalists (Ali Wester 26, Karley Wester 24) since 22. A native of La Palma, California, Gumpf (née Mays) played at the University of Nebraska from while earning a degree in business management. Gumpf was an all-big Eight Conference second team selection in 99 and an honorable mention pick in both 989 and 99. Prior to her collegiate success in Lincoln, Gumpf enjoyed an outstanding prep career with Gordon s Panthers, one of the most dominating Amateur Softball Association teams in Southern California.
